What does Beyoncé mean that Meghan “was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed

And who was Meghan selected by?

Do the royal family suffer from generational curses? What is it?

They’re lizards.

Meghan isn’t a lizard.

I assume it’s that.

Attictroll · 15/12/2022 19:09

It's linked to the concept of generational trauma which I get but not the "selected" probably god bothering angle

Inkanta · 15/12/2022 19:13

The Royal Family is cruel. Nothing has changed since the days they abused our ancestors. It's just done differently now - threats of punishment, gaslighting, triangulation and ostracised. Harry and Meghan have stood their ground and exposed this cruelty and toxicity.

bakalava · 15/12/2022 19:15

I think she meant inter-generational curses aka genetic pain, working on ancestral karma which you can heal via invoking ancestral spirits or through meditation. It is not original among Hollywood types to mention it and wear amulets for self-protection etc. But it may still seem highly unusual to the average Brit. I actually know too much about it!

XanaduKira · 15/12/2022 19:20

That's interesting @bakalava - I've never heard anything like that! Is it race related, or do all families have generational curses?

bakalava · 15/12/2022 19:20

People with mental fragilities like Haitch are susceptible to becoming over influenced by it all especially when it is so new to them, especially the new age side of it with it's expensive woo woo healers. The self-over-valuing hold she maintains over him mainly owes to this as he can afford to splurge like a kid in a candy store and has gone in too fast too deep. He won't be the first.

If the RF believe themselves to be selected by God to be the people everyone bows and scrapes to, I suppose it's no more weird for others to think God selected someone else to help the RF in whatever way, be it break generational curses or something else.😆I have to say sites like MN are the only places I read these things because I don't have the patience to follow the news or social media. It does get me going down rabbit holes sometimes. 😅

Yes, like @XanaduKira , I’d like to know more about that. What do all of Hollywood know that we don’t?!

Harry and Meghan are not the first to stand their ground and expose the royal family’s cruelty. There are a few cautionary tales about what happens to people who stand up to the royal family: Princess Diana and also the Duleep Singh royal family.

I hope that Meghan and Harry will be ok. I also understood the point Harry made that when the media realised that the palace would not protect his wife that it was a wake up call that she was being put at risk.

Does that mean God is behind the generational curses?

What is it?

American divorcees marrying into the Royal Family probably. Didn't go all that well the last time either, did it?

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 15/12/2022 19:50

I think she means generation trauma - she’s just been a bit sensationalist but it’s a real thing.

If anyone is really interested in learning about it, have a search on the internet, YouTube, books on…

attachment style/trauma
Dr Peter Levine
Dr Bessel Van der Kolk
Dr Gabor Maté
Dr Shefali Tsabary on conscious parenting
Etc

the information really is readily available and it’s not woo at all - it’s psychology. It’s just not well known and talked about in the UK yet.

I’d be terrified if someone suggested I had married into and had children in a family with “generational curses”.

It’s a lot of responsibility on Meghan to be responsible for the healing too. Is she qualified to heal generational curses?

Baffling. But I’m interested to know more too.

Haha I have no clue.

I don't think anyone knows what God is really up to.

Hard to see how that would be the case since the divine right of kings (ie god appointed) was ditched before 1700

Ditched by humans.

As @PenanceAdair says, we don’t know what God’s up to. Mysterious is that God figure.

It’s a biblical concept- a generational curse can be anything negative that is passed on until someone breaks the cycle eg like alcoholism in families or an abuse cycle.

Beyonce would most probably be referring to Meghan as being a catalyst for change brought in to disrupt some of the darker/negative aspects of the family - as part of God’s plan for her life and to bring more light into the Royal Family.

This is common parlance and platitudes that give ‘purpose to the suffering’ In evangelical Christianity, which Beyoncé would be familiar with and I assume Meghan is using here to validate some of what she has done/gone through.

Personally, I am not making a comment on its truth.

If Meghan was “selected” by God for the royal family then it’s her willingness to speak up that may have made her selectable. Just as Queen Elizabeth II or Kate may have been selected for their willingness to say nothing. Yin and Yang.

All conjecture.

Yes it comes from the Ten Commandments - Exodus 20v 5

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

When this gets expounded on in church the punishment is explained as implicit rather than explicit - a negative cycle that keeps playing out until broken.
