Harry still smoking cannabis 2 years ago

He describes going out for a spliff while everyone else is asleep when they were staying at Tyler Perry’s house.

I think this explains a lot. We have always known he had a history of drug use but the fact he is still (or until pretty recently) smoking cannabis, when we know that long term usage can cause paranoia, makes sense of his belief people in his family are briefing against him, his absolute conviction that all kinds of petty things in the past from his bedroom size to expressions on Kate’s face show deep hostility to Meghan and him.

I am not dismissing the fact that Meghan has been the victim of racism both inside and outside the family (Princess Michael’s brooch/ the worst stuff in the press and online) but Harry seems very ready to take it as representative of wider attitudes. I wonder if part of the problem has been that when Meghan has needed help navigating and translating an alien culture and family, the help he has given her has been reflective of his own paranoia and encouraged her to interpret things as hostile when they’re not meant that way.

The thing is given his history with the press and the racism that still exists they do have a lot to be paranoid about but what if his ‘everyone’s out to get us’ ageing stoner brain is stopping him keeping it in proportion?

I know a good few dope smokers (haven’t myself for years because I stopped smoking).

CEO’s, MD’s, lawyers, doctors. Fully functioning well rounded people with - shock! - kids.

A few spliffs a week over years and years doesn’t have to cause a problem.

Heavy use at a young age and the associated brain changes seems to cause problems though.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/01/2023 10:08

It would explain his paranoia.

Yes. OP you may be onto something.

ReunitedThorns · 10/01/2023 10:09

A husband/father either getting drunk or stoned just about every night is irresponsible. Clearly he's No.1, not his wife or children.

Not with the people I know. I’m talking about people I’ve known since I was late teens. I only know of one who had real issues but they were deep seated and it was alcohol that became their problem.

caringcarer · 10/01/2023 10:16

He also complained after William and Catherine had George he was not invited around to KP. Not surprised they did not want a druggie around their young son.

queenofarles · 10/01/2023 10:20

Many people can smoke cannabis and it's a simple recreational drug. Not ideal, but probably no worse than alcohol.

a glass of wine In the evenings isn’t exactly like smoking a joint , are you even serious 😵‍💫?

Living with someone how openly smokes weed few feet away from their own child is never ok with anyone, that’s a deal breaker for me ,

How could Meghan be ok with this? She felt outraged about the bridesmaid dress story but ok with her husband smoking weed?

theemmadilemma · 10/01/2023 10:20

Y'all know it's legal in more and more countries now, and it won't be that long before it is here too?

It's no worse than alcohol. In fact it's a fucking whole lot better imo.

A large majority of people can use for years with no issues, just like alcohol.

trucklebrunch · 10/01/2023 10:23

What effects one person may not effect someone else in the same way. Regular cannabis use often causes mood swings, depression, anxiety & paranoia. But it may could have little or no effect on someone.

Just because you know a CEO who smokes regularly without any side effects doesn't mean that nobody experiences side effects.

MeinKraft · 10/01/2023 10:29

@YellowAndGreenToBeSeen that's great for your friends, but extensive research exists on this and use of cannabis and other drugs at a young age can cause brain changes that result in lifelong problems. Anecdata isn't particularly helpful because so many mental health and brain functioning problems are well hidden - how many times have we heard a suicide described as a total shock because everyone thought the person was totally fine? And also because there will of course be outliers - people who aren't affected at all, like your friends.

bakalava · 10/01/2023 10:34

Stoners usually come in pairs. The differences arise in habits (amounts, regularity) but is a sentiment as much as an activity as far as I know.

I have not come across stoners who have a problem smoking either alone or together after their kids have gone to bed.
Here we have one person letting their public halo slip and one person wanting to keep their public halo on. That is the only difference.

queenofarles · 10/01/2023 10:39

Funny how some are absolutely pro the consumptions Cannabis just because their favourite couple have no issues with it,

HaveYouSeenNancy · 10/01/2023 11:00

Wouldn't Meghan have been pregnant with Lili 2 years ago when he admitted to smoking weed? Those saying no issue with that? Seriously? While pregnant?

bakalava · 10/01/2023 11:41

The pettiness of the complaints, the blank spots in memory for both of them, the paranoia, the complex sentences meaning nothing. If anybody brings down the show, I hope it wont be stoners.

rolls eyes

Your doctor probably does it. Infact there was a good documentary a while back about the cocaine issues in adults in the UK.

Besides cannabis is being used for medicinal purposes.

Time to stop judging people's drug use. He doesn't appear to be an addict.

No worse than the ultra processed food people consume but you don't see such outrage over that do you, how dare he eat that cake!

It might be ok for many people but some people especially young men are sometimes subject to schizophrenia.

Pretty sure Meghan would be ok with it. She had cannabis “favours” at her own wedding. And there are stories about her mother working in the cannabis industry.

I have a family member with schizophrenia triggered by smoking weed as a teenager, and a friend whose schizophrenia is highly likely to be linked to weed. so I disagree very much with this.

queenofarles · 10/01/2023 12:14

Dreamstate do you do it? Will you object if your partner smokes one every night before bed?
seeing how you think everyone does it and you have no issues with it ,

we only see the heavily contrived Harry for like two seconds , how can you tell he has no substances issues?
most drug addicts celebs don’t show any signs , I was shocked to find out that Kirsten Dunst and Brad Pitt both did drugs .

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/01/2023 12:22

I was naive/stupid enough to believe that all the drug taking by H predated M and that now he'd found real happiness he no longer needed it.

i find it kind of shocking to read he keeps weed in the family home, his children could easily access it.

Presumably you keep things in your family home that small children shouldn't have access to, so you keep it in a safe spot - off the top of my head, kitchen knives, lighters or matches, alcohol, bleach.

queenofarles · 10/01/2023 12:41

Bernadette
There is a big difference between someone who gets wasted every night with a stash near by , and a normal functioning person,
besides don’t all parents point dangerous items to children to avoid? And teach them how to later properly use the lighter , bleach , knives and stay away from alcohol till 16?

is the same applied to weed smokers?

What do weed smokers teach their children about their paraphernalia ? Don’t touch daddies/mommies things, but you can when your 8, 11 ,13? .

this thread feels like the new what about Andrew!

it’s ridiculous!

Aphrathestorm · 10/01/2023 12:47

Cannabis induced psychosis is a serious condition. It's often permanent and is worse for the brain than the effects of alcohol within the guidance limits.

He shows all the signs.

People who minimise it are daft.

It's a mental health time bomb of the future.

I didnt day everyone does i siad more people than your realise do drugs.

I go to alot of music events and meet people in their 40, 50s who take drugs.

If an adult wants to take drugs, their body their choice. I wouldn't say no if my partner did it so long as it wasn't an addiction.

i find it kind of shocking to read he keeps weed in the family home, his children could easily access it.

But u don't know that, just like some Americans have guns in their house are you going to say same thing their kids could have easy access.

You keep knives in your house your kids have easy access to that. Is that a fair assumption to make about you?
