From observing Kate & Pippa, Rose & her sister Marina & lots of other women (& men) who married aristos it seems attending top private schools seems to be a prerequisite. Eg Kate & Pippa went to Marlborough, Rose & Marina Stowe..
Does it happen oftern that an average girl who went to a normal comp from a 2 bed terrace marries into landed gentry?

Aristocrats are frequently burdened with money problems (huge crumbling houses to maintain) and family history and obligations. And there are relatively few of them too.

Or how about hooking up with someone nice, kind, genuine, attractive and just solvent?

That is why Pippa married her fella hedgie instead. A life of relative freedom from public scrutiny and unbridled luxury.

My dd briefly went out with someone who was, I think, 25th in line to the throne and she didn't go to private school. She did go the University of Edinburgh though...

Sounds exhausting what the Viscountess has had to put up with.

I know an eldest son who married an American lady. He is quite the catch and would be a fairy tale but the family estate, which is a huge proper castle, is an albatross. They have to send the men out to the City to earn the money to maintain it. The wife has to help out in the day-to-day running. The weight of responsibility of the family estate on the eldest son and his wife is crushing. Not that he can sell it. He would not want to be the one in the family to sell it.

Sometimes I wonder if she knew what she was getting into.

A parochial Catholic School. A private education, but not one of these very expensive exclusive ones.
