The royal family

will the Taliban anger be the perfect excuse to ban Harry and Meghan from the coronation?

Just that really. Harry has upped the terror threat and put himself, his family and the royal family at risk, along with the british people.

Can the King say, in view of his comments and the risk to Harry personally, it would be better if he did not attend?

I think it delivers a very convenient excuse for all parties, to be honest.

steff13 · 08/01/2023 21:07

I was thinking so. And obviously there's going to be tons of security at the coronation but they don't want to put a target on the event, or at least a bigger target than what there already will be.

Bluebelleggs · 08/01/2023 21:08

I think the whole celebration will need revising. The security risk already high has to be deemed higher off the back of this.

The Taliban have said to their followers, in response to him declaring himself he has a kill number and that it is 25, that they must have been civilians. Who knows what a lone-wolf extremest or extremest group will potentially take from this as their desired target should they be minded to do so: Harry; his wife; his children; the RF; 25 military personnel; or 25 British civilians. They’ll be lots of the last 3 of those potential targets all in the same place this coming May even if PH doesn’t come.

Newwardrobe · 08/01/2023 21:08

Let's hope so , what an utter fool Harry is .

mpsw · 08/01/2023 21:12

No, I don't think his presence will materially alter the threat assessment or the scale of security operation that will be required.

And I think he'll be invited

DaphneMorris · 08/01/2023 21:14

It allows a reason, more so than an excuse

kirwanco · 08/01/2023 21:16

I’d suggest people stop indulging in this pretentious wank and actually focus on real issues in society like 2 million people dependent on food banks, nurses who can’t pay their electricity bills and failing public services.

Blossomtoes · 08/01/2023 21:16

I suspect the King will be strongly advised not to invite them. The security risk was already massive, this book has magnified it hugely. What a stupid man he is.

Hawkins001 · 08/01/2023 21:17

The country is always at risk from one threat or another, personally if I was the head of an intelligence dept id be looking at different strategies for maximum success for different covert operations across the board, why should we bow down to other people, why not take charge be the master chief so to speak,

Aah…..but none of that is entertaining though, is it? This entire sideshow rightly or wrongly represents a bit of escapism for most.

SighsTheNewWord · 08/01/2023 21:19

I think they should still be invited; they're his children after all.

But I think I wouldn't want to show my face, if I were them, unless I've made up. It will be too awkward.

It's a really sad state of affairs.

kirwanco · 08/01/2023 21:24

How many Civil Lists and Duchy of Cornwalls, Buckingham Palaces and cosplaying royals does it take to fix a broken society?

NONE! Just get rid of the ones you have.

Well why are you on the royal family part of MN then? No one makes you reply

They will be the proverbial spectres at the feast 🤣

Because it’s fun to watch the Tory ladies in their hats flick through the squalid pages of the Daily Mail whilst the world burns around them.

Stunning to think that they so closely resemble humans but with empathy, compassion and reasonableness completely removed. The odd one is very racist as well.

I’m more of a red wine person to be honest if you’re getting a round in 😉

How could Harry not be there? It's the biggest moment in his df's life?

Exactly…..and he risks being upstaged by H&M

sydneysunset · 12/01/2023 08:49

They don't need an excuse. The public will support the RF's decision if they announce Harry is not invited. It is absolutely reasonable under the circumstances.

I wouldn't call it upstaged. More a very unecessary and horrible diversion from what is important.

If they do insist on coming I hope charles asks the public to not boo them as it would be disrespectful to him on this day (which would reduce H&M's next day victim statement (waa they booed us because the press told them too) and stick them right at the back behind a forest of candles and then on a plane straight back home with zero invites to further banquets etc.

To be frank, I think rhe Coronation was scheduled on Archie's birthday in order to give them both an out.

Charles will look good inviting him, but Harry won't make it due to Archie's birthday.

It will be interesting to watch all the people here bad mouth Harry for not showing up though.

StarInTheHeavens · 14/01/2023 17:58

Your child's birthday is no excuse to miss the most important day of your father's life. Very lame excuse.

H&M could be cheeky fuckers and bring a massive cake and balloons and declare it a joint party.

I think the point of my post went right over your head.
