Does anyone else think Sophie DofE looks different like she’s had a ‘glow up’? She was always attractive but the picture the RF put out today she looks amazing! Did she always look like this? Has she had a Spray tan?

I think she's developed her style and confidence. She's an attractive woman and has found a bit of a groove lately, some great outfits (some not so great!). She and Edward are stepping up and I think they've both got more purpose.

YaMuvva · 08/04/2024 18:21

I agree! Her style really suits her, thank god the days of dressing young Royal women like 90 year old women (which I think they did to Meghan A LOT a woman in her mid-30’s) are long gone.

She looks the same as usual to me — nice-looking, pleasant expression…?

Mrsjayy · 08/04/2024 18:23

She just looks the same although her make up is "glowy" but that's the trend isn't it, but her clothes/style Is the same.

Xylophonics · 08/04/2024 18:27

No idea, but am amazed that all the RF women can wear such killer heels.
I'm slightly younger than her and cannot wear heels at all, bar wedges.

ssd · 08/04/2024 18:36

Looks like a nice life. Am looking at myself, walked through grubby city centre in the pouring rain, feel washed out and tired, sore head from working inside a shop all day.

ssd · 08/04/2024 18:37

Anyway, yes, she looks great

I somehow doubt Meghan was "put" in anything because that would have been another grievance!

I think Sophie has come into her own really. Also admire the ability to wear such high heels. I could never really walk in courts like they do.

caringcarer · 08/04/2024 19:10

I agree about the heels. I'd be falling over in those. Sophie is more confident now she's also a Duchess I think.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/04/2024 19:27

She was a confident woman when she came into the RF, with her own business. Had to deal with the inevitable comparisons with Diana. Made a few mistakes and took a few knocks over the early years (dodgy sheik) and then had a terrible experience with pregnancy. She's quietly got on with raising her kids, forming a really tight bond with QEII and doing her royal duties largely unnoticed by the press. Kids are now both teens, she has a title that gives her more status than she's ever had, she has the legacy of her beloved MIL to honour and she's been put into a position through the unfortunate illness of the key members of the RF where she is centre stage. She's not that different to many other women who suddenly find their groove, when the uncertain years of child rearing and early career have passed by, and they get to middle age and a new lease of confidence, not giving too many fucks for what people think of them. It's great.

I really don’t think they “ put “ Meghan in anything she didn’t want to wear ! She was known to go against protocol- not wearing a hat when with the Queen , bare shoulders are just a couple of examples that come to mind. She preferred Dior , Givenchy etc rather than British brands.

Apparently bare shoulders are fine. And there are plenty of pictures of Sophie not wearing a hat in the company of the Queen, so that appears to be okay too.

But OP, yes Sophie des look like she has had a bit of a make over, nothing OTT but it suits her.

I think Meghan did actually complain about being dressed plainly (some nonsense about only the Queen being allowed to wear bright colours). Whoever let her wear this needs a kick. A pill box hat for a gorgeous young looking 37 year old woman mixed with a dress that looks like it’s from Pilot circa 2004.

Then again for a supposed fashion icon I always found Diana to be very frumpily dressed!

I think so too. She waited patiently for her time to shine and I think she shines very well!

Spot on!

I have to say now as a middle aged woman I really wish I had half the confidence I do now when I was in my 20’s. I feel great, I feel like I look great and I’m very secure in who I am. I’d have killed for that at the age of 21!

Meghan chose what to wear. The outfit above I think is Stella McCartney? I have no idea why she would claim that she only wore muted colours as a working royal. Some of my favourite looks on her were bright yellow, green, purple and red.

Maireas · 08/04/2024 22:28

Diana was never "frumpy". She was very stylish. She wore the fashions of the time and was much admired for it.

I beg to differ. She was 21 in the photo with William!

You might consider her style frumpy by the standards of today, but she was a fashion icon at the time!

RosesAndHellebores · 08/04/2024 22:40

Diana and I share a vintage. What she wore was very very popular in SW London in the early 80s. It was Sloaney but not frumpy.

Wickedlywearynamechange · 08/04/2024 23:02

Sophie is looking very smart most outings now. Recent images I’ve seen show her wearing a more streamlined smarter style.

Those very high heels the royal women wear are extraordinary though. It’s probably possible because they aren’t too long on their feet when they are out at royal engagements. They are driven there, get out and meet and greet people, and then driven home. They're not trying to get on and off public transport with no guarantee of a seat. Or trying to find a place to park the car and often having to walk blocks and blocks afterwards.

I gave up high heels when I had my children. I’m lucky I can wear very flat shoes, and would love to have the money to wear the ultra expensive brands of flats we quite often see Meghan wearing now.

PlasticOno · 08/04/2024 23:45

I think Diana was a dreadful dresser. Not just the inevitable Sloaney righties horrors, but even supposedly iconic outfits like the ‘revenge dress’, which is all wrong on her and doesn’t suit her body and her height.

I agree. Don’t even get me started on the creased horror that was her ‘iconic’ wedding dress. These outfits even at the time we’re not fashionable or flattering.
