This thread is crazy!

What a huge fuss and speculation.

He's most likely got D&V (one or the other) that's not cleared up as expected.

Or one of the children's done something at school that needs a parent around.

Please stop the silly speculation.

You have just put forward your own speculation!!

HollyKnight · 27/02/2024 16:35

I bet it's threadworms.

wordler · 27/02/2024 16:37

Whatever it was it was unexpected and time sensitive if it couldn’t wait a couple of hours to get through a memorial service where he was already in the programme.

Personal but not Kate’s health.

I wonder if we will ever know.

lemmefinish · 27/02/2024 16:39

Kate is the jewel in the crown for the Monarchy
She rarely puts a foot wrong even if I think she is not terribly interesting. Without Kate in the RF, they will struggle massively

she seems nice enough but she’s boring as that is what she is required to be for some reason, it’s so reductive. What does putting a foot wrong actually look like! Does it make a difference if she’s there or not?

lemmefinish · 27/02/2024 16:39

She doesn’t even do fashion which is her choice but it’s a shame

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 27/02/2024 16:27

Exactly, which is why whatever it was, it wasn't a security threat to or in Windsor.

Exactly. Had the King of Spain and a few other high profile royals pulled out last minute then perhaps security could be a guess, but no chance there was a security issue and the British Queen, Spanish King and Queen, entire Greek rf, 20/30 members of the British RF and numerous reps from other royal families just being left to sit there.

Roussette · 27/02/2024 16:33

But maybe the reality of being a senior royal has become genuinely unbearable. Women who marry in do not tend to have a good time of it with that family.
FWIW I’m definitely not a royalist but I think she has done a very good job and is an asset. As a republican I’d be glad if they lost her! But I don’t want her health to be poor, I hope that goes without saying. I think she’s suffering mentally but I truly hope I’m wrong and that the truth is that she’s walking

Totally agree with this @OrangesLemonsLimes

I too hope health wise she is OK.

I third this.

Vespanest · 27/02/2024 16:43

Not that I think it’s a security threat but there are different types of threats, threats against the individual, the group or the property as examples. Each would have their own level and procedure. A threat against William, Catherine, Meghan or Harry could be of individual nature such as stalking, racism in Meghans case or a nut job from either side of the “fan clubs”. These could be dealt with by removing/protecting the individual rather than cancelling the occasion. The intention of the threat could have nothing to do with the line of succession.

iwiporangi · 27/02/2024 16:44

The point, apart from it being nobody's business, is?

SecondUsername4me · 27/02/2024 16:45

I think the "George has broken his arm" (insert child and limb of choice here) is the most probable.

When I was a kid it was a big deal having a cast - marvellous fun, everyone writing all over it, having to scratch your arm with a ruler, bin bag over it at bathtime.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 27/02/2024 16:45

Given how secure Windsor can be made it makes no sense that a threat against William would be so serious that he had to pull out of an event like this, bit was seen by members of the public leaving in a car

BirthdayRainbow · 27/02/2024 16:48

Obviously they announced that Catherine was doing well because everyone would start speculating that she was poorly and that was why he pulled out. I'm pretty sure they only have one nanny. For the record, if King Charles is happy for William to prioritise his family over work then no one else has the right to complain.

ColleenDonaghy · 27/02/2024 16:48

An injury for one of the DC does seem like the most likely explanation.

Well, either that or poor George is going to have to wear a fake cast for the next 6 weeks to cover up his half sibling's birth Wink

ListerMummy · 27/02/2024 16:48

Seems like it’s a slow news day.

Bookist · 27/02/2024 16:49

Speaking of security, would George, Charlotte and Louis each have their own protection officer who sits in the classrooms with them all day at school?

Any Lambrook parents on here that can confirm this? 😁
I sincerely doubt kids sign a confidentiality contract & spill everything that happens in school in the car home☺️

Moving away from my security threat speculation.

It could be something really prosaic like raging toothache, or laryngitis or something else which would have stopped him standing up to do a reading. Rather stupidly the RF announcement decided to state ‘personal reasons’ rather than a minor health problems to reduce more health-related speculation.

Whatever they had said would have caused speculation.
Isn’t that why we have a Royal Family to endlessly chat shit about their boring lives!

LipstickLil · 27/02/2024 16:54

The (presumably) unintended consequences of William pulling out and Charles receiving treatment for cancer is that the various tabloids are full of headlines like this: https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1871210/prince-andrew-windsor-memorial-service-royal-family

Not good optics for the RF to be letting Andrew 'lead the family' into church.

Andrew sparks fierce backlash for leading Royal Family at Windsor memorial event

Prince Andrew has made a rare public appearance as he was invited to attend a memorial service for King Constantine II of Greece.

I third this.

Yes she seems to have gone from doing what her mother wanted ( get William) to doing what the RF want( shut up, look pretty, don't scare the horses and produce some heirs) all her adult life. Maybe now she's got a bit older she's developed a bit of a backbone. I'd be surprised if she did that though. Why not live separately and pretend a few times a year?

cuckyplunt · 27/02/2024 13:17

That’s “personal” with a “p”.

Maybe mind our own beeswax???

It is our beeswax. We pay for them.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 27/02/2024 16:56

PR does seem to have gone to shit since the late queen died; although if they'd said 'minor health problem' (if that's what it is) there'd still be all the speculation about cover-ups and smoke screens and imminent divorces and the like.

SqueakingMouse · 27/02/2024 16:58

Probably had a ding dong with Kate over who ate the last breakfast egg and stormed down to the local wetherspoons while shouting fuck it.
He'll be sprawled out on the bed now drunkenly rambling to himself.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 27/02/2024 16:58

I think the issue for the Pr was that he was going to be seen going out, and presumably will be seen coming back later.

Anything health wise would be met with “he looked fine” “he’s well enough to go galavanting”.

Exactly. Their job is to represent us on the world stage. Not cry off events at an hours notice and leave their shadiest relative to gurn away with his ex wife like he's the cat that's got the cream.
