Unpopular Opinion - William and Kate

1000 replies

EdaYildiz · 13/10/2022 21:27

Don't come at me, I'm sharing my unpopular opinion because I want to know what you all think but just don't see a spark between William & Kate.

Loved them since the day they starting dating way back when they were undergrads at St Andrews but I just don't see their connection in pictures and it seems a little forced when she has her hand on his back or when they do hold hands.

I don't expect them to hold hands and snog because I know they're mostly photographed whilst they're working but he looks bored and she looks like she's trying her best.

Does anyone agree with me?

Is it any wonder William and Kate were branded the do littles? where have they been for the past two weeks? Sophie with a school aged child has been out and about working, putting in the effort - what's their excuse?

I find them so incredibly lazy.

pilates · 02/11/2022 06:53

“Sophie with a school aged child has been out and about working, putting in the effort - what's their excuse?“
Her daughter Louise is 19 and at university isn’t she and son James is 15? 🤨

Wasn't W photographed attending some event just very recently looking particularly debonaire?

What a silly comparison. Sophie has one school going child who is well into his teens.

Kate has two children in primary school and a pre schooler.

Kate is the same age as Diana was when she died now - it's very easy to see who blazed a trail and left an impression on the world and who hasn't. If the job application was to be dull as possible then she excels at that.

Yes, he was.

I hadn't clocked that!
We still have lots of articles about how Kate and William are now going to really step up and increase their workload.

@vera99

Happily, your views aren't shared by the UK public - the overwhelming majority of whom approve of Kate and William and value the dignity with which they carry out their roles.

Diana was undoubtedly well-intentioned with many positive qualities, but she often 'blazed a trail' for less salubrious reasons. You may find dignified behaviour 'dull' but most of us don't set our standards by Heat magazine.

That’s rather unpleasant about Diana isn’t it?

Funny how there is suddenly so much negative rhetoric about her now PC is King! Where is it all coming from I wonder?

I was almost the same age as her. No one is saying she was a saint, but she happened to be very good at her job. She was energetic, intuitive and had great charisma. And as someone said on another thread, she is a very easy target now she can no longer answer back.

Also, unlike some other members of the RF, she managed to shake hands and speak to others as though they weren’t her underlings!

If dignity means refusing to shake hands, having people curtesy to you, only speak to you when you have addressed them first, refusing to even taste any of the drinks or food that people have spent hours preparing, then I would prefer to be undignified thanks!

And Diana chose unpopular causes like aids and homelessness which the RF traditionally saw as “unsuitable”.

Kate is 40, Diana was 36 when she died. Gets your facts right.

Morestrangethings · 02/11/2022 12:07

I agree Hoovesandpaws

Despite all her troubled times, Diana achieved a lot in her short life.

Diana brought attention to the horror of land mines.

She held the patients with AIDS at a time when people were ostracising them - fearful of catching AIDS just by touching. Diana’s simple gesture dialled down the fear many people had, in many countries around the world.

Her reach was long. Across countries, across continents.

The anti-Diana stuff is a pr campaign prior to the showing of the latest The Crown. It will remind people how Charles and Camilla behaved, so the or is trying to create a climate where people are anti-Diana and so discount Charles and Camilla's behaviour.

Diana was only 20 when she become POW. When she came on the scene, the RF was not popular. She championed many groundbreaking charitable causes, not ever attempted by anyone else. She had had no support from her husband, nor his family. In fact, they were all jealous of her and now they would be happy to airbrush her out of history. Good luck with that.

Hoovesandpaws77 · 02/11/2022 13:23

Oh I see antelopevalley. Charles’s PR people discredited Diana before (while boosting up
Camilla’s image) so very plausible that they would do it again.

Well said Vera99

Yes how awful to be a happily married wife and mother, who keeps her public and private lives separate.

pilates · 02/11/2022 17:01

Some people do not need to lead their lives like an episode of Eastenders. Or write gossipy books or enjoy appearing on chat shows.

Agree
She championed those with HIV. This was groundbreaking at the time .
She took on many unpopular causes and brought attention and raised funds
She was by no means perfect and had been scarred by previous experiences.
However, one cannot deny the fact that she made a difference and was a trailblazer.

I find them so incredibly lazy.

The DM who have practically bestowed sainthood on Catherine are the same DM who previously referred to her as ‘Duchess Doolittle’ and accused her of being ‘workshy’
To be fair to Catherine she has really upped her game . However, I always feel that she is going through the motions. There seems to be a lack of real passion about the causes she supports.
I may be wrong, but that is just the impression I get

Morestrangethings · 02/11/2022 20:49

The Queen's "private wealth" purchased Gatcombe. Well imagine that. She didn't get it from working down the mines anyway. Anyone know how she amassed such vast funds?

oh no, we can’t talk about that. No mention to be made that the British Monarchy, in cahoots with the British govt and also often The East India Co (backed by armed soldiers, sailors of the Crown) and often the very Church of England itself, invaded/colonised other countries and took what was not theirs - often deliberately trying to destroy the cultures of the countries they invaded, and the very lives of the original owners of those countries.

Also, not to mention the capture , transportation and enslavement of other peoples - they made a bit of dosh out of that abomination too. If they couldn’t see an opportunity, they made them. And then announced themselves Emperors of all they surveyed. Called Britain - the British Empire on which the sun never set - as though that was something to be proud of. Murderous thieves, basically. And now the descendants, current members of British Monarchy, live of the proceeds of that stolen wealth.

All that sadness, bloodshed, cultural dislocation, and the British Monarchy living in their castles and palaces and rich houses, surrounded by purloined wealth stand as symbols of it. A Royal Family to be proud of - because of what exactly? They do a bit of charity now and then - on the dime of the British public. What a rort.

No, you can't say that inconvenient truth, all is good in the House of Saxe-Coburg Windsor, in this the best possible of all worlds. God Save the (adulterous) Head of the Church of England, King!

Was there ever one that wasn’t adulterous? George V and VI are the only comes that come to mind! 🤣

The late Queen was undisputably a paragon of virtue in that department. It is long overdue for the Church of England (for which I have a lot of admiration as a body) to disestablish itself from the monarchy and it's perverted roots born from Henry's 8th desire for a perpetual divorce.
