The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

Why did they turn up at a royal engagement that our taxes fund (travel, security, etc)?

These are legitimate questions.

Were they there as private citizens or did we pay for them in any shape, way or form?
We as tax payers have a right to know.
Frankly, the Middletons, Kate and William should have been willingly transparent at the time.
I would hate to think the Middletons were taking advantage of their royal connections.

Interesting

Why Was Pippa Middleton at the Jordanian Royal Wedding?

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Kate Middleton's mom and sister at the wedding of Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif.

Why was polka's post deleted? It broke no talk guidelines?

Also, as tax payers, we have a right to know if the Middletons were personally invited by the Jordanians and if they paid for their own travel and expenses.

If they gatecrashed a Royal wedding that is awesome!

Kudos! They were even in the pictures!

@jeffgoldblum I'll message you.

@polkadotdalmation 👍

My goodness, Catherine's pink dress at that wedding was just fabulous. She looked gorgeous. I often don't like her 1950s middle aged outfits, but this was stunning. Beatrice looked lovely too. It was nice to see other royal families all turning up. The middletons lived in Jordan at one point so we're quite at home there and in the crowd. Pippa was there too. Do like a bit of tiara wearing 😀

Her dress was nice @polkadotdalmation , even a clothes hater like me thought it nice! 🤣 , yes apparently they lived there when Michaels work took them, I imagine it was nice for them to return.

Maireas · 12/08/2023 18:17

Some great outfits at that Jordanian wedding. Plenty of bling, natch.

Moving on...

Ohpleeeease · 12/08/2023 19:01

Pippa is the image of Michael Middleton. They really are a very nice looking family. It doesn’t always work that way, but they seem to have hit the gene jackpot, not a dud among them.

IcedPurple · 12/08/2023 19:09

They are happy to go flying across the world to a royal wedding with Kate (royal engagement), not caring if their actions will be seen insensitive to those who are actually struggling due to money owed to them by the Middletons.

But do "those who are actually struggling due to money owed to them by the Middletons" find their actions 'insensitive'? Or you are getting preemptively outraged on their behalf?

Also, as tax payers, we have a right to know if the Middletons were personally invited by the Jordanians and if they paid for their own travel and expenses.

Given that this was the wedding of the crown prince, I imagine security was extremely tight and all details, very much including the guest list, were finalised well in advance. I would expect that it would be exceedingly difficult to crash such an event unless you were indeed "personally invited" by the hosts, as you appear to be suggesting.

And if the Middletons did somehow manage to rock up uninvited at the wedding of a foreign crown prince, how is that the concern of the British taxpayer?

I think Pippa is more like Carole, while Kate is more like Michael.

Louis is his miniature.

Now that I agree with. It will be so interesting to see how the three of them change as they grow up. When I look at Sarah Chatto I see her father first and foremost, but when she smiles she’s so like her mother.

Nono22972 · 12/08/2023 21:30

About the Jordanian wedding, I don't know why the Middletons were invited but Pippa and her husband, James were there as well and he owns a private jet. I would assume they traveled in that jet while Edoardo and Beatrice came with W&K

Nono22972 · 12/08/2023 21:35

Let's face it Harry and Meghan opened the Pandora's box of scrutinising everything to do with the royal family on a personal level.

Exactly! Their supporters will find everything worth criticising about the RF and will make it trend on social media as a way to vindicate the Sussexes. This story was already being shared and getting thousands of likes on Twitter and TikTok hours before I shared the article on this thread

I thought it was against the rules, if not the spirit, of mumsnet for a group of posters to talk off thread in the DMs.

I've messaged MN re this. They've not taken any action so I don't think it's an issue.
