Pardon the Apple News link !
I saw this earlier and I might be a big romantic but it really touched me ! 🥹
It was very a very heartfelt and unneeded comment and for me shows that he's still wild about her after all this time they have been together.

Royal wedding dresses I liked and thought suited the brides best were Sarah Chatto, eugenie, meaghan & Beatrice.

I would have considered Kate to be very pretty when younger. She despite being a great shape , carried weight ( like many) on her face. The weight loss on her face, while showing off her bone structure makes her look older. She looks always is very attractive when she smiles.
The money and time spent on grooming helps of course but I would have thought pippa to be more of an example of this, that her sister.

I’m prepared to be flamed but I didn’t like Beatrice’s wedding dress.

I know it had huge sentimental value but she looked like what she actually was - a young woman dressing up in granny’s clothes.

She also had the huge misfortune of getting married shortly after it turns out her dad was revealed as a sexual predator and causing huge stirs. I feel like she was used as a prop in lockdown to avoid a public wedding where he walked her down the aisle. “Your dad has fucked up. Big style. Thankfully it’s lockdown and you can’t have a fancy wedding like your sister anyway. So have it now, on the quiet, and stick granny’s wedding dress on to distract from your fuck up father”

I didn't like Beatrice's dress either despite the fact it was remodelled beautifully. It just looked a bit dated to me. If it had been a wedding in a wood for a meadow with bare feet, I might have felt different.

MusicstillonMTV · 22/04/2023 18:14

I thought Beatrice looked fab on her wedding day but I didn't like the dress itself that much, if that makes sense

Maireas · 22/04/2023 18:16

I didn't like Beatrice's, and - going against the grain - I didn't like Eugenie's either, or the horror that was her evening dress.

It did seem like that.

That Spencer tiara 😍! It looked like it was on fire! Her hair was flat, and the only time really that it didn't look good.

I agree about her hair, I was so surprised as she had good hair.

I know Diana’s dress isn’t popular but I do love this image of it. Didn’t ‘Meringue’ dresses have a bit of a revival fairly recently? Kim Sears springs to mind.

That is a good photo, not really like how it looked on the day though.

My favourite wedding dresses are both Eugenie and Beatrice, and Meghan’s evening dress which I preferred to her day dress, I was disappointed with Kate’s it just wasn’t wow in my opinion, I’ve seen her look better in a Jenny Packham evening gowns.

I know, it’s that particular image that captured fairytale Princess perfectly even if you hated the dress.

Kvetching · 22/04/2023 19:24

I don’t care if it was once granny’s, Beatrice’s dress was hideous imo.

Kvetching · 22/04/2023 19:26

Sarah Chatto’s dress was absolutely stunning. She’s as plain as the day is long but looked utterly gorgeous.

PrettyMaybug · 22/04/2023 19:27

Awww, that's nice of him. Smile They are such a lovely couple, and their kids are adorable! Kate is truly stunning. Will make a perfect Queen. 👸

Wellfedandfedup · 22/04/2023 19:46

On weddings.
Meghan looked really good overall- glowy and very pretty but I thought her dress was a tad boring. It will age well though.

Kate looked beautiful but her makeup was too heavy. I did like her dress a lot but she could have done with her hair up to show off the dress more.
Queen Elizabeth was pretty and her dress was lovely. She had the most handsome groom too 😍

Her dress was gorgeous. I don't agree that she's plain. Quite pretty in a delicate way.

Roussette · 22/04/2023 19:51

I just looked up Sarah Chatto's dress, because I can't remember, it's beautiful. As is the bridesmaids, similar dresses

Wellfedandfedup · 22/04/2023 19:54

I just remembered that Lady Gabriella's dress was utterly beautiful. She was a knockout on her wedding day.

DuchessOfSausage · 22/04/2023 19:54

@Wellfedandfedup , you obviously haven't read the full thread -Princesses Di and Kate are plain too. Smile

Lady Sarah always manages to dress beautifully

MysteryBelle · 23/04/2023 03:30

My two favorite royal wedding dresses. Both timeless and very fairytale princess, and perfectly tailored to fit.

What a beautiful image. Princess Diana, so beautiful, and talented. Played piano, could dance, very articulate even from the tender age of 19, in interviews.

polkadotdalmation · 23/04/2023 10:23

I love all the wedding dresses, and think eugenie looked stunning in the vintage gown. Meghans dress was too plain and did nothing for her figure, but her evening dress was stunning. Diana's dress was of it's time and for that time was beautiful although no one would go the meringue route today.

This reads like something from Pride and Prejudice.... she was so accomplished. 😅

Are you thinking of someone else? With the best will in the world, Diana was a confused, not-very-bright Sloane from a dysfunctional background whose expensive education netted her nothing but a single O-level and a series of low-paying jobs as a cleaner and childminder before being picked out as suitable royal virgin bride, and whose timidity and inexperience are what shine out (understandably enough, given her youth and naivety( from her early interviews,

I mean, you would need a heart of stone not to pity her subsequent life in many ways, but people identified with her not because she was in any way 'talented', but rather the reverse.
