William could speak about his mother if he wanted to. Harry has chosen to do so, William rarely has.

William has not been ‘written out of his mother’s narrative.’ He just rarely speaks about her publicly. That’s his choice.

Where does the ‘tissues under the bathroom door’ story come from anyway? Has William spoken about it? Or has it been written up as fact by some royal ‘expert’?

I loved it too, and Buffy (the musical episode - sublime), and I still love hate them, but think the 1990s were bad for women for a plethora of reasons, including their popular culture depiction and the evolution of feminism through it.

You’d probably hate my, “House Was The Most Racist Show On TV” thesis as well 😂

"Once More with Feeling" is my favorite episode of television of all time. In case you missed it, Hinton Battle, who played Sweet, passed yesterday. He had a long and rich career, including three Tony awards.

Andrew Morton wrote about that story about William pushing tissues under the bathroom door.
As we know now, that means it came directly from Diana.

jeffgoldblum · 01/02/2024 13:46

I imagine that William doesn't talk publicly about his mother and feelings now because he probably feels he's shared more than enough of his grief about his mother during the awful display at her funeral!

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 01/02/2024 13:57

Yes; I’m not criticising William in regards to his rarely choosing to speak publicly about his mother:

I’ve just said that he chose not to do so, but Harry has chosen otherwise.

Mylovelygreendress · 01/02/2024 14:15

I think what is distasteful is that Harry talks about his mother to make money . I am sure he misses her but to repeatedly talk about her and be paid for it sticks in the craw.

I loved it too! I watch it a couple of times a year. Still makes me laugh out loud and then tear up a bit, and love Spike and Buffy together. I hadn’t heard that Hinton Battle had died, thanks for letting me know. So sad that such a talent is no longer with us. He was so wonderful in OMWF. Gorgeous voice and amazing comic timing. The bit where Xander asks him if he has to be his queen, and HB replies with perfect delivery, “It’s tempting, but I think we’ll wave that clause just this once….” - cracks me up ever time.

@jeffgoldblum Did Mandy Patinkin do a runner? I remember reading an article many many years ago saying that he occasionally walked off series, usually for a seemingly good reason. Things like 'Chicago Hope' it didn't matter but 'Dead like me' only had a very small cast - that's if I've got the right one.

jeffgoldblum · 01/02/2024 18:44

Yes @Tezza1 , I think he might have done !
Or he was being difficult ( rumours obviously?) Shame as he was very good!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 01/02/2024 18:56

Mandy Patinkin walked off Criminal Minds I think (certainly just did the first series). IIRC, he said he found the storylines too disturbing.

"Once More with Feeling" is my favorite episode of television of all time.

<Whispers> Clearly in a minority but that was my least favourite Buffy episode. I think my favourite was 'The Gentlemen'. So deliciously creepy 💀

My nomination for a great series pulled without warning is 'The Path' on Prime. I love a bit of brainwashed cult and it was shaping up really well 😡

Mandy Patinkin was awesome in 'Homeland'. If anyone's after a long series that didn't get pulled I can highly recommend it.

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2024 20:23

Now MP is up there with my cups of tea. F Murray Abraham also. One phrase they used has been engraved on my keyring. It is very me for many reasons.

I absolutely adored Homeland - again, for many, many reasons.

I have an image from there as my screensaver.

Anyone would think I was a fan or something.

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2024 20:25

I think I read that too milkshake

There have been some episodes of Criminal Minds that have been a hard watch.

Noooo don’t even whisper it! But yes, those creepy floating gentlemen are 😱

Homeland is brilliant, I loved the complicated and dislikable heroine at the heart of it, so different from the cookie cutter female leads of other similar series. Clare Danes is so good in the lead role. I had a lovely chat once at a do with Damian Lewis and his late wife, Helen McCrory. Such a nice bloke and amazing actor. It was a mark of the quality of Homeland that big cast decisions didn’t ruin the narrative.

F Murray Abraham will always be Salieri to me. Love him.

Yes, I thought the sickening criminal acts got more and more gratuitous as it went on, and the FBI characters more and more absurd. Those daft police briefings where they all finish each other’s sentences used to make me laugh, though.

We saw Damian Lewis in a very disturbing play called something about a goat named Sylvia - there was no interval, which I am sure was to stop people leaving! A man falling in love with a goat did nothing for DH and I and left DD very embarrassed! Grin

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2024 23:16

Just had a quick look at that - it wouldn’t be for me.

now the next Wolf Hall lot is a different matter entirely. And twirls us (rather than pivots!) us back to errant royalty. 😁

It can’t come soon enough.

Gardeningtime · 02/02/2024 07:42

Well apparently some Netflix rep said Harry and Megan had a bunch of stuff in the pipeline, which I find an odd thing to suddenly come out with, but hey ho

we knew about meet me at the lake, confused about what else there could be.

its odd, on one side I want them to settle down, and do some work and stop all the nonsense, on the other hand, I don’t think I’ve ever seen two less deserving people of success than that pair. Who, if they achieve something, it’s purely based on the royal families name and money. After earning so much attacking them.

MrsFinkelstein · 02/02/2024 07:50

There was talk about an adaptation of Great Expectations focusing on Miss Havisham I think.

It'll be interesting to see what they do, and I hope they do genuinely do well.

At the moment it seems everything is languishing in development/pre-production hell. The quote from the NF rep does sound like the sort of generic stuff people say when not a lot is actually being done, but there's a lot of "talking".

Harry and Meghan working on movie, TV series and other shows at Netflix | Culture | The Guardian

Netflix via the Guardian - Netflix's Chief Content Officer answering a question at a preview of Netflix's 2024 content.

It doesn't seem to add up to much - he was asked a question and came up with a bland and non-committal answer.

Despite speculation about couple’s Netflix deal ending, company’s chief content officer says duo working on ‘bunch’ of projects

I thought that, but apparently it's now been dismissed and apparently it never came from them, it was just gossip

MM said back in November that she had a lot of things on the slate which she was excited about and can't wait to talk about. Perhaps those are the same projects that NF is now alluding to?

StormzyinaTCup · 02/02/2024 08:37

The 'bunch of stuff' that is in the 'very early stages of development' sounds like a lot of work so the couple will need to get a move on as they only have, I think, one year left of their Netflix contract and not much has been forthcoming over the last four years.

I think it's likely wishful thinking by both parties, especially when you think back to Bill Simmons 'grifters' comments.

Gardeningtime · 02/02/2024 08:42

Not sure, that was the chief content officer who made the comment. Said they had a movie, a couple of unscripted shows and a scripted tv show.

part of me wonders though if Netflix have to show willing here, otherwise they may face legal action from Harry and Megan when the contract ends, that they never intended to work with them, or fulfil the contract, thus owning them money,
