What are they going to do with Andrew at the coronation? Will they make him wear a suit and stand out the way at the back or something? If Harry goes I imagine he'll wear a suit, seems a bit cruel to lump them together in some sort of outcast corner.

I hope Harry skips it entirely. I imagine he'll be treated worse than the accused child rapist just as he was at the Queen's funeral.

How was he treated badly at the funeral?

Andrew is beyond desperate to take a leading role in this I bet. Look at him escorting the Queen in at PP's memorial. He is trying again and again to wheedle his way back in.

The latest is ... he has offered to look after Balmoral's books (don't do it Charles!) and the property... to be the Estate Manager. He'll do anything to get back in.

I actually think Charles really dislikes his brother and I can't see his stance changing.

I am waiting for the live footage of the bailiffs trying to evict him from Royal Lodge. He has refused so far I believe. And poor Sarah the ex wife of 27 years is 'heartbroken'.

Can you link to you sources please for each of these claims.

I imagine all the royal Dukes with the exception of William will be in suits.

He and Harry aren’t the only royal dukes who won’t be included. The Dukes of Gloucester and Kent are also being “sidelined”.

And part of the issue (although Harry and Andrew are obviously the main focus) is likely that there’s not a chance in hell the Duke of Kent is fit enough to wear the robe, walk in procession and kneel as he normally would (and did at the Queen’s coronation).

704703hey · 08/03/2023 09:43

Charles seems to be close to Anne. No idea about Edward. I was involved with his company Ardent Productions and he was quite funny. Never asked him about RF, I was only interested in the TV series he was doing. It didn't cross my mind.

Andrew: he's had a huge loss with his parents. The UK in general wouldn't be happy with him taking any sort of public role. I do actually think it's a good idea for him to be involved with estate management as he knows the buildings and grounds well.

SnowLemons · 08/03/2023 09:51

It's all just a bit awkward isn't it. I wonder if they actually all get on and have like family gatherings. Suits sounds a good idea.

I am not your personal Google.

There has been endless speculation about Andrew.

Here is Balmoral. There are plenty of other sources for this.
Here's another one. Andrew demands top role.

Are two sources enough for you?

When you say 'each of these claims' what do you mean? I have only said this. Apart from Sarah being heartbroken.

Will that suffice? No need to thank me lol

Roussette · 08/03/2023 10:45

Ahhh... got it! You think me saying "I actually think Charles dislikes his brother" is a claim?

Nah.

It's an opinion. Which is why I said "I think". A forum is full of opinions.

Thank you for those.

There really is no need for you to be so impolite.

I asked nicely in good faith as IME it is standard practice on this forum to evidence claims to reliable sources due to the shocking tabloid and SM fake news situation and I have seen you supportive of that approach in the past.

I apololgise. I was a bit arsey. Sorry.

You're welcome on the links Smile

I think Andrew is desperate for Charles to give him a role. He says somewhere that he is too young to retire and still has a lot left in him. I just don't think it will happen. Charles may not always be able to read the room, but on public opinion on Andrew, I do think he can.

MattDamon · 08/03/2023 11:04

Charles really should give him something to do (very much behind the scenes) or else he'll just get into more fuck-ups on his own.

Yeah he needs something non public facing where they can keep an eye on him and keep him busy. Maybe he could muck out the stables?

Yes, I think that all the Royal Dukes - Kent, Gloucester, York and Sussex will be treated in the same way. Prominent/family seats, but no role. Rather like at the funeral.

The Prince of Wales will probably have a role in swearing allegiance on behalf of all. The Royal Dukes that it - who's going to coverall other peers?

I don't think he should. I think it should very much be that he has retired. Find him a suitable property (I wouldn't even mind if he were left where he is - yes he's over-accommodated for a non-working royal, but at least he can be out-of-sight-out-of-mind there) and just leave him alone.

Yes he'll pop up at very major and family occasions, but that really won't be very often. And if he's bored, he can find work with one of his charities. It's unlikely he can fill a role as a patron in any satisfactory way now, but there must be many others (including backroom functions) that he could do.

I don’t think he will.

I think his chances of that happening went out the window when he took the small role he was meant to have at Philip’s memorial and made it much bigger.

He can’t be trusted to do that again.

I think the non royals will either have one representative as well, or they’ll all just swear allegiance as a group without moving from seats.

I also think that’s behind Camilla potentially having her grandchildren in place of the Duchesses - you can’t give the Duchesses a role if the Dukes aren’t getting one. So just sit them all down somewhere.

Roussette · 08/03/2023 11:27

No probs Ooompa Smile

On Andrew and him pushing himself forward at PP's memorial, yes, he did that. Some of the RF looked aghast although they tried to hide that.

Whether it's the right thing or not, I think public opinion plays a huge part as far as Andrew. He is persona non gratis as far as the public, so he just has to keep a low profile and out the way.

Abra1t · 08/03/2023 11:33

He really needs to find a low-profile charity, perhaps an animal or environmental one, and grind away in the background quietly in a no-profile role, showing some effort to redeem himself by doing something useful. Working at a dog rescue, exercising the dogs, and cleaning out the kennels? Cleaning up roadside litter or clearing streams?

If he did that for a few years I think some elements of the public would have more regard for him. I think he'd be happier too. I've found that various humble volunteer jobs, outdoors, practical work, can be very fulfilling.

My god, he would never do anything so menial as that. He just wouldn't. It's not in his make up.

He wants a showy charity to front like Pitch @ The Palace until it was pulled. Andrew flew all round the world with his £250K security to countries in the ME, and China with very dodgy human rights records. The whole enterprise was set up as a profit making deal and a lot of it ended up in PA's pocket. (There is plenty out there on Google about this)

If Andrew had a scintalla of sense, he would stay out the public eye. Or he might just have all hos dodgy deals and backhanders looked at and raked over. This is one of the reasons I feel, Charles is not going to let him have any sort of role.

I think Andrew "grinding away" is largely what's led tto many of the problems Wink

I'm with Roussette on this about him trying whatever he can to somehow get back in; the only thing I continue to wonder is just how much Charles can afford to upset him

Viviennemary · 08/03/2023 12:09

I hope Harry and Meghan don't go. If Andrew goes he will be very low key I expect. I dont think Harry and Meghan are too keen on low key.
