Uncle Gary on CBB

What a weasel.
Whilst Kate is clearly very unwell, he thinks it will be a good idea to go on national tv and 'spill the beans'.
I can't see him actually knowing much inside information about the Royals.
More likely he will be slagging Harry and Meghan off, which won't be helpful to either party.
The whole family must be on pins.
I won't be watching, I wouldn't anyway, awful programme.

yeah, the comments about getting through this and having her family around her suggest something other than an op
with a few weeks recovery.... it's typically the kind of comment you make in relation to
someone's mental health

I would say it’s typically the kind of comment you make when you don’t actually know much.

Agree - I doubt he’s in the know about anything. If he’s known for being drunk and belligerent as is they’d trust him with anything.

Reading his response, just sounds like the stock generic response that’s given when someone is inquired after.

ThePoshUns · 07/03/2024 11:55

He doesn't seem to know anymore about the royals than we do.

OP posts:
flippertyjibbets · 07/03/2024 11:57

well,
I guess we'll see. He did attend Pippa and Kate's weddings and Kate/William have stayed in his villa, so I suspect Gary could
be far more indiscreet if he wanted to!
Whatever is going on with Kate will
come out in the wash, as these royal health issues always do. Until then, the speculation will inevitably continue...

Lampzade · 07/03/2024 12:02

Uncle Gary knows sweet FA about what is going on with his niece.

Pushtart · 07/03/2024 12:04

what a horrible man, we know that already, but I was glad to see him trending for being an abuser and Itv being criticised, including by womens aid, for having him on. If his niece is going through something what kind of Uncle would go on this show knowing the only reason you were asked is because you're her Uncle? Nasty individual.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 05/03/2024 21:39

Praying he gets voted off
He’s a blabber and as bad as Meghans family
In fact I’m surprised they didn’t pop a few Markle s in too

As unpleasant as a few of Meghan's family members are, to my knowledge none of them are convicted wife beaters. It is actually really shameful that 'uncle Gary' was invited to appear on CBB and indicative of how lightly violence against women is considered in this country. Women's Aid have spoken out against it too.

Pushtart · 07/03/2024 12:56

Yes @Livingtothefull Women's Aid statement was bang on, as you say, it demonstrates the normalisation of violence against women. Imagine someone who had been convicted of being violent to any other protected or vulnerable group getting cast on it.

feellikeanalien · 07/03/2024 13:18

If he really did care about his niece he wouldn't have gone on to the show in the first place.

If press reports are to be believed then he is not exactly on the breadline so it can't be for the money.

Sadly being a domestic abuser does not seem to stop someone appearing on reality TV. This show and others like it are all about controversy and ratings. If we want to stop this happening then we need to switch off the TV when people like this appear.

Isn't her half brother a wife beater too?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 07/03/2024 13:30

"I presume he was booked to do ( slag off Meghan, his nieces sister in law, who I doubt he has met more than once) and instead will be asked about his niece"

He's never met Meghan at all.

I'm also glad Women's Aid have spoken out about him. He seems like an odious little man. I'll put money on him walking before eviction as I think he knows he's made a mistake going in.

Oh yes probably not. I guessed he'd met her at Kates wedding but she wasn't around. He goes around slagging her off regardless to any media publication who asks, I believe anyway.

BobbyBookcase · 07/03/2024 14:48

"I'm here to change public opinion about me" <falls out of bed pissed> 🤣

ThePoshUns · 07/03/2024 15:03

Exactly @BobbyBookcase I don't think the general public would have known he was until now. And now I know he's a DV perpetrator, so there you go Gary.

Makes me wonder if the personal reasons that Will had to pull out of that event for were anything to do with this. Perhaps they got wind of it a couple of weeks before he went in and there were panic stations. He was supposed to go on before but they didn't want him to in case he embarrassed the royal family (heard he has a criminal record after punching his wife?)

Very unlikely unless there a big fight. I would think someone would manage a short memorial. It has to be more than just this.

Pushtart · 08/03/2024 12:02

This article makes me sick, it's bad enough ITV thought it acceptable to cast him in this show, but this pathetic article in "Hello" tries to paint him as some kind sweet Uncle and even mentions all his marriages and family but omits the domestic violence! This is part of the normalisation of violence against women.

How Princess Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith helped his niece and Prince William following brief split

The Prince and Princess of Wales broke up for a period in 2007

Livingtothefull · 08/03/2024 20:07

That article is really sick making @Pushtart .

Here is another utterly nauseating piece of drivel from today's Evening Standard: https://www.standard.co.uk/comment/uncle-gary-goldsmith-kate-middleton-celebrity-big-brother-family-b1144067.html . I rolled my eyes so much when I read this, my eyeballs nearly gave me concussion.

This article acknowledges GG's assault of one of his wives but goes on to say that he is 'recognisably human', and that all families have their own embarrassing relative just like him. Also, that 'we should be less mean about him'.

It also makes a virtue of the fact that the Middletons haven't cut him off. However, being a wife beater goes beyond merely 'embarrassing' surely?

It also can't resist a gratuitous pot shot at Meghan for not forgiving her father - I half think the whole article was written just to have a go at her? It is weird because a lot of Mumsnetters who posted 'My father sold stories about me on international media for money and published my private correspondence' most people would think the poster was justified in cutting the father off. But apparently for Meghan the standard is different.

Not to get into the rights or wrongs of her decision - but it was her decision and maybe we should just respect it? Anyway, if sticking by difficult relatives is such a good thing maybe the RF should be making things up with Meghan & Harry?

Lots of families have a black sheep like Kate’s Uncle Gary — embrace it

The approved response to the Princess of Wales’s bad Uncle Gary is that of “royal expert” Rupert Bell, who has surfaced to say that it would be better if the wretched man had not appeared on Celebrity Big Brother on account of it putting Kate even more...

TallerSally · 08/03/2024 23:10

Ha ha ha ha ho ho ho ho hee hee hee hee bye bye empty suit uncle Gary the boring vacuous wife-beating loser!

Of course he was always going to be the first to be kicked out of CBB - utterly well deserved! clearly the British public aren’t that RF-obsessed - but, one asks, why was he there in the first place? It’s supposed to be for “celebrities“, yet even before he got his 15 minutes in the spotlight (in some corners) it was obvious that all he is is a degenerate nonentity with a big mouth from which not one interesting utterance could be expected to emerge during his stint on CBB… as proved to be the case.

What a waste of space! 😆😆😝

pipsfromthefuture · 08/03/2024 23:30

Good to hear this asshat got booted the first week!

Uncle Gary knows sweet FA about what is going on with his niece.

Oh, I bet he does.

But it'll be more than he life is worth to spill it all on a TV show.

Mind you, if he does, Channel 4 will probably edit it out.....even the live part of the show has a delay.
