What exactly is "the Sussex Squad"?

Prydddan · 06/04/2024 14:56

I don't know whether this is too controversial a topic for such a thread to be allowed to stand. But I post in good faith on a topic I believe has a lot of social and political relevance.

Does the "Sussex Squad" actually exist? If so, how do you join? If not, do people ever identify as belonging to it?

If it exists, was it hijacked by SarahData and Bouzy or was it their creation? And, if so, to what extent?

Thanks in advance.

I’d venture to say many of those people hate America also. Also hate capitalism. That’s a popular thing with younger people. Often eschewing traditional jobs. Why should I have to work hard mentality.

BLM was all about Marxism and dismantling traditional familial structures; and very much in favour of the state having a bigger say in the development of children than their parents (in line with certain other ideologies that get their inspiration from the Cultural Revolution). Shame more people didn’t scratch the surface of what they were about before handing over their cash to be misused.

The rank and file may well be. I think some are young though and grew up online. The last 20 years has been so strange. Of the internet provided our main interaction with the world it would have some detrimental results.

There is a chapter in "Spare" where Harry is annoyed because his history teacher expects Harry to know Harry's family history. It is clear that Harry is uninterested.

My impression is that the Harry as King supporters are viewing "the Firm" as an actual firm (like Murdoch enterprises) so that Charles can choose his successor.

My school system and public library was excellent. However, many schools don't cover US history and government let alone world. My nephew went to school with kids who had moved in from another state and had never heard of the Holocaust.

You're right, that episode showed Harry's disengagement. The History teacher was surprised not at his ignorance, exactly, (although that was bad enough), but his lack of interest.

I just can’t get my head around being part of the RF and having no interest in its approx 1200 year history yet bleat on about the importance of Meghan’s heritage. Seems it’s only her heritage that is of any interest to the pair of them particularly as it’s a useful weapon to them in their victimhood, though the titles do come in very handy for the dollar.

I'm pretty sure the anti British stuff is very much tied in with BLM and their calls for slavery reparations. The blame for the current day ramifications of slavery is always laid 100% at the feet of the British and the RF. Never mind that post 1776, the founding fathers chose not to abolish slavery; nor did the US give out free parcels of land to freed slaves as they did to incoming white immigrants, a move which would have made a huge difference to the prosperity of black people.

Don’t forget the horrendous treatment of the indigenous people in America .

It's extraordinary, isn't it?
To have that wealth of culture around him and give it no value.
To complain about the size of his bedroom, ignoring the fact that it was in a palace or a castle.

That's because they don't actually understand the complexity of the history of colonialism. It's just a superficial good countries/bad countries in their eyes.
They're not people apparently capable of nuanced debate. Or opening a history book.

I used to frequent Ask A Manager - I pretty much gave up when IIRC around the time HM died there were discussions about the royals and empire and colonialism. One poster remarked that people hate Britain because of the number of times it didn't mind its own business and invaded other countries - at which point I posted a link of 'countries invaded by the US since the late 19c' and bowed out.

Yeah, the comments section there can be a mess!

Gawd yes - all those nested comments. There used to be a very amusing Blogsnark about AAM on Reddit, don't know if it's still going.

According to the report, experts are predicting both ‘malicious state actors and domestic political operatives’ will use deepfake tech and other media manipulation to confuse voters during the US election campaign

The irony of the Sussexes speaking out against deepfake tech and malicious actors, eh? Still, I'm sure the US will appreciate Harry's input.

myrtleWilson · 09/04/2024 18:37

I do hope Harry is in charge of "brainstorming new content" at Archewell - his podcast proposals show he's on solid ground in brainstorming deliverables...

Why does Mr Bouzy spring to mind!😉

Politics wading eh?

Can they withstand the deep dive into various aspects of their lives?

The scrutiny they’ve been subjected to thus far will almost feel like sociable chit chat in comparison.

Blahdeblah12345 · 09/04/2024 19:47

If they want to interfere in US politics then shouldnt they be relinquishing their British titles? Aside from the fact that their supporters are responsible for the worse kind of misinformation and lies, and therefore they are massive hypocrites, foreign royalty getting involved in the politics of another country is a bit of a no no. I'm embarrassed for them

AFAIK, political ambitions have just been internet rumours.

Even if they existed, there is no way at all they could come to pass. She's not Perot/Trump rich enough to run as an independent. And they've dished too much dirt to be able to be trusted in the backroom deals that are needed to get the support for a position with one of the established parties.

Because they are sharing a platform with the President’s people. The surgeon general, Vivek Murthy shared their platform at that mental health thing they did last October (the one that made them look like evangelicals and MM wearing a really inappropriate off the shoulder outfit). The Aspen Institute and all the other bodies that are seeking to shut down free speech are associated with the Biden administration in one way or another through the people involved. These two have been playing politics since they first got to California and were urging voters to vote for Biden.

IsoldeWagner · 09/04/2024 20:26

Why are they playing politics? Does Harry know anything about it at all?
Also, is he planning on becoming a US citizen? I've no idea what his status is.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 09/04/2024 20:31

Prince Harry sharing a platform with Rene DiResta. Who was Biden’s Disinformation Tsar iirc.

Why has Prince Harry, who claimed to know about the Jan 6 Capitol riot before it happened, never been hauled into Congress to explain just how he knew? Considering it took the FBI by surprise.

Prince Harry Says He ‘Warned’ Jack Dorsey Before the Capitol Riots

At the RE:WIRED conference, the Duke of Sussex spoke with Stanford's Renee DiResta and activist Rashad Robinson about misinformation's deadly consequences.
