Megan pregnant with third?

Recent photos, she's walking with friends and she's so slim but definitely looks just like my sister did when she was about 6/7months pregnant - she's wearing black but I'm sure I can see a bump that isn't her usual figure!

Might just be the angle but it would explain why she didn't attend the Coronation and why Harry flew back so quickly. I appreciate he had Archie's birthday too but it would be another reason.

OK they live in Montecito not LA, potato potarto, it’s still a hugely wealthy community Katy and we have to pretend two toddlers who live here with unimaginable wealth and privilege are oppressed because their ancestor were slaves? It’s just insulting to human intelligence TBH.

Maireas · 13/05/2023 10:37

They're direct descendants of George III living in the USA, which I find an interesting quirk of history!

I have re read what Mrs Max wrote - at no point did she say that these children are oppressed but that the connection to their ancestors and their current role is worthy of academic study.

Just an fyi however wealthy people of colour still experience discrimination- I have spoken about incidents involving Oprah Winfrey (billionaire) and Serena Williams and won’t repeat them but coming from immense wealth and privilege does not completely shield people from racism, sexism, classism or any other form of bigotry.

YouWonJayne · 13/05/2023 10:17

Also no one is upset about the academic papers. No one. No one is denying there has been racism towards MM. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s strange a WOC who so passionately against white oppression would marry into the most oppressively white family in the world.

My post was in response to someone expressing doubt that academics would be interested in Meghan.

As to the second part of your post, Meghan met a man she fell in love with and married him. I do not recall her ever saying that she had married into the most institutionally oppressive white family in the world, though of course I am sure you can point to where she said that. As far as I know, she has expressed concerns about racism she experienced in the press and on social media. She also said on Oprah that a member of the family had expressed concerns about how dark Archie's skin might be. If the papers are to be believed, this person's name has been conveyed in her correspondence with Charles.

I therefore don't remember her saying she had married into the most institutionally oppressive white family in the world.

That Harry and Meghan fell in love is actually a good story to those who know the history of the Royal Family. It's a pity you seem unwilling to see what a lovely thing it was, cutting through the history of slaver and colonialism, making many in the Commonwealth feel excited especially as, just years ago, black people were not allowed beyond the kitchens of the royal households and to this day, the households are exempt from racial equality legislation.

One of the positive effects of the whole racism debacle is that the households are being forced to confront questions of diversity all of which, I hope you agree, can only be a good thing.

Oh wow. I had not thought of that thank you! Amusing then that they are called Prince and Princess in the US :)

You don't have to pretend any such thing, in part because I said no such thing. Perhaps if you calmed the fuck down, lowered your indignation and read more slowly, then drew a breath before answering, you might find that I have nowhere written that these kids are oppressed?

Thanks.

That’s so true. I’d not thought of that.

polkadotdalmation · 13/05/2023 11:11

Apparently the rumour was printed in a magazine called In Touch.

skullbabe · 13/05/2023 11:28

@MrsMaxDeWinter I sometimes wonder if some people don’t read for understanding because I’m really at a loss as to the responses to you about academic studies.

Morestrangerthings · 13/05/2023 11:28

Thanks MrsMaxDeWinter for providing links to the request for academic links.

I’m pretty surprised that there are posters who are surprised that there are academic studies and academic papers written in regard to Meghan Markle and the ‘Meghan effect’. The reach across different disciplines is huge.

When I saw the request for links after I posted about academic studies re Meghan, I thought damn it - now I’m going to have to search out some links because otherwise some people will think I’m bullshiting. I’m too lazy to keep links.

For those lazy like me: I just type in obvious search words and a few names of big universities. And read whatever journal essay/study looks most interesting, (and not too dense), to me at the time. Not that I want to make out I do it a lot, because I don’t. I’m far too lazy to challenge myself regularly.

@skullbabe

One of my favourite royal engagements was when Harry and Meghan went to see Hamilton in London and Harry sang the first two words of You'll be back ... but sadly stopped.

Here's a nice video ...

