The royal family

Has William's alleged affair been mentioned yet or is he saving for book 2?

Surprised this hasn't been exposed, thought that would be the big reveal. I'm doubting there's any truth to it now unless he's saving it for book 2?

I think it's incredibly unlikely that there was an affair. It's very very clear form the book that both William and Kate feel very strongly about sticking to protocol, the rights, the beards . Wearing of uniform etc
They haven't really put a "foot wrong' in that regard since their marriage.
I'd be shocked if William did anything that could potentially embarrass the family and particularly around affairs etc

Mirabai · 08/01/2023 14:30

That’s exactly what I thought until I spoke to someone who works at the palace. I guess even people who live by strict protocols mess up or have inconvenient feelings or wants to that can’t be shoehorned into a box.

I never believed the rumours about Charles and Diana either until they turned out to be true.

Just google, lots of publications abroad have printed about William's affairs.
Don't believe it if you want to.
You will be those like people who insisted Diana and Charles were happily married and were never going to divorce against all the evidence that said otherwise. But up to you.

The late queen commented that the foreign papers regularly had articles about her and Philip about to split/she and Princess Margaret had had a row and weren't talking/another royal marriage on the rocks/ QM was in rehab - she made a joke of it. Foreign papers know that royalty sells and the palace can't do anything about it. 'It's in the foreign press so it must be true' is a pretty weak argument.

They’re also entitled to prosecution - but they can’t be prosecuted if they are protected by the Catholic Church. You may call this forgiveness, I call it corruption and complicity in criminal offences.

It should also be noted the Catholic Church offered no support for the victims, and some found themselves ostracised by their communities.

Catholic priests have been prosecuted and received prison sentences so you assertions are wrong.

Only a few. Many were protected and never faced justice. That you don’t know that is shocked, frankly.

@ancientgran

Yes she 'said she was happy' with it

Deal re Andrew at best . As I said below 'weekend at Bernie's' at worst!

Anne is irrelevant to the issue . Though I read she wanted a divorce fromTim and the queen refused - wouldn't look good .

I think the 'whatever love is' quote is just as bad
He was telling the world he didn't love Diana
Made a mockery of the service
Then continued his affair

Why is Anne irrelevant? You asked why the Queen didn't attend their wedding, one explanation is that she didn't want to attend a civil wedding, further evidence for that would be she attended Anne's second wedding which was in a church. So the Queen did attend the church wedding of one divorced child, she didn't attend the wedding of another divorced child in a civil ceremony. The link there seems to be church v civil rather than the divorce status.

Diana went ahead after he said that, was she making a mockery of the service as well?

He said the affair started years after he married. Diana had plenty of affairs.

Of course they weren't all prosecuted, not all child abusers in any walk of life are prosecuted.

The fact is priests were prosecuted that is a documented fact.

Mirabai · 08/01/2023 15:12

Yeah and it was bollocks. In fact, C & C never stopped seeing each other. Diana realised before the wedding but she couldn’t really call it off.

Your ignorance or at least denial of the extent of the Catholic church’s complicity and cover up of sexual abuse is nauseating. Please don’t try to engage to me again. (And do yourself a favour and read up on the subject).

Justnot · 08/01/2023 15:15

Sorry if someone has already posted, I have read most of the thread but skimmed a few bits

i don’t know anything but on previous threads on this subject on MN, someone posted that the rumour started out as spoof on Dailymash or similar and it was about a royal - no names - who liked being pegged and wife wasn’t up for it

No idea if any of it is true

This started with the sanctimonious attitude that Charles can't be head of the church as he has sinned. Well we have all sinned, he is head of a Christian church that teaches forgiveness. It would be strange if he was the only Christian who can't be forgiven.

I don't know why any mention of the Catholic faith has to end up with child abuse. The vast majority of priests are good people, priests who have sinned are entitled to ask for forgiveness the same as anyone else. That is totally different to legal sanctions.

Your personal attack is against MN rules so stop now.

You obviously were stalking them were you? Or have you just decided that's what you believe regardless of you having no evidence.

I guess you haven’t seen this, where PW is dirty dancing with a young blonde while KM is home with the kids:

I thought the Queen didn't attend the civil marriage of Charles and Camilla but attended the blessing in St George's Chapel.

Mirabai · 08/01/2023 15:38

@ancientgran I criticised the Catholic Church not you personally, don’t fib.
I thought I had made myself clear - I don’t engage with people who defend the Catholic church’s abysmal record on sexual abuse. End of conversation.

Well.... Diana finding out about the bracelet Charles gave to Camilla a couple of nights before their wedding must have been awful. And her cufflinks to him. G&F or whatever it was.

If someone posted on here saying that they were due to get married and two days before they'd just found out their husband-to-be had given his ex an engraved bracelet with their nicknames on, and she gave him cufflinks, they would be saying 'call off the wedding' .

He never gave her up, whether he was seeing her or not, I bet Diana knew his heart wasn't with her, but with Camilla.

Yeah and her older sister famously said “you can’t call it off now Duch your face is on the tea towels”.

Dancing in public has never been infidelity - unless the definition has changed.

And in retrospect it would have caused less pain all round if she had.
But I doubt she regretted it because of her love for her children.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 08/01/2023 14:15

I think there was an affair and this is why Harry/William had the fall out.

If it’s not in Harry’s book, that will be the evidence that convinces me that there was no affair.

@Peasepuddingbloodycold I was convinced about the affair & thought that's what H&M were alluding to with the leaks & cover ups. Now between Pippa's baby Rose & Harry not mentioning it the book I no longer believe it. If it had been true it would have been in the book warts & all.. Unless Meghan holding onto it for hers🤔

Mirabai · 08/01/2023 16:57

Whatever the cause I don’t think there’s much dispute that Kate and Rose have fallen out - and I wouldn’t personally call my baby the name of a woman my sister had fallen out with either - so I don’t think that calls it either way. We don’t even know if the sisters are close enough to discuss that kind of thing.

MintyFreshOne · 08/01/2023 18:14

oh yes, putting your hands on another woman and gyrating on her is technically not cheating.

But it is sleazy and says a lot (of not good things) about PW character

And as a PP said her sisters told her it was too late to call it off. Her own family. They know about Charles & Camilla & they threw Diana to the wolves. The ones who should have protected her, but Earl Spencer wanted one his daughters to he be Queen & he didn’t give a shit about how it came about.

BradfordGirl · 08/01/2023 19:00

Diana had a dysfunctional family who did not protect her. And the Royal Family who was happy to take advantage of her youth and naivety.

BradfordGirl · 08/01/2023 19:08

Photos could come out of Camilla and Charles holding hands weeks after his marriage to Diana, and some of you will still be defending him.

Charles clearly carried on having an affair with Camilla. William also clearly had affairs.
