Kate and Williams children overexposed

It is sad to see the children appearing more and more at public events. Yesterday George and Charlotte appeared at wilmbledon and Charlotte gave a player an official coin. Today the children are all over the press.

A few days ago they appeared at the Royal international Air tattoo.
There has been criticism before on the board at the number of appearances thr children make in public. This was said to be temporary due to the death of Elizabeth and Charles as the new king, but it quite clearly is not true.

The children are being increasingly taken to events where William and Kate are working, to help boost the popularity of the Royal family. The children gain nothing from it. I am sure they would have enjoyed the air tattoo far more without a crowd of photographers taking lots of photos of the children.

It's sad to see the children used in this way. So much for giving them a normal childhood.

Let's face it, George probably isn't going to be king for another forty years or so so the idea of training is a bit ridiculous. However I don't think they are overexposed and seemed to be enjoying the tennis.

@SleepingStandingUp "you have no idea from a few photos and video clips anything about him, how academic he is, how he'll adjust to boarding school, how well he'll make friends etc."

I can look at him and think-"that is a sensitive, anxious child unsuited to the rigours of a traditional boy's boarding school" just as anyone else can say they think he's obviously loving every second of his life and is super confident and robust.

But he’ll be POW a good bit before that, so the training will come in handy!

You can think whatever foolish thing you like, but it’s despicable to write it publicly.

How would you like someone writing things like that online about your child?

BadNomad · 17/07/2023 18:06

It's less about training and more about conditioning.

Of all the children in the country to worry about, I'd say George and Charlotte would come bottom of the list. I imagine they're just fine leading their incredibly privileged lives with their clearly adoring parents.

@Inkanta - nobody is forcing you to look at her.

Oh yeah - you're right. Thanks for that.

Like I said, you would have looked at one of my boys and thought that. And you would have been very wrong. You absolutely can’t judge by a few photos and a bit of video. What about the pictures that have been posted on here of him cheering with his arms in the air? If you just saw those you would think he was a happy go lucky, enthusiastic child

Barbadossunset · 17/07/2023 18:14

CurlewKate where do you think George should go to school?

Do some people think Kate is working when she attends Wimbledon? She has a History of Art degree. I'd like to see her using that in her 'work'.

Well she's the Wimbledon president so I'd say that counts as work.

CurlewKate · 17/07/2023 18:15

@AliceOlive "How would you like someone writing things like that online about your child?"

What- that he was sensitive and anxious? I wouldn't mind at all. He was!

CurlewKate · 17/07/2023 18:17

@Barbadossunset "CurlewKate where do you think George should go to school?"

There are plenty of excellent, caring day schools.

You're probably right but:

  1. We don't know when George will become King. Tomorrow is promise to no man. Queen Elizabeth probably thought she would have a good 20 years before becoming Queen but her father tragically died in his 50s

  2. The number of working royals will keep declining. We all know that Charles' vision for a slimmed down monarchy was Himself, Camilla, William, Harry and their wives while the rest would carry small engagements from time to time. But now, Harry and Meghan are gone. The Duke of Kent, who's in his 90s, retired. Prince Philip retired in 2017 and died in 2021. Queen Elizabeth is gone and we all know what happened with Prince Andrew (losing him was still a big "loss". He was carrying out close to 400 engagements every year).

Now, if you look at the current working members, 7 out of 11 are over the age of 75. Princess Alexandra is getting close to 90 so I expect her to retire soon. The Gloucesters might follow in a few years. So, in basically 10 years, only Charles and Camilla (if they're still alive), W&K and Edward and Sophie will be working royals.

William and Kate only became full-time working royals in 2017 because those older royals were younger and could cover. I don't think George, Charlotte and Louis will get that luxury. Sadly for them, I think they'll be expected to become working royals a lot sooner than their father did.

Ohpleeeease · 17/07/2023 18:24

There are also excellent, caring boarding schools. Kate apparently loved her time at Marlborough.

tara66 · 17/07/2023 18:26

From the photos the children seem to enjoy these outings and are interested. If they were always left at home their parents would be criticised for that. They are promoting the idea of time spent as ''family together''. Maybe they hope if they live en famille a lot their children won't turn out like Charles. (I think Louis did not go yesterday as he would distract crowd to much with his antics).

mondaytosunday · 17/07/2023 18:27

Well it was a different time when Charles was a lad! Plus wasn't he at boarding school at that age? Comparisons to William and Harry might be slightly more relevant, and they seemed to have been out there just as much.
My kids would have been thrilled to be at such a fantastic event. They are lucky indeed!
I don't think they are being used or over exposed. But then I don't buy Hello or the Daily Mail or whatever else may write about them more frequently.

You’d be ok with strangers making judgements about your child and your family online based on a picture?

Most would not, it’s rude and beyond.

CurlewKate · 17/07/2023 18:40

@AliceOlive every time we comment on a picture of the royal family, we're making judgements! There is nothing negative at all about saying a child looks sensitive and anxious. People routinely say that the little one looks cheeky. Is that despicable too?

That’s an interesting way to look at it .

Its been a bad week for royal ‘commentators’

Launch ‘Operation distraction PR ‘

Yeah, I think grown women conjecturing online like that about children is sad. Describing a child as mentally frail isn’t on par with saying a child is being cheeky.

Yes, I also bet he was also really bored and anxious when he got to go to Wembley to watch England play in Euro 2020. I really hope he didn’t have to meet all the players afterwards, imagine how terrible that would have been for the poor little soul? Just awful really 😥

It would be almost as traumatising as that time when David Attenborough came around to visit and gave George his very own fossil to play with.

Those poor kids.

Or maybe because he is only 5
this is what I hate
”his antics “
he is a small child. Leave him alone