Prince Harry teases "Hamilton" audience in London with a song

Prince Harry delighted the London cast of hit musical Hamilton and its creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on August 29 when he sang the first note of King George III...

lovely and funny to watch the king George song from Hamilton.

And Harry is such a natural speaker. I know they would have had public speaking training and lots of practice. Still there’s no denying he’s very good at it ( Until some Harry Disliker sees this as a challenge, and denies it lol).

Meghan, Harry and Charles are the most natural speakers in the family. With Harry it's his pure charm and sincerity. He also has the gift of bringing his audience into his speeches.

Charles is an intelligent man who speaks about what matters to him and as a consequence sounds warm, considered and natural. He also has a beautiful speaking voice, with a rich timbre. His recent speech in Germany was an absolute masterclass.

Meghan has a lovely voice, sparkling confidence and an excellent memory trained over years of acting, and is the only one who can speak completely without notes. Her Smartworks speech is a delight.

Another project was conservation work in Africa as he had expressed a desire to live there. I think that also would have been very good. I think instinctively he's quite a good communicator and had some of his late mother's charm.

Yes he was a good communicator and full of charm. Its such a waste it really is that he's now focused on revenge and Netflix deals.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 13/05/2023 12:54

Its such a waste it really is that he's now focused on revenge and Netflix deals.

He seems to still be focused on some of the work he started in the royal family, such as Invictus, African Parks and Sentebale. He's added two African teams of wounded servicemen to the Invictus family, for the first time, but you probably won't agree that's a good thing because he should have prioritised coal miners or something.

Morestrangerthings · 13/05/2023 13:00

I don’t know Janiie, he’s still doing charity stuff isn’t he? For example invictus and and the African based charity (I’ve forgotten the name sorry, begins with ‘s’ I think. I’ve got brain fog badly tonight) also, he’s got to have a lot on with his court cases. #Go Harry and the others. I hope they expose it all. And make those tabloid barons pay and publicly apologise. And also hopefully motivate some changes in media laws/ownership. God, the court cases alone would be daunting. And he is a dad to two small kids. I don’t think Netflix is his only focus.

Morestrangerthings · 13/05/2023 13:01

Ah Sentabale, that’s it!

MrsMaxDeWinter · 13/05/2023 13:19

Indeed @Morestrangerthings

He is involved in 4 current cases against the intrusive and illegal practices of the tabloid press.

He works for BetterUp, Travalyst and is part of the Aspen Institute.

Every time he plays polo with Los Padres, its to raise money for Sentebale.

He is also the president of African Parks.

He is the patron of WellChild as well.

Not to mention Invictus whose next games are this summer in Dusseldorf.

But it suits some to think that all he does is for "revenge and Netflix"!

And thanks for the links, I will read with interest.

Morestrangerthings · 13/05/2023 13:32

Yes, MrsMaxDeWinter he’s got a pretty full life. I admire the energy of both Harry and Meghan.

And I agree. Charles, Harry snd Meghan are the best public speakers in the family.

ArcaneWireless · 13/05/2023 13:32

He still does a lot for the charities he is involved with. No doubt about it.

I do think that the good he does do though gets lost amongst the maelstrom of the Netflix and book or interview revelations.

I think if that were put to bed he would be an unstoppable ambassador for his charities. To carry on in that vein may lose him some support. And that would be a shame.

Roussette · 13/05/2023 13:36

Indeed, I imagine he is very busy MrsMax

The current court case is only a few days in and expected to last 7 weeks. I imagine there is a lot going on with that. At some point he will probably have to appear in court.

This article is a few months old but it lists all their charity initiatives over a year, and there's a lot!

I think you mean to say the good he does gets lost in the maelstrom of the negative and constant sniping about Netflix, his book and his interview from the Sun, the Daily Mail, the Express and the Mirror, who, by coincidence happen to be some of the tabloids he is suing!

The Daily Mail quite embarrassingly got two writers to do a hit piece on his ghost-writer, in which one of their criticisms was that his New Yorker essay, published in a magazine famous for long form essays was too long. In that essay JR reveals that the Mail on Sunday had actually sent a journalist to stalk his house, and found her peering through his windows.
