The royal family

The Norwegian Royal family seem to have gotten it right

Princess Martha retains her princess title, but will step back from Royal duties, she will not use her Princess title or mention the Royal Family in any of their commercial endeavours or social media.

Her husband-to-be will not be given a title.

It seems a very dignified and appropriate agreement from all the parties involved.

Maybe a similar agreement for the UK royals could bring back some semblance of decorum to the train wreck that it has become, with the RF burying their head and hoping it will all go away, and PH and MM promoting their royal connections and titles for financial gain.

And then you ardently claim that there are other justifiable reasons other than race for this dislike and commentary.

Out of interest, what do you know about Durek Verrett, Marulatree? Other than his skin colour, I mean.

And, extending this line of reasoning further, why on earth do you imagine that the commentary on this thread revolves around race when you are the only one to have mentioned it?

Marulatree · 09/11/2022 14:15

@Readinginthesun And yet a few comments on one thread (which could not be considered ‘extensive’) do not rival the dozens of threads with intense focus on another interracial royal couple.

No reference to skin colour? Racism and racial prejudice is not limited to overt references to the colour of a person's skin. Even MN has guidelines for that protection, as most posters will know.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/11/2022 14:20

"dubious character"? This is a man who believes cancer is a choice and covid can be cured with a necklace (which conveniently) he sells. The princess claims she can talk to angels and lost her honorific “Her Royal Highness” title in 2002 when she chose to work as a clairvoyant.

MaulPerton · 09/11/2022 14:28

So how do you know they are occurring? I only ask because my own reasons for being critical of H & M are not based on race and I don't appreciate being told otherwise by someone who is not me and yet who seems to believe that they know my own mind, motivations and intentions better than I do.

Is there not a Bill going through Parliament to make it easier to remove titles?
I agree with your comments OP and thought the king’s statement was interesting.

No, I don't think there is.

There have been reports of discussions on changes to who will be Counsellor of State, but nothing about titles.

Readinginthesun · 09/11/2022 14:43

Think this might be it .

Exactly @MaulPerton

Another derailing to try to turn the narrative to racism.

None of Princess Martha's children have Royal titles, and she herself gave up her HRH title.

I think the British Royal family need to look at this as an example of how it could be done, for non working Royals who want to pursue their own careers outside the RF.

Wow. That's left field even by David Icke's standards! I know nothing about the race of Shaman Durex, personally. To me, he is an American. Period.

StartupRepair · 09/11/2022 20:23

A few years ago they did a ticketed speaking tour, called the Princess and the Shaman. Seems the Norwegians were not impressed by her use of the title then.

Roussette · 09/11/2022 22:13

People are so hung up on titles. I think they are pretty irrelevant.

Look at Mike Tindall and Zara. No titles yet worth about £45million, with a massive income stream due to collaborations and sponsorships with luxury and high end companies... Rolex, Land Rover, etc

You can't tell me it would be the same if they were just Zara and Mike living on a farm in rural Gloucestershire. It's because she is part of the royal family that all these doors open. Yes, MT is a successful sportsman and that would've created SOME opportunities, but nothing like the royal cache providing what they have now.

I missed off a letter, how bad am I.

Thanks for pointing it out, much appreciated.
Won't happen again lol

He has am sure faced racism. It's impossible not to especially with a white princes as a partner. But that does not reduce my suspicion of him and am black. My suspicion is not about why he has partnered with her or anyone but his character as a whole but it's really just a difference of beliefs so may be am a bigot because unlike him:
I don't believe cancer is a choice and his talk that chemotherapy doesn't work is dangerous I don't believe a medallion (£200 no less) will protect people from COVID I am suspicious of a man who reports his wife to immigration to get her deported during their divorce (if she was contravening the law why not report her while they were together or better still help her) When 3 partners (male and female) claim you were very controlling of every aspect of their lives I feel that is a pattern to pay attention to I think his talk of taking off imprints of former partners off women's vaginas is misogynistic and dangerous (why not off men's penises I think he is not a reincarnated Pharaoh (while at the same time being from a line of West Indian and Norwegian shamans including a fake Croatian princess)
I am suspicious of people who call themselves reptilian but again this is just a difference of opinion and I grant him that

So no, even if he showed up to date my black sister I would be suspicious of him. Not because he is a black man in a white royal house. That is a different story

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 10/11/2022 02:26

I can't take anyone seriously, who writes 'gotten' and 'Royal Family' in the same sentence.

What an unsavoury character.

Indeed yet the racism accusation was made 🤷‍♀️

Both are true. You can be unsavoury and still face racism and its still wrong.

Indeed. Or Foxnews commentator.

I understand one of his books was cancelled by publisher (after public outcry?) because the claims were so wild. To be fair, I think Martha had her own beliefs before meeting him so they are of a kind.

They do make a handsome couple. He is good looking with interesting heritage spanning the Carribbean, India, Norway and one other I can't recall. Their kids would be stunning 😂😂😂

MaulPerton · 11/11/2022 07:54

Well, yes, unless the two are conflated erroneously.

A discussion about two people who happen to be of different ethnicities seems to sometimes trigger accusations of racism (although only when that discussion produces negative sentiment. When it's a positive sentiment about the couple, no accusations of racism are forthcoming).

Novella4 · 11/11/2022 09:17

No 'royal ' family gets it right - unless it is to abolish themselves and ludicrous made up titles .

@halfsiesonapotnoodle - what is your problem with 'gotten'? Gotten was the original past participle - mainly dropped in the uk now but not incorrect .
Is it because you think it indicates the writer is American ?
Lol I too have spent hours arguing about the uselessness ( and worse ) of the UK royals only to find the 'royalists' are neither in the Uk nor citizens .
It would help if posters made it clear every so often that it's all theoretical for them . Some do .
The rest of us risk arrest for silently holding up a sign ....

From what I read he has been “ imaginative” about his heritage .
His birth name is Derek but he changed it to the more unusual Duruk.

I was reading an article by Andrew Neil at the weekend in the DM that started with "Crime, inflation and recession are the three issues uppermost in American minds as the country votes in its midterm elections this Tuesday". Looks like the people of the US are battling the same issues as the people of UK. What's the point of changing anything if we only end up in the same place? Every country has its hereditary families at the top of the social hierarchy - the Kennedy family are still feeding off their heredity and the spoils accumulated through less than legitimate means, as do the socially prominent families elsewhere, whether royal or not. If you view the world through only one lens, you miss everything else that is going on around you. Republicanism needs to pull something really profound out of the bag in order to convince people to change systems.
