Middleton's company

There is an article on this in the Daily Mail website.,Apparently the Middletons party company has gone bust with debts of £2.6 m. And lots of creditors are owed money. Somebody has put posters up round their village.

Now so don't really approve of this but it is a bit galling to think of those multi millionaires not paying their debts to smaller businesses that could lose their livliehoods.

The strange thing is - why HAVENT the ‘royals’ quietly sorted it

Theyve left the Middletons exposed .

They did their utmost to clean up after Andrew and that was worse

Surprising, isn't it? William must be ok for the Middletons to have suffered very damaged reputations, otherwise he could have sorted it discreetly before any of this came to the attention of the public.

He could have injected some capital funding to restore their cash flow, pay all outstanding creditors, and then the solvent company could have been just dissolved in an orderly way. No-one would have been any the wiser, with the Middleton's retirement being given as the reason. Everyone would have been happy.

I do feel for those poor small business suppliers being left out of pocket. Legally but not morally acceptable.

Novella4 · 17/10/2023 10:17

Actually , whoever pointed out that the Middletons own several properties and could sell one to pay their creditors is right .
Moral example and all that !

But the Windsors are going down the kardashian route now aren’t they .

ALittleTeawithmilk · 17/10/2023 10:22

@Novella4 @DaphneduM

i was thinking the same thing.

Yes and I think its crazy how many people think its ok for multi millionaires to do what they've done, especially after she personally promised people she would pay them, and that she can and chooses not to. I would never do that, I would feel so guilty owning so much and leaving people with so much less out of pocket! If this came out anyone else in the public eye had done it we would be having a very different conversation on MN about it too!

Highandlows · 17/10/2023 10:29

I imagine the uproar if William pay the debts the common people would be saying it was done with tax papers money. Really strange the Middletons would have put a foot wrong when their daughters are very exposed. Does not add up. They know better than that.

Kardashian may be M & H yes.

Roussette · 17/10/2023 10:39

Bingo! We have a M&H reference doing them down, huzzah!

What a surprise. Not.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 17/10/2023 10:45

Yes @Roussette how many edits does one need to try and bring them into it!

Highandlows · 17/10/2023 10:48

No of course not. I guess that is who they are referring to when comparing to Kardashian’s.

What is the issue with editing? How ridiculous.

Roussette · 17/10/2023 10:50

Editing is meant to be for spelling mistakes, or one word changes, not for whole sentences added to a post. Go on Site Stuff and you will see this from MNHQ.

Highandlows · 17/10/2023 10:55

Thanks for telling me. What is the rationale behind this?

stillavid · 17/10/2023 11:21

I have never thought the Middletons were as wealthy as people speculated and would love to see evidence of all the properties they own.

I struggle to see how their company made anywhere enough to pay for holidays to Mustique and Kate's wedding dress and have never believed they paid for it. I reckon William has been bunging them money for years.

A lot of the RF struggles would have been made simpler if they were more generous with the people and families of those who marry in.

Roussette · 17/10/2023 11:33

Highandlows · 17/10/2023 10:55

Maybe ask them? When they introduced it they said it was for fixing spelling mistakes and minor grammar errors.
Not sure that needs a rationale!

Roussette · 17/10/2023 11:37

Well... yes. I am no fan of Sarah Ferguson but they treated her appallingly money wise. If they had been more generous maybe she wouldn't have had to flog herself round the States selling Wedgewood and Weight watchers, and write all those books under her Duchess title. She was Mother to two Princesses of the realm after all, but they just cast her aside financially

stillavid · 17/10/2023 11:40

Exactly. I also think they treated H&M a bit shoddily regarding their accommodation. I mean come on, they are hugely rich in terms of assets and cash - give them a decent house.

I will never understand the Royal properties - I mean Sophie and Edward live in an enormous house and yet Harry was given Frogmore Cottage.

Sarah Ferguson was totally shafted financially. And I think a generous amount of cash to Harry like a settlement agreement would have meant things didn't turn so acrimonious especially if it had a nice confidentiality clause ;)

Roussette · 17/10/2023 11:48

Come on 😂... it only has 120 rooms and just the two of them when DCs are at Uni/boarding school.

Highandlows · 17/10/2023 12:00

@Roussette I am not that bother to ask but since you reply I thought you could explain what is the motive. It is ridiculous that comments are now made on people editing to be sarcastic or offensive.

H & M were offered an apartment at Kensington but the cost for maintenance and asbestos removal was a higher cost than the maintenance needed at Frogmore, so they chose frogmore- it also held some significance to them and I believe they liked it. While others wanted huge palaces, I think they actually preferred Frogmore.

I don't know why Sophie and Edward need such a big place tbh

4 bedrooms, a nursery and 4 bathrooms is hardly slumming it !

Why are you asking me? I didn't set up the editing function or stipulate what it should be used for! I'm just a random person posting on MN!
(It is explained in Site Stuff and maybe take it up with MNHQ and ask what the 'motive' or 'rationale' is! )

CesareBorgia · 17/10/2023 14:00

@Highandlows Edits which change the content of posts, as opposed to corrections, are not allowed because other posters might reply to the original content. So you could have the scenario where a ranty post was changed to something reasonable, and then all the posters rightly calling out the rant would look bad.

stillavid · 17/10/2023 14:31

I know Frogmore Cottage isn't slumming it but its hardly what his peers would be living in.

His brother was renting a house in Wales and then living at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington palace at the same stage of his life (engaged, then newly married and then with one child). Eugenie, Jack and later August were living in another cottage at Kensington Palace and Beatrice an apartment at St James Palace. What peers did you have in mind?

pinkmont · 17/10/2023 14:46

Do you think the Middletons would even accept being bailed out by either of their son in laws ?

I could not imagine my father or father in law accepting money from any of their son in laws, no matter how hard up they were. Not least of all the outcry if it was William who bailed them out.

The Middletons business will likely have been in that whole quagmire of business not getting paid and their customers also going into administration , it was a big chain with a domino effect on all businesses and with a particularly devastating impact on the sector they were in.

The Middletons have to take in on the chin, like thousands of other businesses who went out of business during covid.

stillavid · 17/10/2023 17:20

By peers I mean the type of wealthy people he went to school with and would have expected to continue to socialise with.

Look I am not fan of Harry but honestly a lot of the bad feeling could have been avoided by giving them a sort of smaller version of Anmer Hall. He would certainly have had less to moan about.

It seems pretty reasonable to assume that William has helped out the Middleton family with a larger house. I think it would have been wise of Charles to do the same for Harry and Meghan and here family.

In the same way it would have been less embarrassing for all if Sarah Ferguson had not been quite so hard up financially.

For some reason, I’ve not been invited round either yet, but I think Anmer and Frogmore are similar sizes…. Both started of as 10 bedroom houses.
