And there we have the most poignant part of the Prince Harry meltdown thus far…. for me anyway. Absolutely anyone with a relationship to or with someone in the armed forces will know how badly he has properly not just crossed, but happily hurdled lines now. He is a disgrace first and foremost for his attitude to the very difficult and precarious line normal soldiers have to tread. Shame on him.

I’m really not trying to be goady but I’m thinking of films like American Sniper. Wasn’t he revered for his supposedly very high number of people he’d killed? Or is it a different culture in the US compared to here?

Completely different culture in the US, a friend of mine commented when he visited (with his regiment) how the US Armed forces were such a different breed and the entire culture surrounding it was almost the opposite to what he was used to.

My friend and the men he was with found it very difficult to get used to.

But I suppose its no different to the many other cultural differences between the UK and the US, we may speak the same language but the countries are world's apart.

My husband is ex forces, he doesn’t really care about rhe whole Meghan harry nonsense. Or follow it, but I commented harry had said he’d personally killed 25 afghanis and he reacted quite angrily/shocked and said ffs. I think most forces personnel will feel the same.

I think though it’s less about etiquette, and more about there is now a significant increased safety risk to harry and his family. He’s just announced he killed 25 afghanis , the chances of someone somewhere wanting revenge has got to be high. Those 25 people will have had families, children, friends. Putting the dates and locations together isn’t hard.

right now it’s getting lost in the noise of all the other shit he’s said. But for some people, somewhere it won’t be lost. It will be front of mind. And they will be doing the math.
