And another interview...

This whole drama gets weirder and weirder.

He is completely deluded, lost the plot it feels.

And I'm no royalist either

Okay. I am not a fan of substituting animals for human relationships. But up to you.

Ohnonevermind · 04/01/2023 19:35

@BradfordGirl

after a couple of days away with the kids at my parents, I’m all co-slept out 🤣
I cannot wait for my large bed tonight hoepfully without any children joining us

Do castles have super kings, any I’ve seen as a visitor have small looking doubles- I don’t know if I could manage that

UrsulaPandress · 04/01/2023 19:35

Thanks.

🙄

I've just watched the video and not read the full thread but why does he keep sniffing? Bizarre behaviour.

Most couples my age I know have a spare bedroom. None sleep apart. They are in their fifties, sixties and seventies.
Are you wealthy with partially arranged marriages?

Well out of our friends who I spoke about above the only couple who had an arranged marriage was dh & I. And the only ones who still share a bed.

That’s what the Spaniel is for.

You're on the side of the poor little rich boy constantly going to the press to moan about how beastly the press is and how daddy won't give him yet more money?

The whole family are spoilt

I don't think it's ever been a secret that Camilla has kept on her old home that she uses as a bolt-hole to escape the formalities of royal life. Charles was pictured dropping her off there the day after the Queen's funeral.

Bloody good idea, if you ask me. How many of us might do the same thing, if we had the means?

My old boss, very wealthy, and his wife were like this, they had the main family home and she had her getaway. Seemed to work well. Most of us can't afford it.

Butteredtoast55 · 04/01/2023 20:34

@MissMarpleRocks
I was talking to a group of friends just before Christmas and it was exactly the same - of all the married couples only one still sleep in the same bed. There were lots of reasons from shift working, snoring, different likes and dislikes regarding room temperature, watching TV, sleeping habits, reading....ages vary from late 40s to mid 60s. These are still long and happy marriages and there was a lot of talk about how romantic and flirty it is to visit each others rooms!

ancientgran · 04/01/2023 20:37

MissMarpleRocks · 04/01/2023 18:58

I’m getting to the age now where most of our friends all have separate bedrooms. They’ve all been married 25+ years but seem quite happy with the decision.

Amen to that. Had to share a bedroom as a child, got married so went from one shared bedroom to another. At 60 with kids gone and empty bedroom I decided it was time for me to have my own bedroom. It's bliss.

MissMarpleRocks · 04/01/2023 20:51

It’s nice to see people do what’s right for them.

spuddel · 04/01/2023 21:06

DH and I are married over twenty years and have had separate rooms for most of that. I need a cold room with windows/curtains open, he needs it dark and warm. And he is very tall so tends to sleep on a diagonal which is irritating. Works well for us.

Eilan50 · 04/01/2023 21:12

Well this threads taken an unexpected direction Grin

BradfordGirl · 04/01/2023 18:47

So Charles refuses to let Camilla use any of the four reception rooms in Highgrove to meet her children and grandchildren? Because that is the implication of what you are saying.
And of course Camilla has staff.

Camilla has her own home because she prefers it. Making up ridiculous reasons insults our intelligence.

I imagine if she did host her children and grandchildren at royal homes regularly then you'd be complaining about the expense of it all.
She has older children who are not royal so it's only right that they have a place where they can visit their mother/ grandmother without being in the public eye or would you force them to only be able to have holidays with her at their own homes and force the grandchildren out of having sleepovers at Grandma's house?

meercat23 · 04/01/2023 21:23

I don't often chip in to these threads as some of them can get quite nasty but I just wanted to say that it makes a lot of sense to me for Camilla to keep her own home. She has her own children and grandchildren who are not royal. On her own territory they can enjoy the kind of family life they always enjoyed without the protocol intruding. I have read rumours about issues such as smoking and untidiness but who knows and that is between them. Keeping some normality for the non royal part of the family seems sensible and lovely to me.

lollipoprainbow · 04/01/2023 18:46

Sounds like she wants her cake and eat it.

And why not? It sounds like the perfect arrangement to me. I’d do it if we could afford two houses.

lollipoprainbow · 04/01/2023 21:37

@Blossomtoes most people can't afford a house each, thereby showing how completely out of touch they are.

I know that. But if you could, why not? I always thought Helena Bonham Carter and her bloke had the right idea, they lived next door to each other. Very civilised.

lollipoprainbow · 04/01/2023 21:46

@Blossomtoes yes I bloody would if I could !

BlackFriday · 04/01/2023 21:49

Camilla keeping Raymill House is a drop in the ocean to what they could afford. There's Highgrove, Clarence House, Buckingham Palace, Windsor, Sandringham, Balmoral and their Scottish castle (the name of which escapes me).
I reckon Charles will let some of these go in some shape or form in due course.

My DH is an insomniac and literally cannot sleep if there's any sort of noise - even me breathing, let alone snoring. We would have been divorced long ago had we not had the luxury of spare room (for him!)

Highgrove was his. She bought Hers from her divorce settlement. She kept her house when they married. People do. It’s a second marriage which took place after all children had grown and after they both had their own homes.

I would be devastated if DH wanted to live in a separate house from me.

LavenderHillMob · 04/01/2023 22:22

I also assume Camilla needs to keep a house as she will need a home if Charles pre-deceases her.

I don't see her hanging around like the late Queen Mother.

Birkhall

And the Castle of Mey and their house in Dumfries. They also have a house in Wales.
