This. Well done to the Middleton's, all they wanted was the very best for their three children. They worked hard & put family first & foremost.

People aren’t criticising her for this. Do you actually think it’s ok she goes around treating people like shit because her daughter married someone famous?

Getinajollymood · 11/01/2023 19:56

It isn’t acceptable to treat anyone badly (if indeed the stories are true) but that isn’t the point.

If a gay person was rude in a supermarket, it would still be completely unacceptable to respond to this with homophobia: you wouldn’t use offensive terms or insult their choice of partner because they were rude.

Likewise, using someone’s previously lower job status to insult them is just awful. It implies there is something wrong with being an air hostess - there isn’t.

Lol - yeah Carole has demanded an extra till be opened for her on several occasions (live near them)

If queues are long I always find a supervisor and ask for another till to be opened. Then when the cashier is coming to the till I go and stand at it even if I was last in the queue. If other people want to stand in a queue for ages and not think about getting an extra one open that’s fine but don’t ever try and get in front of me when I have.

It’s disgusting.

Some really don’t like a woman going up in the world, do they? Hmm

Lots of people are frightened on takeoff.

Itsmetoddkraines · 11/01/2023 19:58

@Kateforqueen I’m not sure about ‘well done’ - they have 3 very expensively educated children with no record of steady employment. If the girls hadn’t married well, they’d be in trouble.

Both Pippa and Kate were a few years older at school - Pippa considered very pretty and was popular and outgoing. Kate, never noticed her.

It must be hard / awkward to be Carole or Pippa and everyone stare at you when you’re out and know you’re being watched and judged, purely on who you’re related to. I find it hard to believe Carole would be rude - she knows very well people will be watching. I think people like to think she’s stuck up etc based on misogynistic views on an attractive woman that has gone ‘up’ in the world.

MintyFreshOne · 11/01/2023 19:58

Suzi89 · 11/01/2023 19:51

Well it’s a sexist, rude comment to assume she’s “dim”. Why? Because she’s an attractive female she can’t be intelligent?

Ok but presumably this was an opinion formed while meeting her? So not an assumption then?

I don’t recall anyone saying cuz she’s cute she must be dumb, etc etc

@Itsmetoddkraines no hats off to Carol & Michael. Carole changed careers becoming an entrepreneur, ran a very successful business (which is still operating) & was a hands on mum. She is now a very hands on grandmother, looks fantastic, fit & healthy. That is admirable.

Hollyhobbi · 11/01/2023 20:03

Just to clarify Santa Sabina where Vogue went to Secondary school is not a private or fee paying school. It's an all girls Catholic school like St Louis High School in Rathmines where my two daughters went. They seem to ask for a 'voluntary donation' much like St. Louis's do though if that's what ye mean by fees! Which would be a couple of hundred Euro a year compared to thousands a year in private school!

Itsmetoddkraines · 11/01/2023 20:07

@Kateforqueen lol if you think party pieces put three kids through Marlborough and paid for their house and lifestyle.

She does look great though and appear to be a very close family.

Suzi89 · 11/01/2023 20:08

The point of bringing up Carole’s past is that surely as someone who has worked in a similar role should know not to treat service workers like absolute shit. How would she like it if she’d of had to deal with that sort of behaviour when she was on the plane?

It is great to live in 2023 and read how people actually describe being HUMBLE as a positive trait in a modern woman. Hopefully she also understands to walk two steps behind her husband and to never contradict anyone. Yikes!

I think it’s nice when anyone, man or woman, is very clearly incredibly privileged but is still humble. Weird this description got such a sarcastic response. Should royal women be ostentatious gobshites?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 11/01/2023 20:11

Elisabetty · 11/01/2023 14:06

I know excactly what humble means and I find it truly horrible that anyone should act "modest and grateful and not showing off". All women everywhere should always be proud of their achievements and let their light shine and state their opinions. Especially gratefulness is something that should never be required from anyone.

