Such a shame that Sophie’s visit to the DRC isn’t receiving the coverage it deserves .

DD met her at a function she was working at for the D of E awards. Said she was delightfully normal.

I was watching a documentary about Anne At 70 yesterday and she was doing five engagements a day, she said something that I think is relevant, that the media coverage is very focused on the “young pretty” members of the family, and she didn’t like that when it was aimed at her, she thought it was a lot of pressure. So perhaps they don’t want much coverage for their work. I get the impression Anne takes her role as ‘to serve the people’ very seriously and wonder if that’s what Sophie is doing as she’s settled into her role over the last 20 years (along with being a very hands-on mum).

God that sounds like I don’t think Sophie is pretty, for the record I think she’s stunning.

Lots of papers have covered her visit. But the public are not that interested.

Any if they didn't bother and ignored their historical associations you'd be whinging about that too. It's history, every one for bad shit, no one's hands are clean. Time to move on.

I am loving the dresses that Sophie is wearing . She is in Botswana today and looks stunning.

She looks fine. It is a nice summer dress. But not stunning.

I adore Sophie. There was a gorgeous photo of her a while ago giving affection to and receiving a cuddle from a blind horse at a rescue centre, Animals sense who is trustworthy.

I personally don't like her shoes with this dress either.

antelopevalley. I take your point. She appears (to me) to be a very warm and loyal human being. So many people we see in the press and on tv seem very shallow and self serving - I don't think she is.

The dresses look nice enough on her, nothing out of the ordinary.

Guess the 'talk to, touch, hug and smile' with the black people PR stunt is how it works now.

I saw Sophie on telly a couple of yrs ago or so, with the natives from DRC, she did not look happy or relaxed. She had a cold, distant look and manner to me.

That's a horrible thing to say!
