Middleton's company

There is an article on this in the Daily Mail website.,Apparently the Middletons party company has gone bust with debts of £2.6 m. And lots of creditors are owed money. Somebody has put posters up round their village.

Now so don't really approve of this but it is a bit galling to think of those multi millionaires not paying their debts to smaller businesses that could lose their livliehoods.

Wow!! That certainly is one way!

Good for her. The fallout effects of the Middleton's shoddy behaviour deserve to be highlighted.

Interesting though that baby bro has recently moved into a £1.45m pile despite two failed business ventures and the third currently tanking.

How the other half live...

”Baby Bro” as you call him is married. His wife has worked in finance for her entire career, and her diplomat father died shortly before their wedding. So it’s perfectly possible her earnings and a possible inheritance also went towards their property.

True. His parents may have given them a nice wedding gift like a tidy sum or something to help secure a home. Or I'm sure the connection of the last name isn't a bad thing either

I hadn’t actually seen the posters until today - lol - well she certainly got her message across!

Oh well, someone is obviously desperately trying to get their new "career" off the ground.

Using the Royal Family as a way to promote your Only Fans account is pretty low and crass. Still, she got her name in the paper.

In that case let's hope she's taken tips from her husband and in-laws in how to keep luxurious assets out of the hands of creditors.

It did occur to me actually, that the Middletons famously having benefitted from a family trust set up by one of Michael Middleton’s ancestors, may have set up something similar for the benefit of their children and grandchildren (not all of whom are royal, or guaranteed to always be well off, of course).

It’s pretty common, particularly so in people who are personally liable for the debts of their business - so partners in a partnership, for example (as Party Pieces was for most of its life). Before the introduction of Limited Liability Partnerships, pretty much all partners in law firm and accounting firms would set up a family trust to protect their assets in the event of a business failure.

If the Middletons had done this (which is obviously complete speculation on my part) it is the trust that would own their house, not Michael and Carole personally. So it can’t be sold even if they were to be bankrupted, as they no longer own it. The usual structure is to give the settlors of the trust the right to remain in the property for the rest of their lives, but any value from it is for the trust beneficiaries, not them personally.

I had to reread that to figure out which baby bro and which tanking business ventures you meant.

Interesting random fact one for today is that James Middleton's registered business address (alongside some 40 others) is in Poundbury at an address offering virtual office services and mail forwarding.

Second is that 100g bags of dog treats are a whopping £6 while relatively small bags of dog chow cost an arm and a leg between £25 and over £30.

Surprising to see that kind of innocent optimism in a COL crisis not to mention hounds acquired in lockdown being handed to rescue centres in droves.

Dog food can be eye poppingly expensive! Our pampered pooch’s favourite treats (Lily’s Kitchen) are £4 for 70g!

😮

Thankfully the mog's favourite Whiskas pouches come in at a frugal £12.50 for 40....

Serenster · 30/10/2023 22:45

The dog used to eat actual food from Lily’s Kitchen too until we worked out it was pretty much as expensive as our own food 🤣

Actually it is the Middletons debt. The buyer of the company took on the company WITHOUT the debts. The buyer is not responsible for any of the debts. I still find it entirely reprehensible that William cannot be bothered to helped pay off these debts when his Duchy of Cornwall yearly salary is over 24 million. It's not only odd when in regards to their marriage but also its just tacky. He really is telling everyone he could care less about everyone else in his country IMO despite it being his debts or not. It just highlights where his priorities really lay and that's not about the public, small businesses nor his wife.

Novella4 · 07/11/2023 09:26

@Nilsine

The whole story is odd from start to finish .
Who knew that children’s birthday tat could generate so many millions ?
But yes the Middletons should really have done the right thing. Many company owners do .
Yes I know there was nothing illegal about stiffing your creditors but it looks so calculated .
Many creditors said they had personal assurances and they were reassured by the Middletons family connection to ‘royalty ‘
But the ‘royals ‘ have always filled their own pockets and to hell with the little people .
So it reflects very badly on Willaim in particular . He has millions and millions annually now and he’s letting those creditors go unpaid . The middletons are his family .
How they can keep a straight face during that nonsense religious anointing conanation I’ll never know . He should do the right thing

So odd that the Windsors are letting this bad publicity happen . I think creditors are owed over 2 million. Tax payers too of course in the formof loans
And all in the middle of a cost of living crisis

Very poor all round

CanIPetThatDawg · 07/11/2023 09:52

I too find it strange that William wouldn’t step in and pay the debts off with funds from his private fortune. Obviously the Middletons should have paid off their own debts, I find that kind of behaviour abhorrent, but I’d have thought once it was clear that wasn't happening that William would have wanted to quash any related bad publicity before it started. Wonder what Kate thinks of it all. Almost seems like a slight against her and her parents.

This. 💯

If another Royal daughter in laws mother owed £2 million to small suppliers and the taxman.........

Samcro · 07/11/2023 10:00

@LadyEloise1 so agree,
the whole thing is odd. PW is supposed to be so close to his inlaws. can't understand why he wouldn't pay. (or get Kate to pay) I can only assume the inlaws must have said no. (awful if true)

Novella4 · 07/11/2023 10:06

Why would they put their pride ahead of their debts ?
That makes no sense . Refusing help to pay their creditors is WORSE than not paying .
We have no idea if William offered and I doubt he has as we would have heard about it ( ‘leaks ‘)

GreekDogRescue · 24/11/2023 18:43

Agree. The whole thing stinks. I so want to be a royalist but it is increasingly hard
