The lack of enthusiasm for the Coronation

I know this is shallow but I think part of the reason why people aren't enthusiastic about Charles’ coronation is that neither he nor Camilla have movie star good looks plus they're both in their 70s. I bet if both were in their 30s or even 40s, and Charles looked like Pierce Brosnan and Camilla looked like Angelina Jolie, they would have the world fawning over them and their Coronation.

It is thinly populated for what has been billed as a once in a lifetime opportunity. And probably half the crowds are foreign tourists poncing off our taxes who would have been here anyway to see We Will Rock You and don't look a freebie gift hose in their gilded mouth.

Not compared to the Queen’s funeral for example. This is the big event and we’re supposed to whipped up into kingly excitement about it. Very poor turn-out comparatively.

It’s Reds v Tahs so sadly I can’t watch the coronation I thought was happening Monday 😂 but I’m always interested when protestors are mistreated and have their right to protest removed

I caught a glimpse @Roussette because I got the day wrong and it looks so ridiculous in this day and age, it’s like something out of Cinderella that carriage 😂 but I don’t normally rain on someone’s parade if people are celebrating on threads… however as this is a different take and mistreatment of protestors has occurred I had to drop by!

How much inheritance tax has he avoided @Blossomtoes? How many operations have been cancelled through lack of funds while we’re splashing out millions on this arcane spectacle? It’s sickening. They will have prompted thousands more to sign up for Republic today.

I daren't look at the other threads they scare me at how the world is manipulated by those in power to maintain that power. It was always thus of course, and we live in hope. For hope springs eternal from the bosom of truth. Poor old Rishi as a Hindu having to read a Christian Bible verse for a Protestant King.

We have no real idea if they make more for the economy than they take, I’ve never seen a convincing evidence for it. But crucially we don’t know if the country would make the same without them. So the facts are, they cost us, we don’t vote them in, some people think it’s wrong in a democracy.

My comment is that they would most probably have been here anyway as London and the UK has a huge amount to offer for tourists (albeit bad weather and expensive) but as they are here will take advantage of this undoubted spectacle. I would in their place as well. One of the most popular tourist attractions is Stonehenge which is nothing to do with the monarchy.

Probably less than the Duke of Westminster who’s the richest man in Britain and hasn’t paid a penny.
