I know I'll probably get roasted but King Charles is now a billionaire but he has the most awful gruesome teeth. I cant even bear to look at them. With all that money I'd get my teeth straightened and some subtle veneers. When you are a public figure like that the least you can do is have nice teeth.
I'm not rich by any means but I had mine straightened and si did my DS as I take care of them even if it means not ha
Ving a holiday or or new clothes or anything.
He isn't on benefits he is the king. Sort it out Charles.

Veneers are ghastly.

It used to be that people got veneers to cover up particular things - like the tetracycline staining that many people have suffered from before they realized that drug was a problem and stopped giving it to pregnant women and small children.
My aunty also had some kind of staining on her front teeth and had beautiful veneers fitted which were a natural colour and natural looking.
Now we've been bombarded with these Hollywood smiles and suddenly lots of people are having bright white veneers or crowns fitted onto perfectly health teeth which looked nice enough beforehand.
If the veneers/crowns are too white and too big and too straight they look awful - but the more people we see with them, the more people think their own teeth aren't nice enough.

Mrsjayy · 07/05/2023 13:30

This is true

Mrsjayy · 07/05/2023 13:31

Oops sorry. I was saying veneers were to cover up a damaged/stained tooth now we have people thinking veneers are normal .

LadyWithLapdog · 07/05/2023 13:33

Also true of lips, boobs, wrinkles etc. A certain look becomes normalised, and you see the grotesque becoming commonplace.

Morestrangerthings · 07/05/2023 13:52

Yet dentists don’t warn people of these this. You must have an honest dentist@Inkpotlover

Morestrangerthings · 07/05/2023 13:53

Things not this

My husband is probably the only one of our generation who has lovely natural teeth. They’re straight and white.

Everyone else in our circle of friends and family aged 40s and 50s has teeth that are crooked or yellow or both. I’d include myself in that but I’ve had my 2 front teeth veneered (as I had an abscess that rendered them grey) and the rest whitened (plus straightened when I was a teen).

So veneers aren’t always ‘ghastly’ - mine are fabulous. People often say ‘you’re lucky to have nice teeth’ to me. I hate the ‘turkey teeth’ look beloved by Towie types but that is not the norm now any more than yellow wonky teeth are.

Our children’s generation all have lovely teeth because dentistry has moved on so much. Nowadays the norm is to have straight, white teeth with no fillings. Life is too short to have teeth you’re ashamed of.

I'm sure yours are beautiful! I think if there's no hope of restoring the teeth by other means then fair enough. I meant I find the process of veneers ghastly. I don't think Charles' slightly stained teeth need filed down and I know people with better teeth than Charles who have considered veneers! It's a horrible thing to do to healthy teeth

MyopicBunny · 07/05/2023 19:10

I'm in my early 40s and when I was a kid, nearly everyone had braces and could get such work done on the NHS. So my teeth are perfectly straight.

Veneers are ghastly.

Do you think Cheryl Tweedy's are 'ghastly'? I think hers made her one of the world's most stunning women. Before that, she had 'snaggle teeth'

Well you must be fortunate where you live because where I live the only way dentists will see kids on the NHS is if parents are on Denplan or paying privately as they go. Lots of kids never get to see a dentist.

My late father had teeth like this (lower set very similar to Charles')) and my sister inherited a similar set up.

Due to public attacks like this and general self confidence my sister is now having Invisiline or whatever it is called in her 50s. She is a ridiculously successful career woman but this teeth obsession causes such damage.

I don't want her doing this because she is and has always been lovely. Her husband is supporting her (as am I) because it's something she feels that she has to do but privately I am sad because she is getting rid of a part of Dad that never affected his health or happiness in his +90 years of life.

Sinamin · 08/05/2023 18:49

Oh and I've reported this thread because the OP is just nasty.

Try finding a dentist that will treat you for free, even if you have a new chin due to an abscess and cannot afford private treatment.

That's the reality now and wouldn't all of the naysayers be lining up to demand crucifixion for him if King Charles had dared to get his teeth fixed!

Grow up the lot of you that need to whine about teeth. Shallow much?

That’s a bit of a stretch. You disapprove of your sister straightening her crooked teeth because she inherited them from your dad?

Why shouldn’t she happily correct something she probably feels unhappy with? Just because your dad didn’t worry about his teeth, it doesn’t mean your sister is obliged to follow in his footsteps like some sort of tribute 😂

One of my closest friends inherited her own dad’s massive hooked nose. She hated it and when she was 30, she had a nose job. I think she’d say it’s the best thing she ever did.

Lollygaggle · 09/05/2023 09:02

Dentist here,
Good looking set of natural teeth which should see him through many years yet.
Perfectly white, straight teeth are not normal and many of the things done to achieve that look IE veneers or crowns destroy teeth and shorten lifespan of teeth.
Whitening and braces are fine but are not necessary for health, just aesthetics.

JamSandle · 13/05/2023 23:06

Veneers are mostly awful though. Look like giant pieces of chewing gum.

I thought the same 😂

Spectre8 · 14/05/2023 12:01

Why would you purposefully destroy your natural teeth if they are cuasing an issue only for vanity purpose or cos other ppl like OP think it looks horrible.

Caught up in the fake veneers and fake whitening people are forgetting what natural normal teeth are like.

Utterly ridiculous to be sitting on people who just want to keep things as natural as possible.

LadyWithLapdog · 14/05/2023 17:56

@Spectre8 does teeth whitening also affect the structure of the tooth?

No bit its warpring peoples perception on what is normal.

LadyWithLapdog · 14/05/2023 21:48

I agree.

knobheeeed · 14/05/2023 21:50

I thought you had to be careful with tooth whitening as it can damage enamel. ie. get it done professionally by a dentist and stay away from home bleaching kits

Viviennemary · 15/05/2023 12:10

I"venever noticed his teeth sl they cant be that bad. I hate that fake white tombstone look.
