The royal family

Betting, 1/17 on that we will get another statement from KP by Friday

Are you with me or against me? (Just a simple yes, or no, please. No silly comments etc. However, a simple post re odds on and when you think the next statement/etc will be made by KP)

We can all make mistakes as we are all human, but KP is there for the royal couple and IMO, KP has let their side down as well as the public.

As many will be aware, it can take years to build up trust but that trust can be lost in a nanosecond.

The sooner KP do this, the better

They don't look like couple about to part!
She has been recovering from major surgery, the King has cancer and looks unwell, I think William has enough to cope with at the moment.
Can we not just leave them be ?

When the previous Prince and Princess of Wales got divorced, it was communicated by a simple statement.

Ummm. What? That saga went on for years!!

1989 - tampongate happened, media knew about it but got blacked out
1990 - 1992 - Diana makes it clear by disseminating pics of her crying in public, turning away from Charles, that she was unhappy
1992 ish - Andrew Morton book
1992 - 95 - all hell broke lose. Tampongate was revealed, Diana was revealed as the source of the Morton book, LOADS of embarrassing infidelity stories alleged about both parties, briefing and counter briefing, children used as pawns in photo opps (skiing/going down water slides/hunting with dad), the infamous annus horilbilis
Separation announced
1996 - FINALLY - divorce announced, not by the Palace but by John Major in HoC
1996 - 7 - loads more briefing and counter briefing, Di's revenge dress, the Bashir interview, paps and gossip and books and hand wringing and hysteria all ending with....the tunnel under the Seine.

Say what you like about it all, but dignified and simple it was not.

If William and Kate's marriage is in crisis, along with her health, which is what I believe, then prepare for years of mud slinging. And lots of MN threads.

Haryy and Meghan had the right idea!

Yes, it was obvious that their marriage was on the slide for a while.

But they didn't go into 'hiding' for months to cover it up, as some here seem to be alleging.

If a divorce announcement is imminent, as again some here seem to be alleging, what would it benefit them to 'fake' a medical condition?

Exactly because of this I expect this is exactly how they won’t let it play out.

I suspect any separation/divorce process would have been hammered out for PW before he even met Kate.

I think the world has moved on a ‘conscious uncoupling’ would be the dignified strategy. Kate is not Diana. And William as a product of C&D will not want that turmoil for his DCs.

JaneAustensHeroine · 13/03/2024 16:52

I think K would put up with a huge amount from W and the rest of the family without throwing in the marriage towel. The only thing that I think might be challenging for her is the potential prospect of George going to boarding school. That said, she would have surely anticipated having limited influence over her children’s education / future when she decided to marry William. I can’t imagine anyone marrying into the RF and thinking that somehow their views might count…

Well, you say that...but this is the royal family after all. Producers of such recent hilarious comedic hits as "I literally can't sweat", "Recollections may vary", "My brother knocked me over onto a dog bowl", "I bet you had fun making a movie about sexual assault" and "The Mothers Day mix up".

Dignity and slick organisation is not something they are known for.

DickEmery · 13/03/2024 15:17

Yes, the Easter bunny will sort it all out.

Good grief that's scary 😨

Estellaa · 13/03/2024 16:59

They won't be separating.

My bet is that there will be no more statements and we'll see Kate on Easter Sunday.

As they said, when they said she'll be convalescing until Easter.

All this speculation is ridiculous. And quite disgusting. For all anyone knows, she lost a pregnancy and a fallopian tube or womb and she's entitled to keep that private. All this hysteria is disgusting.

JaneAustensHeroine · 13/03/2024 17:02

All this has made me wonder what would happen if, say, Kate did have some kind of incident which had left her with some kind of disfigurement. Would this mean she would never be seen in public again? Would she simply retire from public life? Recent events have demonstrated to me how her role is based on her appearance more than her work. What a sad state of affairs.

Lalgarh · 13/03/2024 17:02

Would William have to ask for the permission of the king to divorce?

Yesterday you were giving up.
Knew it would be too good to be true.

Ditto.

In fact I had worked out odds.

Oh dear.

Must admit @DickEmery I am a bit disappointed that your reply wasn’t ’Ooh, you are awful!’ 🤣

Lalgarh · 13/03/2024 17:02

He can hardly say no!

I would put money on the fact they will never divorce even if they were unhappy. K will see it as her duty to stay. W can do whatever he wants anyway. There’s no reason for them to divorce and if they did it would be W instigating it. K didn’t wait around all those years and take W back after he dumped her to throw in the towel now.

I'll go for nothing til the walk to church on Easter Sunday, rictus grin on an immaculate Kate.

Yep, I agree.

Why would George going to boarding school be challenging? Kate went to boarding school as well and apparently enjoyed it.

You also don’t know your history - Eton was where the Spencer’s went to school so Diana clearly had some influence (Charles went to Gordonstone and hated it so probably less likely to push that option on his boys)

Yes spot on

It went on for years until QEII got fed up with it and told them to divorce

We can't rewrite history and say it was just a simple statement

I hope to goodness Kate is alright, luckily she has a strong family round her in the Middletons if it's not all rosy

JaneAustensHeroine · 13/03/2024 17:41

I honestly think she'll just turn up on Easter Sunday at church looking immaculate and they'll carry on as if nothing ever happened.

Agree re turning up to Church looking immaculate. That will happen whether she feels like it or not. There will then be talk of a ‘phased return’ which may be so very phased as to almost be hardly around at all….

I’m as thick as shit, has to be said.

JaneAustensHeroine · 13/03/2024 18:04

Media reports suggest that Kate didn’t want George to go to Eton / boarding school. Just media reports though.

My area of expertise is not the history of the RF but observing family dynamics. I watch people closely for a living.

Media reports also showed them looking at co-ed schools so that Charlotte could go to the same school after a couple of years, and Louis eventually. It would be simpler from a security perspective too. There’s nothing to suggest that either parent are anti-boarding school though.
