Just a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the Princess of Wales' fab outfits and some of the many great causes she supports.

I absolutely love this green suit, which she wore on Tuesday in Leeds

Princess Kate's affordable chunky gold necklace is the ultimate cool-girl accessory

The Princess of Wales rocked a piece by New York-based jewellery label Laura Lombardi that's perfect for for everyday

I know that we all like to look at the fashions but really it is the people wearing them who are more important. Kate has done a fantastic job in her support of the RF, her support of William and her children. Pushing fashion boundaries is not what it is about really is it? @Roussette what kind of things do you think she should be wearing?

skullbabe · 08/12/2023 20:29

I agree that her style has definitely seen a change since Elizabeth died - I really thought those coat dresses were so aging. She looks lovely, polished but not so formal most of the time now - it’s been a great transition for her.

LimeCheesecake · 08/12/2023 20:38

To be fair, I did feel like when she first joined the family, it seemed deliberate to dress Catherine in an aging way, to try to give her more gravitas.

Yes, her style has definitely changed since Meghan, and I think it's obvious she's been influenced by Meghan.

Which is a good thing, and was obvious long before EII passed.

Not sure why Kate fans try to deny this. Kate's finding her way and she has had some misses but good looks recently.

wordler · 08/12/2023 21:08

My problem with Kate's fashion choices is once she gets into a look she gets addicted to doing in every single time in every colour. So first it was all the coat dresses, then all the big long woolen fitted coats, now it's trouser suits.

I wonder if it's because it's a 'work uniform' so she (a bit like Steve Jobs) tries something on and then tells her assistant to get one in every colour and schedule them into the next 20 events and then she doesn't have to worry or think about what she's going to be wearing next!

Actually it's not a bad plan - I hate worrying about what to wear especially at this time of year with all the social events - I might adopt the technique - minus the assistant of course.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2023 21:11

Trouser suits are of course very sensible for Autumn and Winter.

parksandrecs · 08/12/2023 21:11

Who was it - Alistair Campbell? maybe not? - who said packing is easy for male politicians because they just have to wear either a grey suit or a navy suit

No idea! I don;t have the best fashion designers at my beck and call.

I'm not criticising her, I am just saying I have looked at how she's dressed before on a link someone posted and now compared to before is so much more interesting. She is very beautiful with a fab figure, she can push the boundaries a bit I feel.

parksandrecs · 08/12/2023 21:13

And yet no-one would suggest that men in the public eye should/could 'push the boundaries a bit'

parksandrecs · 08/12/2023 21:14

A bit misogynistic, maybe?

We're on a thread about fashion and Kate 'out and about'. Do I not have an opinion?

I agree that men don't have the same challenges but start a thread about how William dresses and I'll be there. I do have opinions on that!

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2023 21:15

I'd like Wills to push the boundaries a bit. It does get more exciting than a velvet jacket, William, I promise. (I love the velvet jackets and would like DH to get one.)

Are you?

I'm not. This thread has been about Kate and what she's wearing, in case you hadn't noticed!

I agree and think it makes sense. But it was so matronly I could never like what she wore, except for a few very nice coat dresses.

Then she hit 40 , and it was like her coatdress-style finally matched her age.

I like some of her outfits these days though, especially that cream knit 2 peice and the slimfit McQueen suits. Love

I think the McQueen pantsuit was a style borrow from Meghan, I remember her wearing a black one to an event with Harry, carrying an umbrella if anyone remembers.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2023 21:16

Speaking of velvet: I'd like to see a velvet dress make an appearance this Winter. It's so lovely.

Roussette · 08/12/2023 21:17

especially that cream knit 2 peice

I think I know which one you mean. And I posted how much I loved it.

Give it up. I am trying to post as others on here. Fashion. That's it.
Stop making it personal.
Thanks

parksandrecs · 08/12/2023 21:24

I don't comment on her looks or outfits, because I would hate to be judged the way women in the public eye get judged for their looks.

I would have thought you would object to it as well.

As I said, my mistake. You are happy for women to be judged by their looks and 'fashion sense' i.e. approval by the media

queentim · 08/12/2023 21:26

Does that apply to every poster on this thread and in the Style and Beauty section, or just @Roussette?

Roussette · 08/12/2023 21:27

Can you stop this please?

I am just posting on a thread about fashion. No need for PAs

Just me apparently!

I love fashion and like to comment on it. Whoever is wearing that fashion

I think it's okay to discuss Kate's outfits because she clearly uses fashion and jewelry to send a message, show allegiance or connections with people, or to boost British brands and companies. It's very much part of her job to a certain extent.

I always think she looks amazing and far better than I would in the same situation but if I were her I wouldn't mind someone saying they didn't like a particular outfit.

I do think it's a shame that in the news they lead with her appearance rather than the cause she is promoting.

parksandrecs · 08/12/2023 21:30

I am all in favour of women expressing appreciation of other women for their style.
