I thought I'd create a more light hearted thread. What are your (positive) predictions for the royal family in 2023.

I think King Charles will have a successful coronation.
Eugenie will have a baby.
The royal family will work more.

What are yours?

I read somewhere or was it in the NF series (honestly can't remember and haven't got time to look at the mo) that H&M offered to give up their titles but Charles refused.

If we're not paying for H&M it's nothing to do with us how they earn their money. Just imagine they say nothing about the RF and they still earn money, what will there be to talk about, some posters will be bereft! Maybe she'll go back to acting, maybe they'll carry on narrating series on NF, who knows, I don't really care to be honest.

As for skeletons, not sure what you mean. Andrew yes loads. Charles quite probably. Just read an article that 'cash for honours' is rearing its ugly head again.

I’d take most of Harry’s comments on the Netflix series with a pinch of salt.

From what I remember, the NF show indicated Harry had said he would give them up, and then this was leaked.
There was no mention of Charles’ reaction to this.
Just that the RF kept saying they would sort something out? H felt he was being palmed off, then he and M released their half in half out insta post.

So not sure he ever said what KCs reaction was, or how that got dropped. This was obviously all pre ‘Sandringham Summit’.
No mention if it was brought up there IIRC

Harry dropped it that they had offered to give up their titles however I doubt that because 1) they could simply stop using them . No need for a dramatic announcement 2) Both Harry and Meghan have a tenuous relationship with the truth .

@Roussette if they earn money without trading on the Royal family I would be pleased for them . However given that Meghan never really made it as an actress by the time she was late 30s , her chances of being a high earning actress now are slim .

I think you're doing her down. Earning £2million with 168 episodes in a series people watched is not 'making it as an actress'?
Of course she won't be Oscar material now. But still... she did OK.

She'd have never been Oscar material would she, let's face it. But I agree, she'd done well, and had probably achieved a nice level of fame, with a successful career if not A-list. I would have thought her life before meeting Harry was infinitely nicer than afterwards.

Prince Andrew will turn out not to be a blatant paedophile

I think the Coronation will be a massive success.

It’ll also weirdly be the day the family are the most normal because Harry and Meghan will be there and like millions of families they’ll all out on smiley faces for “the big day” and do any bitching later.

I think Andrew and Sarah will remarry and a deal will be struck for Andrew to stay quietly out of the way in return for not being completely financially cut off or asked to leave Royal Lodge (William being around Windsor will rein him in)

Beatrice & Eugenie will announce pregnancies.

Peter Philips will marry again and the press will talk a lot about the fuss around the pics of his first wedding and the sale of them.

Kate will either be too thin or put on weight depending on the publication.

Either Louis or Charlotte will be badged as the feisty or spirited one at every event depending on the publication.

One of the minor royals will do something entirely normal and not remotely dramatic, but it’ll be in the press as an event that “wouldn’t have happened with QEII in charge”.

I'm not sure any of those are "predictions". I think they are all facts.

Royals will continue to do Royal stuff. People who care will care. People who don't care won't.

Yes you do, if your surname isn't Smith or Brown or something obviously British.

If you're a Finnegan, a Lorkova, a Korda, a McKee, a Merkel, a Zahradníková etc, you always get asked where you're really from.

I'm pretty sure Eugenie is already pregnant, so a sibling for August.

They surely won't be doing another foreign tour? They only just got away with the US trip.

Although I've just read an article that says Charles is sending W&K here there and everywhere, possibly India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, NZ.

I get asked all the time where I’m from.
As soon as you see me it’s obvious I’m not English & as soon as you hear my name it’s clear I’m not English.

Doesn’t bother me & I usually preempt it by saying I’m born here but my family is originally from Cyprus. I find most people are interested especially in my name & I don’t find it racist or xenophobic.

I’m sure sometimes it is racist when I’ve been asked but I’m not good at picking up signals so wouldn’t notice.

The BBC will run a much-trailed special featuring Mary Berry about a public competition to create a special recipe for the coronation. Versions of the winning dish will subsequently be available at an extortionate price from Waitrose.

I predict that something game changing will happen in the dynamics between the RF in Britain and M&H. Something game changing that will bring them back into the fold. It's simply a very bad idea to have British royal children growing up estranged, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole family didn't relocate back to the UK and Archie started his schooling in the UK.

That's nice for you. For many people such personal questions can range from sensitive to tricky and it is the hight of rudeness to enquire 'where are you from' unless you are on holiday and know you are talking to fellow tourists. If you are in the workplace or other local setting, wait until people voluntarily tell you where they are from or why they have an unusual name or why their appearance may not immediately match their other cultural or ethnic markers. Focus on what you have in common or what your shared context is, the rest will be revealed if the person wishes and feels comfortable. Anything else is ignorant and unconsciously xenophobic.
