Social media leaking news of POW hysterectomy

It goes without saying its only her business, however I found it odd that whilst 'doomscrolling' from sleeplessness I came across a couple of posts from US news sites claiming they had news obtained from 'Palace sources' posted onto SM.

We all know that KP is somewhat leaky but over something like this? (I suppose Maybe if the price was right?)
Or is it just speculation passed off as the truth?
Or, are US news sources avowed to publish info that uk ones aren't?

I'm not particularly interested in what she's had done, surgery is unpleasant, full stop, But I'm just wondering if there's a reason the story is in US but not uk news-if it even real ( which seems slightly unlikely I would think, but then you never know about anyone personal life).
Just found out odd and curious as to the whys

@smilesy exactly - I think you have misunderstood my post. The person I was referring to is the random person, not the person who told them. I don't see how the person that didn't work in the clinic and wasn't testing her, but was apparently told about it, could be reported as people have been saying. The person that owed the duty of confidentiality could be I assume.

ohmydiddlydays · 20/01/2024 13:34

Sorry - treating her. I mean if I read it here and then go and tell someone else, I can't be reported. I don't owe her any duty of confidentiality. And from what @Barrenfieldoffucks has and neither does her relative. So it's a bit annoying that people are saying she should be reported.

User3563573 · 20/01/2024 13:34

It's a massive breach of GDPR.(data protection laws)
Anyone working in healthcare will know this FULL WELL, it's drilled into you.

Not entirely true, especially if it involves a very high profile patient. George Michael had a diagnosis that was never made public or mentioned in the media but we found out at a house party with a lot of medical students, some of whom were working at the hospital where he was being treated. They didn't go around telling everyone but it came up in passing and they basically mouthed it without saying anything out loud and the conversation just moved on. I can well believe that whatever Kate has will be known within certain circles.

WestwardHo1 · 20/01/2024 13:37

Poor Kate ☹️. This is awful.

I'm sure that the 100% knowledge that people are speculating about her insides is making her feel worse. People have always talked in hushed gossipy tones about anything to do with reproductive or digestive organs, like it was shameful. I doubt there would be anything like this if it was heart or lungs.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 12:38

I believe you entirely. I found out about cancer diagnosis of senior members of the royal family in our local hairdressers as the dh of one was a driver! We knew about HMQ cancer two years before everyone else. And there is another now too. Some people are very indiscreet.

Including you it seems.

Yes but isn’t everyone who works in healthcare supposed to keep patient confidentiality? Otherwise what would be the point in it. And as other posters have pointed out, if private healthcare was “leaky”, no one would use it 🤷‍♀️

Tell no, because I have used a past tense and didn’t post anything at the time. So it seems I am discreet - but quite frankly I find it all rather silly. Whatever is wrong with Kate is nothing that can’t be tolerated by society, so I hope she will find the confidence to talk about it openly in due course.

ohmydiddlydays · 20/01/2024 13:45

@smilesy I think they need to keep patient confidentiality if they're their patient. I assume it extends to people working in the same place who have access to patient medical records. I don't think it extends to people who happen to work in the same field and have heard something that may or may not even be true on the professional grapevine. I may be wrong though.

willWillSmithsmith · 20/01/2024 13:46

So far she’s in for an ED, endometriosis, a stoma bag, being treated for hard drugs and having a nervous breakdown.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 13:47

I have no doubt many will work out the diagnosis from the surgeon that was chosen. Likely to be a world leading pioneer that specialises in certain conditions.

ohmydiddlydays · 20/01/2024 13:47

I was just a bit confused by your post as it says confidentiality means not telling random people which is exactly my point, so wasn't sure what the 🙄 was about.

Her body. Her choice.

I know. Plus, some people seem to have access to the private details...🙄

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 20/01/2024 14:04

You are really invested in this, Newchapterbeckons, to the point of engaging in stalking like behaviour, ie trying to work out the condition from who the surgeon is.

No one owes you confidence to speak up about their medical conditions.

Yes, they are.

Hospitalshmospital · 20/01/2024 14:06

Just leave her alone. We don't need to know. This ridiculous speculation is so out of order. Respect her privacy ffs

What a weird thing to say. I am talking about other staff unrelated to the clinicians caring for her! Not random people second guessing…I think you misunderstood my post.

Yes but most people won’t have the first idea what a surgeon specialises in. Would you know? Of course not.

It’s only relevant to the staff and a handful of patients at the most. I don’t even think the public would find out who is the lead surgeon for the RF.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 14:23

To be clear I was talking about hospital staff that were not tasked with caring for the princess but working in the same hospital. Not members of the public or MN!

Reddog1 · 20/01/2024 14:37

Things definitely do leak, though. My friend house-shared with a couple of therapeutic radiographers in the 1990s, I often heard which celebrities were being treated for cancer. A bit like the PP’s George Michael story.

When a mildly well-known person was hospitalised in my small town following a self-harm incident last year, word got around. Someone knew the tea lady’s auntie’s mate or something I suppose. Who knows. The person themself tweeted about it weeks later but I already knew.

Therefore, I’d say that it is very unlikely that Kate’s op isn’t being discussed in certain circles, let’s be honest. It’s not ok, but it’s the case.

MoneyMoneyMoneyy · 20/01/2024 14:40

What makes you so sure re bulimia / stomach lining?

loobylou10 · 20/01/2024 14:42

FarleyHatcherEsq
It's a bulimia related stomach issue. I think they will have to operate to save her stomach as the lining has gone. Is my theory. Feel horrible typing that but its what the evidence points to.

⬆️

What absolute rot, I'm actually embarrassed for you.

DojaPhat · 20/01/2024 14:42

To be fair, if I were a royal I would take a 3 weeks off if I'd chipped a toenail. Anything is better than forcing myself to look enthralled at meeting the new local councillor of Tibbles Town while he shows me artwork painted by the town's local toddler group.

NeedToChangeName · 20/01/2024 14:44

CurlewKate · 20/01/2024 07:48

Just seems weird that they don't shut down all the speculation by saying what it is. I realise she shouldn't have to, but it would all die down in a few days if they did.

@CurlewKate I don’t think they should disclose the nature of ill health, as it sets a precedent. There may be some conditions they woukd be happy to disclose, others miore personal
