Andrew, his £3M per year Security and Priti Patel

Well I never.

Andrew is at it again.

He lost his security last year. He enlisted the help of Priti Patel to have it reinstated. She lobbied Charles's Private Security to this purpose, and someone has leaked that.

He never gives up does he....

@secretpath @upinaballoon I agree with what you are saying @Serenster remains calm even when being provoked. Unlike certain other posters she is never patronising.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 26/08/2023 08:23

I would again suggest we do not respond to any goading or PA's, just report them, as we have been asked to.

Thank you. I totally agree. This thread is not about a particular poster but about Andrew, his security (or lack of), Patel and the wider picture with regard to security for the RF.

I wonder if the security question for Andrew is all about him still wanting to be more prominent. A couple of the headlines have said 'Andrew trying to "win back" his taxpayer funded protection'

I would just love to know the connection with Patel.

I was hoping we would have more news about the details. I am intrigued as to when this happened.

Roussette · 26/08/2023 08:37

There is a new docuseries out named "Secrets of Prince Andrew" (original title "Andrew, the Problem Prince")

It explores the chain of events leading to the carcrash interview.

It is a 4 hour documentary, unforunately I believe only available on AETV in the US.

Thanks Roussette.

The result, which aired in November of that year, was an almost hour-long discussion between Andrew and Maitlis. Recorded at his mother’s residence, Buckingham Palace, it immediately turned the prince into a pariah.

This is the bit the I don't get. Its all been framed as stupid Andrew did this all on his own, master of his own disaster and all that. But he did this at BP. The Queen must of known? The palace staff? Nobody saw The BBC crew come in? did he do it in some hidden corner?

Roussette · 26/08/2023 09:19

Interesting. I think he really was a law unto himself. I think he probably manipulated his mother, and if he was set on a course of action, nothing could stop him. (this is just my personal opinion with nothing to back that up factually)

As the article says... the extraordinary part is Andrew's 'team' high fiving at the end of the interview, not having a clue about how damaging it was. They wanted the TV crew and Maitlis to hang around for gin and tea... but they scurried off knowing what a hot potato they were handling.

Sadly the staff are as institutionalised and detached from normal people as the royals are.

Novella4 · 26/08/2023 09:30

@Roussette
I’m sure I saw ‘the problem Prince’ on Channel 4

unless there is another programme with the same name

One interesting detail from the programme was that Andrew / his staff contacted the BBC with the offer of an interview but they wanted to control the areas discussed and wouldn’t allow any discussion of Epstein.
So the producers declined

So desperate must he / they have been for the floor that Andrew / his team then said they would do the interview with no such restrictions

Roussette · 26/08/2023 09:38

@Novella4

Definitely new... there are PR and articles on it, and it's just been talked about on ABC and GMA News as a 'new documentary'

One could almost feel sorry for him....

Oh... and PA's 'friend and legal adviser' was interviewed for this new doc. He was fired after the carcrash interview aired. Nothing to lose I suppose...

If Patel wrote the letter some time ago, the timing of the leak is interesting considering other royal news focus recently.

Novella4 · 26/08/2023 09:50

Clearly the ‘royals’ pull political strings all the time, behind the scenes.

The real question is who leaked this and why ?

Was it BH - to put Andrew back in his box or to even to gauge public reaction ?

Charles got his ‘nothing to see here’ news out while Willy was being roasted .
But this leak now has the heat off Willy and back on Andrew .
Handy that they all have their self imposed scandals to use to brief against each other .

In fact this first year of Charles’ reign has been grim for the Winsdors .

Last thing - since we are ‘told’ the committee are all completely independent of any ‘royal’ influence - why did Patel appeal to Charles and not the committee …

Oh !
Can we see it here or will be another banned programme?

If the advisor was Paul Tweed he was on the channel 4 programme. I think he was a solicitor . He gave Andrew the excellent advice to keep his mouth shut and his head down .
Andrew ignored him

Novella4 · 26/08/2023 09:54

@Iwantcakeeveryday
sorry I didn’t see your post .

I made the same point about the timing .

It’s like we were saying yesterday - the timing really is the key.

As Home Sec there is justification for wanting to know that the process was robust.

As a backbencher it would be very odd, especially as she was Home Sec so why not bring it up then.

Definitely be interesting to know if they know each other well as well, and how well. Reading last night that she was Sec of State for International Development and made an emphasis on trade I would bet they crossed paths when Andrew was in his trade role…

Iwantcakeeveryday · 26/08/2023 10:15

I agree @YetMoreNewBeginnings if it comes out this was some time ago, its an exchange between a Minister and the palace about security, being deliberately leaked now to save someone else. That would be concerning. Its concerning whenever it was leaked, but the motivation would be different.

Would also be interesting to know if she is trying to make another comeback - is the leak to save someone or hit Andrew or Patel? Or both of them.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 26/08/2023 10:23

Yes, another possibility isn't it. Hilarious if she thinks she can stage a comeback too.

I suspect this is where all their problems stem from. They are surrounded by sycophants, yes men and servants who have to do what they are told. They can't then take advice, even from people they have hired to advise them ( people who are then fired when the inevitable shit hits the fan) They insist on ridiculous rituals where they can tell grown adults what they can and cannot wear, insist they walk out of rooms backwards, make them stand up and sit down, stop eating, start eating, and have the press bully and berate people who do not do it . All Andrews problems stemmed from him not realising that he was the stupid fall guy for Epstein to protect his more powerful friends at one end, and at the other end not seeing very young girls being passed and paraded round his mates as equivalent human beings to his similarly aged daughters even though they were not Princesses. He more or less said in his interview that 'people in his circles" were used to people serving him and he didn't notice them at all. It seems they may as well have been a piece of furniture. They are the agents of their own problems.

It would be very interesting to know who leaked it. That would give a good clue as to who the leak was meant to damage most as it is a good way of damaging Patel without impacting anyone else that people give a shit about.

I think it will eventually but not available at the moment, without VPNs and procedures to show as US based. It will come over here eventually hopefully.

There are lots of 'teasers' out there, no names on who the friend and legal advisor was... I imagine it was Paul Tweed. The only thing is... over here it is said he 'resigned'... the teasers for the doc say he was sacked by Andrew & Sarah. So no idea.

So agree with your post @Angrycat2768

I read in a couple of different sources that Andrew was strongly advised to stay at the Consulate when he went to break up with Epstein. Four days staying with a convicted sex offender not a good look Hmm
I also read (no idea how true before I'm jumped on!) that he more or less said he will stay where he wants and the only person he is answerable to is Her Maj.

Yes, they bring this on themselves. Most of the time they can get away with it, but then the heat is turned up with something like JE and it all comes falling down.

Very possibly they all knew, but when the wheels fell off it suited them to make a pretence of distance?

And thanks for the link, Roussette - that was really interesting
