Bookclub for Spare

I know there are loads of threads, but thought it may be useful to set up a bookclub thread ahead of the release date fir those interested. I've ordered the audiobook as struggling to find time to read at the moment but love I can listen to an Audiobook while cooking etc

I agree, some kids can be little devils when they see an opportunity for a put down, not all kids. Some kids would never mock others and those who do, don't usually grow out of that mindset, it just applies differently.

Seeing that some children can be spiteful little power seekers, it would be horrible if as a result of Harry digging up that puerile flower girl dress 'memory', Charlotte, who's only 7 years old would get mocked by the children at her school. Let's remember that she had just turned 3 at the time of the Sussex wedding.

Uncle Harry and aunt Meghan have managed to draw Charlotte into their toxic publicity drama, which is really inappropriate. There was simply no need, they could have cleared the flower girl misunderstanding up differently and taken the moral high ground rather than outing themselves as petty and grudging.

So he is claiming that the whole drug scandal/rehab media frenzy was because Camilla’s spin doctor had sacrificed Harry on the personal PR altar. It made Charles look better. He will no longer be seen as an adulterer but as a struggling single dad with a drug addicted son.

Just lurking as this thread saves me the effort of reading it myself. Can I ask a question?

Slightly off topic but obviously all these TV interviews are standard publicity, selling a book tour (not that this one really needs the extra publicity). Would he be paid for these interviews or is it part of the deal that you make yourself available to promote the book you have written? (Obviously most authors who haven't written a best seller need the publicity and would be keen to promote their book anyway).

Getting caught up, so don't know if someone answered this yet. Typically they do not get paid extra. It is all wrapped into the contract.

I am just getting started. On ch 3. So far ny inpression is that it is very well written. Nothing what I expected after press leak translations.

Also funny to note that his book was #4 on Amazon before the leak. It moved him up to #1 after the leak. I can't wait to see the pre-order figures.

I’m only on chapter 5 on Audible, but I’m enjoying it very much. It’s really well written and Harry has a great voice for reading. It’s so much more than all of those quotes taken out of context.

I know people like to say no-one’s buying it, but my friend is a manager in Waterstones and she said they haven’t seen sales like this since Harry Potter.

I finished it earlier. Actually really enjoyed it and it's nothing like the leaks would have you believe.

Think he came across as a normal human trying to break a shit cycle mostly.
