Harry not welcome at Coronation, there's a surprise!

Harry is not welcome at the Coronation by senior royals in case their conversations appear in the paperback edition of 'Spare'. (A source reveals).

Can't say I blame them.

You and your grandchildren won’t see the end of the monarchy, I’m afraid for you

Rowthe · 12/01/2023 11:14

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 12/01/2023 07:03

He will be invited and he will not attend. It's very simple.

They will be invited.

They will attend.

Then they will be back in the press talking about how badly they were treated- maybe their bedroom wasn't to their liking and publicising private conversations that were had.

Ratherubbish · 12/01/2023 11:15

Why pretend all is well? Just don't invite them, both sides need the time apart to heal emotionally.

Brefugee · 12/01/2023 11:16

What, demonstrating that not only are they all fucking mad, they’ve driven one of them so tonto he’ll write about his todger in the same paragraph as his mother’s Elizabeth Arden cream. Harry is a product of the monarchy and his going rogue reflects on them as much as it does him.

the whole thing is so batshit. I want more palace leaks now. MORE.

The only good thing about Charles is that he said he'd slim down the monarchy. I want to see that. I want a low-key coronation. He probably thinks "ah, plebs are having a tough time, here's more Bread and Circuses for them"

But whatever. It is entertaining, I'll give it that.

Wheresthebeach · 12/01/2023 11:17

Harry seems to have suggested that he needs an apology from them and that's not going to happen.

I expect them to come, then they can bleat about how nobody spoke to them, how traumatising it all is. They need more fodder for their life of grievance and the Coronation is too big an opportunity for content and photo's to miss.

I sincerely hope they chose to stay away, but they love a media circus and this is too big a stage for them to miss.

Rowthe · 12/01/2023 11:19

They would want to make sure their own and their kids faces are represented in the history books.

There is no way they will miss the event if they are invited.

That’s an interesting interpretation. Why aren’t they all barking in that case? Of course you’ll now say they are but there isn’t much evidence of it.

pushchairprincess · 12/01/2023 11:26

They will overshadow what should be a magnificent celebration - hope they are invited - fully knowing they will not have the brass neck to attend.

You don’t find Charles and his desires to be a tampon and his green-ink scrawly letters about the environment to be at the very least eccentric? What about Randy Andy and his proclivities? Wills and his temper? Philip and his “comedic” racism? Afraid I don’t know enough about Edward to comment on his sanity: wasn’t he the brains behind It’s a Royal Knockout!? I say “brains”... Anyway, en masse, particularly when they’re prannying about pretending to be all military or divvying up tiaras and curtsying and all the rest of it, they don’t come across as the sanest bunch. Then they marry in fresh blood like dippy Diana to add to the dysfunction!

Yep! If this pattern continues they might be worth it for the drama alone.

H&M have the perfect excuse not to attend as the Coronation falls on Archie’s 4th birthday.

Bouncy castle already booked and they'll lose their deposit if they cancel

WinnieTheW0rm · 12/01/2023 13:08

I think they will be invited

And they could have a lovely party for Archie here, with all his cousins. Plus one with his US ones when they get back. Could be a real win/win

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 12/01/2023 13:09

I think like many women my age, I have a tube of 8-hour cream even though I suspect we all think it’s overrated.

How the fuck am I EVER going to be able to use it again without muttering “it rubs the lotion on its skin” or “are you my mummy?”.

Florissant · 12/01/2023 13:10

A surprise to whom?

pushchairprincess · 12/01/2023 13:19

PMSL at this one

WerkinMum · 12/01/2023 13:21

The story is that an invitation will be attended as to be a matter of record, but it's being made very clear to H&M that they're expected to find a polite reason not to attend.

Florissant · 12/01/2023 13:25

I think Harry will be washing his hair plugs that day.

Just putting this out there but last year Meghan's IMDB page included the Coronation 2023 as an upcoming TV credit appearing as herself (like her appearance at the Queen's funeral is also on her credit list). Now it is no longer there

Read into that what you will

EsmaCannonball · 12/01/2023 13:58

If I were the royal family, I'd be tempted to circumnavigate 'never complain, never explain' by inviting him and then saying what the hell I liked, knowing it would find its way into print.

Extract from Spare II:
I'd always been wary of Princess Alexandra since an episode where I'd watched 101 Dalmatians after consuming several weed-laced flapjacks and dreamt of her clad in the dripping carcasses of a thousand red squirrels. Nevertheless, it was still a shock when she said I looked like a 'ginger Rory McGrath' and said she didn't want to share a pew with someone 'when she was more familiar with his penis than with the back of her own hand.'

I felt like fleeing the Abbey and just finding a comforting Nando's, but I looked up at one of the gargoyles and it seemed to be beaming thoughts straight into my brain: You can do this, Harry. This is your destiny. If you run now, you will never become Prince of World Peace.

I was further buoyed by Freddie Windsor complimenting my TKMaxx socks, but I later heard him whispering to Tom Parker Bowles, 'God, who wears towelling to a formal.'

Bluekerfuffle · 12/01/2023 14:00

Even if invited, I don’t think they will go. They are both massive egos that like adoration. They will get boos instead and they know that.

daretodenim · 12/01/2023 16:51

They'll go if they're invited. For sure. They'll have to in order to get fodder for Still Spare/Sparer/Spare II. They will definitely not turn down an invitation. If pressure is put on them to politely decline, they'll be releasing statements saying they're being forced not to attend (and poor, poor us).

An option would be to remove their titles and invite them in that capacity. They get on the bus with everybody else, sit in the crowd of the "minor" royals and are basically not seen.

The thing is who would want to even sit next to them? The next book will be "relative X didn't speak to me during the coronation ceremony"!

I mean, if I had any reason to be alone in a room with Harry (which thankfully I don't), I'd refuse. Because you never know what he'll be writing about his recollection of our conversation in 10 years time. Who would actually want to be around him?

Ah, more of the RF’s “dignified silence”…

Bless em, not being able to explain or complain 🤣

lifeinthehills · 12/01/2023 08:05

I read in another thread that Harry would have to take an oath of allegiance as a duke. If so, wouldn't he have to attend, or can that be done another time? What if he chooses not to take such an oath? I admit I know nothing of these protocols.

That’s being changed for multiple reasons.

The royal Dukes atm are William, Harry, Andrew, Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent. Harry and Andrew are obviously problematic and the Duke of Kent is very, very frail.

I think all of the Dukes apart from William will be sat with the family, instead of standing nearby ready to kneel and pledge.

If true, that's rather tacky
And yes, she does list both funeral and a Platinum Jubilee TV special as as credits for "self" (as opposed to as "actress"

There are three upcoming productions listed for 2023:

Meghan Markle: Unforgived
Harry & Meghan: The Great Divide
Modern Royal Weddings
