It's descending into farce now.

Can I make a joke or is it classed as hate?

So, was Harry given advice with his evidence by a paralegal in Suits?

mixedrecycling · 07/06/2023 11:45

I suspect a lot of contracts with clauses about confidentiality were breached, both without any ill intent (that secretary of Camilla's that gossiped about her meeting with William and Harry and had to resign), and to make money.

Proving it is the difficulty.

Vermin · 07/06/2023 11:56

If it is distressing at the time, distressing to go through with his legal team and also distressing to go through in court, is it only not distressing to go through these stories when one is being paid by Penguin Random House to do so?

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 11:57

“Harry says that many quotes are attributed to friends but he adds: “At this point myself and Chelsy were not sharing anything with anyone.”

Does he HONESTLY believe that Chelsy’s friends would not have gathered round her to support her at this time, and that she wouldn't have been talking to them?

At the ce try least they would have noticed she was upset and speculated about them, amount themselves, parents, easy for these things to get further than you think, one tu img said to someone, to eu then

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 11:58

Posted too soon - say something to someone, they mention it in passing to someone else, who shares it as interesting celeb gossip to others. Happens everyday!

ArcaneWireless · 07/06/2023 12:02

I have every sympathy when someone is subjected to their private business being put out there for all and sundry.

I’ve been the object of ridicule, gossip, investigation - although not in the press. That in itself was bad enough.

The saying ‘no smoke without fire’ is false.

The saying ‘shit sticks’ is alive and kicking and toots its little flute with alarming regularity years later.

But this is where I struggle.

PH subjected his own family, colleagues and dalliances to this intrusion without as much as a thought to how they may feel. Or if he did think, he didn’t care.

He may well have been upset, felt violated, been angry, had his mental health affected, distressed, etc.

I wonder how his family felt. I wonder how the woman he threw to the stallions felt?

No one should be expected to that level of intrusion.

Whether it be by the hand of PH or MGN.

This is where my sympathy wanes.

It is hypocritical.

Rino - you are right.

tigger2022 · 07/06/2023 12:05

It’s not that suspicious maintaining confidentiality by the way - settlements are negotiated agreements, so if the claimant has a strong case often the “defendant” if you can call them that will agree to avoid court by making an apology and payment of damages in exchange for the claimant agreeing not to publicly comment further on the matter

MayQueeen · 07/06/2023 12:06

@ArcaneWireless so sorry you went through that x
And thank you for bringing back the perspective, in the midst of it, it’s easy to forget he himself leaked so much private info on others.

especially felt sorry for the women he named as his first encounter.

ArcaneWireless · 07/06/2023 12:09

sorry

No one should be subjected to that level of intrusion.

My brain goes faster than my thumb sometimes.

There is that sense of both of them reminiscing about the best years of their single life (her as a paralegal in Suits - her only recognizable role) and him in his happy relationship with Chelsy. The British legal system has somehow become a theraputic outlet for keeping those sets of experiences alive. It does hint at a deep lack of fulfillment in what they can offer one another at home.

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 12:11

All his answers are just ‘well maybe this’ and ‘they might have that’ everything is ‘suspicious’ or ‘highly suspicious’ or a code word for something else. His thinking is very disordered - very black and white - anything that doesn’t lend itself to what he believes is disregarded and anything that can possible be attributed to his beliefs is stretched and distorted to do so. No challenges to
what he believes are allowed or even considered and explored.

It must be utterly miserable to have that level of untreated paranoia and it’s really quite disturbing seeing it so openly displayed. He must be very very difficult to live with.

EsmaCannonball · 07/06/2023 12:12

So, according to Harry, royals abusing their privileges or breaking the law aren't matters of public interest, but if one of them should, say, heroically receive a life-threatening injury while fighting in Afghanistan, that should be splashed all over the tabloids?

He's making the Prince Regent from Blackadder look like Bertrand Russell.

Confusedmumannoyedson · 07/06/2023 12:13

H comes over as a very damaged person. He also comes over as self entitled and wanting everything his own way. He also comes over as either a bit thick or he hasn't thought further than make claims and get money and apologies. Surely he realised some proof of what he claims is required?

ArcaneWireless · 07/06/2023 12:13

Just call him Regent Esma ….

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 12:14

He also seems to see threat EVERYWHERE. Someone taking a photo is a ‘security threat’.

Yet every single other royal manages to go about their business without incident, by and large. It’s very distorted thinking.

Confusedmumannoyedson · 07/06/2023 12:15

Cat1066 · 06/06/2023 19:19

It's absolutely ridiculous that he is critical of the press for writing about his life when he's doing the same about his friends and family.

This. He knows his family won't respond to it in public so he can say what he wants to (and does).

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 12:24

He’s getting pissy now…

“We're now hearing about a People article from September 2008, which suggested Prince Harry had been "banned" from returning to service in Afghanistan as it would present an "unacceptable risk" to him and other service members.

Harry says in his witness statement that it is another "obvious" example of MGN acquiring details about his "private life" - in this case his withdrawal from service - through unlawful means.

MGN lawyer Andrew Green KC says the matter of a senior royal serving on the front line was "a matter of legitimate public interest reflected in the press" and this was about his "professional" rather than "private" life.

"Are you suggesting that while I was in the army that everything was available for the press to write about?" Harry asks the lawyer.

"Can I just repeat this isn't about you asking me questions, it's about me asking you questions," says Mr Green.

These were my thoughts too.

Green seems to be demolishing Harry slowly and painfully

@Rinoachicken - Harry’s team need to reel him in. Fast.

His beloved drugs are dictating his motivations and his lamentable performance. He is a burden on the court system which is already overstretched. I wonder if he is regularly packed off to appear in a lawsuit for mutual respite.

ArcaneWireless · 07/06/2023 12:31

Harry says in his witness statement that it is another "obvious" example of MGN acquiring details about his "private life" - in this case his withdrawal from service - through unlawful means.

Because there is no chatter or gossip ever in the Forces. Obviously.

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 12:45

And details of his attendance and behaviour at a PUBLIC rugby match at Twickenham
couldn’t POSSIBLY have come from anywhere but phone hacking.

So the other few thousands people in the stadium are blind and deaf and don’t own phones and cameras then Harry?

clyspa · 07/06/2023 12:50

The bits about journalists phoning Chelsey - if they were hacking her/listening into her calls why did they want to call her about what they heard and them alert her?

Rinoachicken · 07/06/2023 12:52

MGN's lawyer Andrew Green KC moves to a 2009 People article which reported that Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy was in a new relationship and the royal had been "bombarding her" with calls in order to win her back.

The story features quotes from a "close pal" of Ms Davy's that he had begged her to "take him back".

In his witness statement, Harry says this type of story is "not flattering" for him.
Andrew Green KC asks the Duke in court whether he was aware that two of her friends were disclosing information to the media at the time.

"I highly doubt that," Harry replies.

Really Harry? I don’t doubt it at all. If my mates ex had treated her like shit, cheated on her etc, and then was continuing to harass her when she’d moved on, I probably wouldn’t give two shiny shits who I shared that info with. I’d think ‘serves him right, now everyone can know what a twat he is’.
