i have no sympathy for them-they wanted privacy so they said but now just want every bit of publicity they can muster

all that theyve come together fro the funeral bollocks i knew it wouldnt last

LookingAtYou · 02/12/2022 13:08

'Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.'

Oh nonsense. We've had predictions of 'the end' before what with an abdication, scandals, a tragic death and divorces. A reality show on Netflix is just that. A reality show. They'll make the rf more popular tbh as everyone will feel sorry for them having to endure this posing pair.

The royal family really have got the majority of you doffing your little caps haven't they ? Please do continue to moan about the cost of living crisis and inequality in this country though. You will sadly never accept the connection between the royal family and keeping us commoners in our place, because you are too busy taking photos outside their palaces and baking scones to celebrate their milestones. How very sad for you.

There's more wealth sat in Parliament right now than the Royal Family have put together. It's hardly like the royals/Queen/King are the ones sat there making the decisions that have put this country in the mess it's now in.

User1437957 · 02/12/2022 13:08

The comment section on YouTube is hilarious for the trailer . 😅😅

DozyFox · 02/12/2022 13:09

@Roussette of course they CAN do what they want. I can also think what I want. Besides, I'm not judging them for the size of their house - I'm judging Harry's tone deaf winging.

Serenster · 02/12/2022 13:11

Not sure whether Harry and Meghan signed it off or if Netflix are just shit-stirring a bit on their own accord, but the trailer is definitely telling a particular story.

The fact that Prince Andrew has been carefully cropped out of the image used by Netflix suggests some input by the Sussexes, at least.

And also - something that was not immediately obvious at first sight - this shot is not from the Sussexes final Commonwealth Day service in 2020 (the one where it was the culmination of the Sussexes farewell tour, and the Cambridges pulled out of the procession into the Abbey at the last minute to mollify angry Meghan and Harry, and the Cambridges were then accused of cold-shouldering the couple. Meghan was wearing a green caped dress and hat at that service).

This photo is from the year before, 2019, before there were any known rifts in the family, long before South Africa and Megxit. I guess they couldn’t find any suitably malevolent photos of Kate from the 2020 service though. So yeah, there’s definitely a particular narrative being pushed here.

Awful. It’s done and dusted.

They’re married ( lovely Royal wedding), have kids, living their lives in the States. The stakes aren’t high and never were. It’s all fine aside from them making, literally, a big drama of everything.

And if the USA is a preview of how much "better" our manky little nation would be if we overthrew the Monarchy and replaced it with a republic that puts fake-haired racists with a tenuous grip on truth in charge - I'll keep the Royals, thanks.

Does anyone else think MM and lots of her US fans thought she'd be doing the Lily Collins role from Emily In Paris - in other words, shaking up the Royal Family and showing them how to do things in a proper US manner?
It's not a surprise to me as someone who grew up here that the Royals are part of a hidebound British Establishment that is highly resistant to change

I take it your "here" is USA.

If you had grown up in UK you'd be very aware that both UK politics, and the Royal family, far from being "hidebound" have changed a great deal since Elizabeth became Queen.

Princes Philip, Charles and now William have led many of those changes.

PomRuns · 02/12/2022 13:16

These high stakes are puzzling. What on earth are they going on about?
They just need to live their lives well.

The more they talk, the less sympathy they will receive.

CrackingcheeseWallace · 02/12/2022 13:18

eurgh. That pair are nauseating. It's all about $$$$$$.

Deep down, do any of us REALLY care about H&M? In the grander scheme of things, I've got more important things to worry about but why the incessant need to go public and air the dirty laundry all the time?! Oprah, podcasts, books, Neflix series...good grief; go and live your lives and move on from those 2 years!

They have a perfect life; they are the perfect couple who have been blessed with beautiful children. Why can't they just leave it alone...ah yes but it's all about $$$$ isn't it. Awful narcissists.

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 13:19

Oh my goodness, thanks so much to the posters who directed me to the Netflix trailer comments. They are just comedy gold, I’ve tears rolling down my face.

Back to reading more !

Sorry I should have been clearer - I am English and grew up here. I am constantly frustrated by the slow progress of any sensible constitution reforms - however I see the Royals as a largely irrelevant sideshow - they should exist in any sane view of a modern democracy - but I don't think they really do a lot of harm, except in reinforcing the idea that tradition will prevail in the UK.
My point was that it seems to me that MM expected to single-handedly shake up the Royal Family and become the star of the show - I probably didn't express it that well.

LindorDoubleChoc · 02/12/2022 13:23

I have literally only just clocked that this is a SERIES rather than just a one-off documentary.

Oh boy! how much padding? I can't imagine!

The Overton window has shifted, though, with an orchestrated attack on them that they don't know how to respond to.

As a Seinfeld fan, I’m sure that the Sussex’s are celebrating festivus. They are currently engaging in ‘the airing of grievances’ and next Harry will try to wrestle William 🤣 into submission to bring festivus to a close.

Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣🤣

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 01/12/2022 19:21

Said it earlier but stands repeating…

because H&M will have had nothing to do with the trailer. It’s cut by the Netflix in-house promo team. They will always go for a contentious, noisy trailer and it’s certainly worked.

Just because that’s in the trailer, doesn’t mean it’s in the series (which I think will actually be less navel gazing and more forward looking. Episode 1 may deal with ‘leaving’ but the following will be a high end reality show / obs doc.

Do netflix do " high end" reality shows?😆

Jux · 02/12/2022 13:36

I'm not so much of a Royalist, but I understand their role and so do most of them, most of them obviously, as H&M clearly don't.

W&K do try to make the world a better place, hence W's award giving thing that H is trying to upstage. H&M? Not so much. They're only into feathering their own nest. Nasty opportunistic pair with nothing much they're prepared to give in exchange for what they think they ought to be receiving. I'm with the poster who said she wished they'd just go away.

Today, I'm in a foul mood anyway so I am hoping they die alone, lonely, despised, reviled and in poverty. Usually, I'm not that mean.

lightisnotwhite · 02/12/2022 13:36

Well hopefully they will become the “couple from Netflix” rather than be remembered for their roles as Royals.
We can all watch the kids grow up as Americans and Harry cook his special chicken dish before they head off to a charity premiere somewhere glitzy.

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 13:37

read the Netflix comments, it will cheer you right up

I doubt it - they're not the most credible of attackers.

It's one thing to unite around getting rid of something (e.g. Brexit) but far more difficult to agree what should replace it. It usually takes an unsuccessful war (for European royalty)

SirChenjins · 02/12/2022 13:40

@Jux honestly - read the Netflix comments. They will restore your faith in humanity and give you a good chortle Grin

WeWereInParis · 02/12/2022 13:42

I hope, once the series has aired, Netflix bring all the royals together for a "reunion" episode, in a similar vein to Selling Sunset.

Housewives of Windsor. Lol. One settee is going to be much more packed than the other. Who would move onto H&Ms settee? The York sisters?
