@pigonalipstick technically yes, but think of the many, many pics that are out there of the four of them together in happier times, yet this one is chosen. The staging of the shot - Catherine staring angrily into the camera immediately followed by Meghan's direct, almost challenging portrait whilst dressed in mourning black - does tell a clear story; it's C vs M. I wish it was just as simple as a pic of all four of them. These things are chosen carefully to create a narrative.

H&M would have had sign off on this trailer, without doubt.

Yes, the editing is quite interesting.
First several pictures of Harry and Meghan laughing together, seemingly happy and in love.

Than the voice over „No one sees what’s going on behind closed doors“ and a picture of Meghan where it looks like she might be crying, followed by a shot where one’s gaze is immediately drawn to Catherine‘s stern face.

On the first glance I didn’t even notice that Meghan was sitting behind her, looking in the same direction. This one and the following shot look more like Catherine is surrounded by the royal family versus Meghan standing there all by herself.

Not sure whether Harry and Meghan signed it off or if Netflix are just shit-stirring a bit on their own accord, but the trailer is definitely telling a particular story.

The Harry/guitar shots give me strong 'guy at a party who can only play Wonderwall' vibes.

Also, I wish I looked as good as Kate does in a 'bad' photo, rather than like a troll/thumb with shit hair.

Yes they are beyond parodies with their posed monochrome shots.

Imagine if someone released a fly on the wall about the rf and used one shot of MM in the trailer with a serious expression on her face, with the subtext that she was a pita, the Sussexes would be fuming!

They can dish out the scrutiny, the one sided tales yet get so annoyed when it is done to them.

I think Netflix have stitched them up in exactly the same way as Allison P. Davis' interview in 'The Cut' and they're too self absorbed to see it.

I had a similar thought @HaveYouSeenNancy

The trailer is excruciatingly bad but also very funny. It did leave me wondering whether Netflix are actually taking the piss given that self-awareness is neither Harry nor Meghan's strong point.

So did I, but then there is the link between Liz Garbus and the Kennedy award that H&M were awarded for 'standing against the institutional racism of the RF'.

I suppose they just come across differently in the USA...

The royal family really have got the majority of you doffing your little caps haven't they ? Please do continue to moan about the cost of living crisis and inequality in this country though. You will sadly never accept the connection between the royal family and keeping us commoners in our place, because you are too busy taking photos outside their palaces and baking scones to celebrate their milestones. How very sad for you.

nailvarheaven · 02/12/2022 12:56

They are a racist institution and Meghan deserves to have that story told.

Sigma33 · 02/12/2022 12:57

Something like this www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m000jykc/inside-monaco-playground-of-the-rich

Where I was never quite sure if the narrator was taking the p**s 😁

the princess of the 'Two Slices' was particularly good (Two Sicilies - still using the title although the royal family stopped reigning in 1860!)

Then tell it, directly, instead of coy hints but no facts

Wrong quote - it was meant to be the one below

vera99 · 02/12/2022 12:59

When the late Queen was alive the centre just about held but with her gone it's looking like chaos reigns. Look how quickly Charles threw his mum's favorite courtier of 60 years under a bus for her indiscretions. There will be numerous unknown bombs waiting to explode under the RF in the years to come and they are behind the curve, looking hapless, outdated and increasingly irrelevant and if it's go woke or go broke it's a game they don't know how to play and cannot win. Globally at least Netflix's account is becoming the perceived truth for better or worse and "The Crown" is setting the agenda for The Fall of the House of Windsor.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Charlize43 · 02/12/2022 13:01

Out of respect for Meghan & Harry's privacy, people should refuse to watch it.

No, not a royalist. Have never been part of the crowd at a royal event, and think the whole institution is bizarre and out dated.

What does amuse me is H&M's insistence on - rather than rejection of - their titles, that they still 'serve', that not being HRH doesn't stop them being 'royal'

That they have any expectation to be listened to on important matter - e.g. the environment - that doesn't come from their connection to the RF

Tulipomania · 02/12/2022 13:02

The deal with Netflix must have included editorial control, including the trailer.

If it didn't, they are even more stupid and naive than I thought.

How many people have all their lives recorded by a professional photographer? For a z-list actress it was an Oscar winning performance.

Thanks to the poster who mentioned the YouTube comments. They are hilarious.

Seconded, the Youtube comments have cheered me right up today.

Agree

BixAndMix · 02/12/2022 13:04

Regarding the image in the church, I think The princess of Wales looks phenomenal and lovely not like an evil b* as someone else has suggested. She does look sad and hurt but not hostile, trying to remain composed. Meghan on the other hand looks like trouble, especially in the image with the hat in the next frame. I might watch but think it will be rubbish.

Readinginthesun · 01/12/2022 14:19

After this series and the book can there be anything else left to say ?
Surely it will be time to move on ?

Hopefully not but I wouldn't count on it. Their 'books' should start with Once upon a time.

LookingAtYou · 02/12/2022 13:04

They just come across as a paid or egotistical bullies. Why isn't anyone telling them this? Surely her dm would be saying look you've had your say repeatedly!! Fgs time to let it go.

You do realise that recognising that racism exists in the Royal Family and thinking Harry & Meghan should not have made this video are not mutually exclusive?

Almost certainly staged, like everything else, fake plastic lives, self promotion, all to elevate themselves

all to elevate themselves

All for the money you mean

I know. How awful to have been forced to allow cameras into your private life, especially when you are most vulnerable / are staging moments of vulnerability. They have been cruelly expolited.

shadypines · 02/12/2022 13:07

Seriously, the pair of them, esp Harry has had the opportunity to meet the meet the most poor/underprivileged people and places on Royal duties.
It's about time they had some self awareness and stopped being tone deaf. They are healthy (as far as we know) mega rich and have 2 lovely children, so a lot to be thankful for.
It's about time they stopped the whining and sly slurs of other people, I mean ,that still of Kate, are we supposed to liken her to Cruella deVil ??
