King Charles ill?

Was it just me that thought Charles looked really unwell at the coronation. His face was v red throughout the service (that could have been my TV, but...) His hands were enormous! They looked like the kind of hands I've seen in people with quite late on heart failure.

Anyone else think he really didn't look well? Hope he's ok ..

his hands have been like that for years, a quick google will show you plenty of explanations mostly arthritis, lighting in abbey is artificial also tv camera lights alter complexions he was probably stressed about the event

He's looked like that for ages. I'm sure that he has regular health checks from a leading doctor and any medication he needs to manage his health. He's 74 - it's by no means unusual to have acquired a few conditions by that age.

Oh give over. The same as the Queen could be diagnosed from her hands too. He has fat fingers.

He looked very well at the Concert , happy and healthy not so much poor Camilla who looked completely knackered.

Yes, just you. He looked absolutely fine. Just nervous, which anyone would have been.

There suddenly seem to be an awful lot of people reading stuff that isn't there into every tiny and usually irrelevant detail.

He was clearly emotional, but he looks healthy to me. His fingers have been swollen for years.

He does have very swollen fingers, but I thought his face looked less red than usual. I am not a doctor, but we did comment on them. They didn't look arthritic to me, because that kind of swelling is usually bumpy and misshapen, but more fluid-retention sort of swelling. I haven't noticed them before but then I don't usually pay much attention to Charles.

He looked tired but in the photos the day before,and the day after, he looked fine. So I think he'd had a sleepless night worrying about what could go wrong because it was clear that that ceremony meant an awful lot to him, particularly because he's spiritual. It's clear that he takes being king very seriously and he wants to do his best for everybody.

He did look stressed and tired at the coronation, I think that was from a sleepless night and a huge huge occasion. He probably had no sleep thinking what if the crown fell off, or he tripped up on his robe, or the same happened to Camilla, who looked pretty similar. With 100 million (?) people around the world watching, i'd be shitting myself.

Looked so much more relaxed when it was over.

I thought he looked very solemn, indeed rather sad, at the Coronation, plus really quite tired.

I think his face has changed a bit recently - almost certainly just anno domini though.

Camilla often looks tired and strained at big formal occasions.

i have noticed that king charles seems to have a pale powder or make up on in the photos which tones down his florid complexion. this has happened at the coronation and afterwards.

@mayorofcasterbridge He is actually frail for chemotherapy. He might look ok but for chemotherapy he'd be borderline fit.

Yes I think so too .. and Edward and Fergie. I reckon they're all burnt out. I think it's the press/social media as much as anything that stresses them out. I don't believe it's a glamorous lifestyle at all. Maybe it was in the 1950s.

He'd just lost his mum and then had to have the biggest day of his life in full view of the world! He has arthritis in his hands iirc.

I did think he looked like he'd lost a lot of weight leaving the hospital the other day which is also hardly surprising.

Apparently Harrry is due to fly back to LA. All very peculiar and looks like he’s well and truly ostracised..
