Megan pregnant with third?

Recent photos, she's walking with friends and she's so slim but definitely looks just like my sister did when she was about 6/7months pregnant - she's wearing black but I'm sure I can see a bump that isn't her usual figure!

Might just be the angle but it would explain why she didn't attend the Coronation and why Harry flew back so quickly. I appreciate he had Archie's birthday too but it would be another reason.

*imaginary popularity contest.

queenofarles · 09/05/2023 19:08

It’s not the fact that she made the cake. It’s that she let someone tell the media about it to make herself look a certain way to the public
I agree it’s a bit twee sounding , but I guess this is her style, I see no change with the new agency , she wants to contrive an image of a laidback domestic bliss ,some will find it lovely others won’t,

the oddball part is that she is aiming to get the attention during a time when the attention should be on her FIL

It is a sad state of affairs when a woman on a hike can draw attention away from a 250 million plus event with gold carriages, gowns and gloves and assorted world leaders. I’m sure if she’s really wanted to draw attention she could have splashed about in a bikini in the sea with Archie and Lili.

I don’t think she did. But I do think it was the goal.

Roussette · 09/05/2023 19:29

A woman goes on a hike, wears a watch and makes a cake. Yet is accused of trying to sabotage a ritual that has been going for 1,000 years in a country 6,000 miles away.

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so ridiculous!

Who said she was trying to sabotage it?
Or it that more hyperbole?

Roussette · 09/05/2023 19:56

I've read the thread, that's why.

Whaeanui · 09/05/2023 20:29

Ah… have you actually read the thread??

AliceOlive · 09/05/2023 21:10

I believe MM is releasing photos and info at moments strategically calculated to get the maximum coverage in an attempt to build her profile and improve her image

I doubt either of them would want to destroy the monarchy. They don't have any global relevance at this point without it.

She has to control her image. As this thread shows, there appears to be an insatiable demand to discuss her / read about her, whether it’s negative or positive. If she doesn’t control her image, then unfavourable photos and stories will enter the media- which may be no closer to the truth.

Don’t the royal family tightly control their image? They give controlled photo opportunities to the press so they stop invading their privacy at other points?

What I think is far more interesting to consider is - why do some people enjoy criticising her so much, and what does that say about our society that they need a scapegoat like her?

Just to remind you of what sealioning is - it is a term used to describe a type of behaviour that involves repeatedly asking for evidence or proof to support a statement, claim, or argument in a disingenuous and bad-faith manner. It is not comments nor retorts.

Roussette · 09/05/2023 21:37

Or actually just having a different opinion.

I don't agree that she has to do this at all. They need to do it because they are choosing to stay in the public eye. That's their right, of course, but then with that choice will come some criticism. It's part and parcel of the deal. Particularly when people perceive that they are not actually being "authentic" while talking about being authentic. And riding on the coattails of people they openly criticized and shared private info about. So many people don't like that sort of thing and they have made a number of gaffes. So yes, if they want to remain in the public domain, they "need" to do this and also some damage control.

I don't think the demand is really that insatiable these days, either. If it was, they wouldn't need to pair up the orchestrated exposure with the coronation, or any other RF event.

PS: What kind of reactions do you think someone would get if they posted on MN that they baked a cake using lemons from their own garden? Do you think the responses would be all positive?

The DM and other papers don’t need to publish these photos - they choose to do this due to demand from people to read about her. The editors wouldn’t waste column inches on her if there wasn’t an insatiable need by some to read about her.

She’s not riding on anyone coattails. She was clearly famous prior to marrying into the RF. There is more to her than being a wife of Harry!

Harry is the one who’s done most of the sharing as far as I’m aware? Why can’t someone present their own side of the story anyway?

I wouldn’t know what is authentic about any celebrity as I clearly don’t know them. All celebrities - including the RF- control their image, and it’s always interesting to see they mask slip (thinking about KC and the pen incident).

If some said they baked a cake using lemons from
their garden, I would wish I lived in a warm enough climate to grow lemons! I bought a lemon try from Aldi and the lemons didn’t ripen - even indoors. I wouldn’t see it as a reason to criticise them.

Depends on where they post - if they posted on AIBU - it would be a free for all - comments ranging from whoop dee woo to cheerful encouragement. Elsewhere - it would be mostly positive. We are mostly encouraging of others who share their accomplishments.

Whaeanui · 09/05/2023 22:43

I can’t believe sharing you baked a lemon cake is any kind of thing. Why are people so grouchy! Lots of people bake and like to talk about it.

Sudeko · 09/05/2023 14:43

So you are claiming to wear a Cartier watch all day every day out in London? 🤔

My day to day watch is a Rado. I wear it everywhere, Asda, work and even shifting broken furniture into the car and then the tip at the weekend.

It's a watch for telling the time as I live my life, not building a shrine to marvel at how much it cost and how great it looks in the box.

queentim · 10/05/2023 00:56

smilesy · 09/05/2023 11:30

I didn’t say I’d spotted it. Or that she shouldn’t do it. Just that I wouldn’t. It’s a bit different to wear your own personal jewellery for a run or hike rather than risk an irreplaceable heirloom 🤷‍♀️

But how do you know that it's a priceless heirloom, rather than a watch she bought herself?

Because the Daily Mail told you so?

Since that’s your take away from what I wrote, there is no point in me trying to explain.

Good for her!
On this thread though it is all about bad Meghan trying to upstage the Coronation blah blah blah

Awful woman baking a cake, what was she thinking!

tigger2022 · 10/05/2023 07:08

Nobody is saying she’s trying to sabotage, she doesn’t have the power to do that. She’s doing PR. “Remember me? I’m over here.” We don’t have to pretend it’s not PR.

Whaeanui · 10/05/2023 07:09

People have said that actually! Read the thread!

Maireas · 10/05/2023 07:40

There was an unpleasant post last week where someone said they'd have a drinking game and take a drink every time Meghan was mentioned during the Coronation. Well, I suggested that their liver was safe. I watched the coronation - all Huw Edwards said when noting Harry had arrived was that Meghan had stayed at home. I think there was some wishful thinking on here that she'd be the spectre at the feast. She wasn't.
