No great surprise there... Would love to hear his story about Zooming Prince Harry, I can only imagine his frustration with the whining ninny!

The interviewer asked him a question and he answered. When she said it was insane she agreed and repeated the word. Shall they never ask probing questions about items reported elsewhere?

US weekly isn’t something I would ever touch, it’s always been garbage and gossip even when it was just a print magazine. Cotton candy for the mind.

But I saw you posted a link to it, then someone said they refused to click on it, then she posted the same link suddenly after seeing the video was not actually negative. It makes the head spin how quickly people change their minds based on whether something supports their own view or not.

why don't you discuss it on the relevant thread instead of bringing it here and referring to me as 'she'. I was told it was a hate site, no I do not want to watch horrible things and have lots of nasty hateful things in my mind. I don't get why people want to watch that kind of thing, let alone watch and read that kind of needless crap multiple times a day. I don't regularly read any tabloid either. Its just not the kind of thing I wish to knowingly consume. I watched the clip on someones twitter thread that I know doesn't and won't share negative nasty things as they have the same policy. I did not change my mind because it was positive, I wasn't the one who referred to it as hate in the first place. I don't know why the hell it makes your head spin that I choose to avoid things like that, its bizarre you seem to think we all should consume nasty videos and opinions and if we don't its somehow peculiar.

Just surprised that reputable publications would sink so low.

It couldn't possibly be that Meghan and Harry deserve criticism for any of their actions. Nope. Let's just write off any publication who print anything negative as haters and liars. Soon there won't be any left!

Not with 'people who know' which very much reads like 'sources' suddenly. That is now how these publications usually work.

So you wouldn't allow any story to run unless it had named sources?

Milcar · 23/06/2023 21:19

Many of the sources used in the Harry and meghan's series in Netflix to show how awful the UK media are were not UK media, or not clips from the UK madia showing Harry and Meghan...

Journalism doesn't need sources, and they definitely shouldn't be anonymous and protected lol

MamoruHisaishi · 24/06/2023 04:14

This Reminds me of Donald Trump and his battle against the press, coz according to him and his supporters, any negative news about him was fake and misleading.

Howsimplywonderful · 24/06/2023 07:37

@MarcelProust

Why don’t you google Watergate and the Washington Post.

Harry and Meghan do inspire some very trumpian thinking supporters all right @MamoruHisaishi

You know, that hadn't occurred to me. But now you mention it, it is from the same playbook, isn't it?

Oh so now you're making comparisons to Trump? I think theres a lot more similarities between anti-Meghan and Harry people and Trump and his supporters actually, for various reasons.

'People in the know' is me asking John next door for an opinion on a Spotify deal just because he once worked at accounts at his job.

Financial press doesn't normally work like this.

They may protect the source, but it will be clear that it's someone from a hedge fund/pwc/former Spotify(or insert podcast name)producer. It's usually someone with gravitas and would have worked within that field, it would be stated as such.
ie. "we asked a source who used to work for this agency and is still involved in signing these kind of deals" or "we asked a source from KPMG who has audited numerous podcast deals"

Was about to say this.

I thought the Trump comparisons had fallen flat, now it looks like they are back again. Trump supporters much be the biggest haters of Meghan, surely. She is the direct opposite of their 'values'. Trump himself has publicly talked bad about the Sussex's.

This is why I was quite surprised by the link of Harry to Putin and Trump. Since those two leaders are universally disliked and mocked, there seems to be a need to link them to the Sussex now.

MrsFinkelstein · 24/06/2023 09:29

Textbook examples of gaslighting here.

Interesting to discover that Bloomberg, The Economist, WSJ and The FT are now just trashy tabloids.

tigger2022 · 24/06/2023 09:29

Anonymous sources are pretty commonplace across the whole media, it’s people who would face consequences for speaking out if they used their names. We as the readers can’t check but that’s what editors are for. “Anonymous sources are made-up” is such a cop-out of a conspiracy.

I think this line of discussion is completely wrong on this forum. You're referring to posters here. We've already been told not to goad each other. If it continues you will get responses in kind and the thread could get pulled if it turns nasty. Which I think it has once you start making comparisons to people here and Trump supporters- the fucking irony of that.

Exactly. There's a big difference between nebulous unnamed gossip "sources", and those speaking out on condition of anonymity to credible journalists whose accounts back up named sources, documents and proven facts.

The fact is that the Bloomberg article's unnamed sources backup the previous statement from the named Spotify exec, and make sense in the broader frame that many celebs had significant amounts of cash thrown at them and struggled to come up with interesting and original content to justify the fee. Harry produced zero content and Meghan 12 episodes in nearly 3 years.

I don't think that's "hate", it just proves that it's a difficult business to be in, and it's not easy to do. Many people underestimated it.

sashagabadon · 24/06/2023 09:36

I think pp are saying the narcissist hubris playbook is similar between M&H and Trump. In their responses to media stories. Not that posters here have narcissistic hubris.
that how I read it

Yes that’s certainly what I meant!

TBF they're not beyond reproach eitther, but basically a "trashy tabloid" seems to have become any which say the slighest unwelcome thng about H&M

Ditto commentators; again some really are poisonous, but they too can go from respected to "haterz" in the blink of an eye - like Simmons, who was praised to the skies as a leading, insightful figure when they were signed up (and look at itt now Hmm)

Iwantcakeeveryday · 24/06/2023 09:40

Its not how I am reading it at all. the original claim was in response to posters here, nice try but I am not buying that BS. Its deliberate to anger the posters here who are largely very concerned with the sexism and racism directed at Meghan, two things Trump is known for. Deliberately linking posters and supporters to Trump and his, is designed to anger and offend the posters here and its very transparent.

tigger2022 · 24/06/2023 09:46

Sometimes Harry does remind me of Trump tbh… if all his press releases were typed with the caps lock on it’d be obvious lol… the BIASED FAKE NEWS MEDIA

Howsimplywonderful · 24/06/2023 09:48

Meghan lies, Trump lies, fans believe whatever they say anyway as they fight back against ‘the institution/the swamp’

Anything critical is ‘fake news’
journalists are bad,

🥱

BoohooWoohoo · 24/06/2023 09:55

The Sussexes and Trump are polar opposites in terms of politics but exactly on the same page with regards to the media. Anything critical is fake news and neither can see why the media won't just dance to their tunes and sing their praises.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 24/06/2023 09:55

keep going guys keep going... like I said, the irony of this particular boards Meghan haters making comparisons to Trump, truly wild.
