Harry had little access to money

Harry was given Nottingham Cottage a 2 bedroom cottage presumably rent free. He was given security paid by the taxpayers. He was also given a clothing allowance from Charles to pay for clothes for formal public occasions.

But he obviously had little access to money. He bought his casual clothes cheap from TK Maxx and talks about drying shirts on radiators.

When he told Charles he was going to marry Meghan Charles said he could not afford to pay for Meghan and Harry as he was already paying for William and Catherine. Charles suggested Meghan continued working to pay for Garry and Meghan. Meghan paid for furniture from Ikea and sofa.com to improve the furnishings in Nottingham Cottage.

Charles paid for Harry and Meghan's wedding. Although Meghan paid for her own wedding dress. The taxpayers paid for the security.

Remember Harry and Meghan were working Royals.

The taxpayers paid for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage. A cost that Harry and Meghna paid back when they left the Royal Family.

The Civil List used to give a defined amount to each working Royal. But that was changed and all the money went to the heir to dole out.

The Queen and Charles appear to be remarkably stingy towards their own child and grandchild.

@DownNative He did not talk about driving, he talked about owning a car.

And?

He could have owned a car irrespective of whether he personally drove it or not!

His Grandparents drove Land Rovers on public roads themselves. 🙄🤥🙄🤥🙄🤥🙄

That photo of Kate is obviously PR. It has been taken behind the cashier where the public are not allowed to go.

It looks like it was taken on a phone to me. It was probably taken by a Range staff member.

She looks to be standing in line to me. And there are other photos. Plus other occasions she's been seen out in 'ordinary' shops.

Tough being royal where you 'have to' shop in discount stores, isn't it? Happily mansions in Montecito and cottages in the Cotswolds are really cheap, so they can afford them quite easily.

He should have took a couple of his grannys jewels down cash converters like the kids round here do

So Kate shops in a normal shop and is obviously PR. Harry does the same and its evidence that he is living as a pauper neglected by his awful family.

This thread is wild.

It's obviously a row of tills and the photo's been taken from the next till over. I don't think a PR shot would have been quite so blurry. But you carry on......

Blossomtoes · 13/01/2023 17:00

Wasn’t Kate regularly spotted in Waitrose when they lived in Anglesey?

😂😂😂 Photographic proof, but must be fake. Albeit if it was proof for H&M I bet you'd think thats real.

oohokay · 13/01/2023 17:01

That photo of Kate is very zoomed in, obviously the photographer isn't standing right behind the cashier but from a distance away. There are obviously multiple rows of cashiers as well.

The RF could very well have called the paps though. But I think it's been well established over the years that Kate genuinely shops at normal brand shops. I don't think she should be given kudos for that actually, and based on Harry's well-documented lavish lifestyle as well (so maybe his holidays and parties were charged to the family card instead of his personal card, does it make a difference?!) I really don't think shopping at Tkmaxx and Ikea is something to seek sympathy over.

ThighMistress · 13/01/2023 17:02

I think it’s the case that he was given everything, from accommodation to holidays to polo ponies to drugs etc etc etc.

So he was genuinely “entitled” : he had no idea how to go about anything and got in a tizz when he was expected to stand on his own two feet. He was institutionalised but lashed out when he didn’t like some of the harsher bits of “freedom”.

When Charles said he “couldn’t afford Meghan” didn’t it occur to Harry that that was because she was too extravagant? You can bet your life that Charles wouldn’t have said that about me! (Expert money saver…)

And most well off families would rather give money to adult children than see them going without.

And what exactly is Harry doing without?

It's a shame he didn't inherit any money from his mother, he could have used that to buy a tumble dryer. Presumably she left it all to William, no wonder he's bitter.

William and Harry were the main beneficiaries of her estate

It's a row of tills where the people at the next till are behind the cashier of the previous one. Quite clearly.

Ponderingwindow · 13/01/2023 17:07

Even if we suppose that reports are inflated and he only had a principle of say 20 million and it was only earning 1% a year. That would still give him 200,000 a year without touching the principle while having no major life expenses like housing.

plenty of wealthy people shop at discount stores. Frugality is an important life skill regardless of your financial status

No it isn’t, have ever you been to The Range? The cash registers are set up in rows like in supermarkets, the picture is taken from the checkout behind, you can clearly see the checkout in front too.

IcedPurple · 13/01/2023 17:08

I'd be surprised if the poster has ever been to Britain.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 13/01/2023 17:09

Another shopping one for you OP

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:09

@StatisticallyChallenged The original photo on this thread is taken from behind the cashier in a place the public can not go. And now there is another one taken from a totally different article. It is a pr shot. That is fine, this is normal from celebrities.

You’re being ridiculous. The picture quality is awful. It’s obviously been taken ob a phone - a pretty old one at that.

Except it clearly isn’t… anyone who’s been in a branch of the range can see that.

To what end?

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:13

@LadyVictoriaSponge That is at a foodbank.