Christ I bet you have horrible spoilt show off kids if you think everyone should scream about their achievements and no one should be grateful

HangoverSquare · 11/01/2023 14:36

I'm sure I read that the Middleton's were able to afford to send their children to public school due to an educational trust set up by a forebear several generations back.

Or maybe because they had a multi million pound business?

Cariadz · 11/01/2023 20:12

Suzi89 · 11/01/2023 19:30

Not clever?? Based on what exactly? She got an A in A level Maths which is not easy, I doubt you’d be able to get that.

My daughter in law was cabin crew. She’s educated to Masters level and is now thinking about doing her PhD. She also speaks 5 European languages fluently. She became cabin crew for a bit of fun and to leave home on a bit of an adventure.

bakalava · 11/01/2023 20:14

Wouldn't it be funny if it was revealed that Kate's parents were also lottery winners. Two daughters of lottery winners marrying a pair of princes. What would one make of that? 😎

TheSnugglyDuckling · 11/01/2023 00:04

Someone I know (a tabloid journalist) bumped into Michael Middleton at the supermarket and despite not knowing him went up to him to say hello/chat (off the record). Apparently Michael was extremely pleasant and polite. They are a class act.

And I’ve asked for tills to be opened at the supermarket when there’s a long queue and staff milling around.

I'm rather taken aback that Carole and Michael do their own shopping. They have housekeeping staff, surely?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 11/01/2023 20:17

Being humble and modest is the reason why so many women get bypassed when it comes to promotions and advancement in career

No, that’s sexism.

Humble: having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's importance.

Entirely appropriate for someone who by virtue of marrying the right chap, is gonna get the promotion of her life one day, to be modest about her importance

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 11/01/2023 20:19

No one should have to be grateful for good things in life, everyone deserves them. I will never be grateful for my good education, I worked hard to get it. My good health is part luck, part my own healthy habits, no need to be grateful. If you don't have a loving family from the start, you need to ditch them when you grow up and find more reserving people

You probably have good health because of where you have been brought up, your healthcare options and people who have made your health good. Why SHOULDN’T you be grateful?

If my DD was a total brat who was proudly ungrateful in life I really do hope she ditches me when she’s older. Can’t imagine she’d find anyone more deserving though with that attitude

Cismyfatarse · 11/01/2023 20:26

My friend taught W&H at Ludgrove. W was very earnest and always wanting to do his best; Harry hurt his wrist throwing a chair (press were told it was a basketball injury). He was loud, mouthy and some other boys were a bit scared of him.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 11/01/2023 20:12

No.

Their children were attending boarding school before the business hit the big time.

There was a family educational trust.

Named changed for this as it’s a bit outing. I live about half a mile from the Middletons. Got a lot of stories, but the thing about the neighbours is we don’t talk about them. Mike slows down when he passes me on my horse and always gives a cheery wave, but I’ve never spoken to him.

So you've name changed just to post that you have lots of stories but won't post them?

Great!! Thanks!!

You’re so obsessed you’re posting on threads about them and you’re mocking me for knowing anything about them?

What kinds of results did she get for her spelling tests in primary school? Consult your files at once.

Some very snobbish digs on here about Carole being a former air hostess

Also a bit Hmm about sneering about someone ‘only’ having a wealthy stepfather and the comments about council estates. Maybe some people here could do with a bit of humility themselves.

Can someone explain to me who Vogue Williams is and how she relates to the PoW? I don’t watch UK reality TV so have heard of her name but don’t know why she’s actually famous

Genevieva · 11/01/2023 20:35

@Branster I honestly think that her hair is just naturally thick and glossy. My mother's hair was identical. She is mid 70s now and still naturally only a little grey. Also her hair styles were pretty similar to some of Kate's when I was growing up - the curls done with Carmen rollers.

There is no reason for anyone to Lord it over anyone else. Having money and status doesn’t make anyone an intrinsically better person
than someone who doesn’t have those things. Class is actually treating everyone with respect and kindness.
