Mike Tindall - I'm a Celebrity

Rumours circulating that he's signed up for the next series of I'm a Celebrity.
I know he and Zara have to make their own money but I find this tasteless and tacky.
Puts me in mind of the Royal It's a Knockout.
Surely they can't be that desperate for cash?

On past form, I'm a Celebrity can either turbocharge (see Mylene Klass) or damage careers.

Genuinely nice and charismatic celebs invariably come out of it looking great. Those with toxic, moany or desperate traits are exposed.

I suspect Mike Tindall will only benefit from this appearance. He seems like a decent bloke. He and his wife don't have titles and don't try to cash in on their royal connections. They are casual and classy and wear their connections lightly.

Agree about Hancock - I'd tune in to see what he does, too! He's essentially got nothing left to lose so it's well worth his while giving it a shot.

JustLyra · 01/11/2022 12:53

I really think something needs to be done about serving MPs entering Celeb.

It’s ridiculously inappropriate that they are uncontactable for potentially multiple weeks leaving their constituents unrepresented. Especially atm when everything is so unsettled.

It’s interesting that Hancock has been suspended though. Dorries lost the whip, but wasn’t suspended. Same with Kezia Dugdale.

They - like Peter - milk their status so hard it's a wonder their hands don't fall off.

It's neither classy nor cool to take on a £100K role involving six 'engagements' per year then lie about it and it's also not classy or cool for a man who's a millionaire several times over to have claimed furlough for his staff.

The issue for me is that he is now part of the Royal Family and as such is representing them. Having or not having a title is irrelevant - it's just not the sort of behaviour I would expect from someone in his position.

It's not the first of thee type of shows he's done iirr. Sure I read he'd done another previously.

And it's not the first time the royals have appeared in TV shows such as these. Royal knockout thing - that was years ago.

Would you prefer them to,earn their own money, even if it means 'milking' their status, or have the public purse fund their lives?

If we want the extended royal family to fund themselves they should be allowed to decide how they do that.

userxx · 01/11/2022 20:48

It's the first time in about 5 years I'm going to tune in. Mike Tindall is one of the reasons.

CathyorClaire · 01/11/2022 21:23

They're already worth multiple millions. No real need for them to do either ever.

CathyorClaire · 01/11/2022 21:31

Mike Tindall is one of the reasons

A venal royal chucked into the usual mix of charlatans and chancers just to spoil us.

I'll be glued ...

CathyorClaire · 01/11/2022 21:44

And in addition to said very comfortable millions they also live on Zara's mummy's gifted and gilded estate.

I agree.

Plenty of people have restrictive covenants in their employment contracts, so there should be something similar for MPs to ensure they don't do this kind of thing & go awol on their constituents. It definitely shouldn't be allowed!

This is the funniest thing I’ve read here for awhile. That people genuinely believe that truly is laughable. Tindal is a gross cretin and his conduct in New Zealand, and that of his deplorable team mates was disgraceful. Of course he’s milking his connection, but he and a bunch of others somehow escape the scrutiny that everyone puts Harry & Meghan under. It’s all ridiculous.

Me too. I think he’s a decent guy. They aren’t on the civil list and aren’t working Royals. He’s a respected ex rugby player. More interesting than some of the other nonentities on the programme.

WahineToa · 02/11/2022 09:56

Mike Tindall is mentioned in the adverts for I'm a Celebrity very much as part of the Royal Family. I would be embarrassed in his shoes. It is a show for people well past the peak of their career who need to make a bit of money, or people who are not well known and hoping to give their career a boost. I wonder which one he is?

Well it’s not money is it?

Can you imagine if Meghan appeared on this show and the advert explained she was an actor and then a member of the Royal Family - with a cut to of Meghan at a Royal Family public occasion? This is what the show's advert did with Mike Tindall.

WahineToa · 02/11/2022 10:02

Oh I can imagine. Can you also imagine if Meghan went to represent her country in a sporting event, attended a ‘dwarf throwing’ competition during said tournament, joined her team mates in getting absolutely shit faced drunk causing damage and issues all over the show and then got caught kissing her previous boyfriend before she married Harry? Just fucking imagine. Let’s throw in two drink driving offences too. I mean just fucking imagine it.

Holidayexpert · 02/11/2022 10:15

Tindall is an absolute arsehole! Never fails to mention his royal connections, as if that’s actually something to be proud of😌
A cheat as well, by all accounts!

WahineToa · 02/11/2022 10:16

Oh definitely an absolute cheating wanker. He got caught red handed! On his ex!

CathyorClaire · 02/11/2022 10:26

I agree.

The Tindalls (along with the equally ghastly, grasping Peter) have somehow managed to convince an admiring audience they're down to earth grafters when even a cursory scrutiny of their activities proves otherwise.

Harry and Meghan must be gnashing their teeth at how they slip under the radar time and time again.

WahineToa · 02/11/2022 10:32

They don’t simply fall under the radar, the senior royals make sure they have people to throw under the bus while protecting others. It’s always worked that way. ‘Palace sources’ are just their staff who they instruct to give the media a villain while they protect everyone else. Diana, Fergie & Meghan have all been the villains while so many of the men get away with being mooches, cheats, drunks and sex abusers.

susan12345678 · 02/11/2022 10:48

They'll be gnashing their teeth even more when the appearance turns out to be a massive PR triumph for Mike.

People dislike Harry and Meghan because they are massive hypocrites, introducing themselves by their titles, and flying about in private jets while presenting themselves as global humanitarians and environmentalists. They are a laughing stock and people see straight through them.

By the way, are Harry and Meghan splitting up? Has Harry cheated?

There are rumors all over Twitter today

Meghan doesn't have the talent to represent her country at any event

The more royals behaving badly and hastening the end of the institution the better as far as I'm concerned. Not fussed which ones they are.

By the way, are Harry and Meghan splitting up? Has Harry cheated?

😮

Any reputable sources reporting this?

Oh please. You’re all the same people who went for Fergie, Diana and Camilla at some point. You hate who the media tell you to. All of that crap doesn’t mean anything to you or you’d hate all the royals and their hypocrisy.
