The royal family

Camilla couldn’t give a fig about being Queen

Viviennethebeautiful · 02/10/2022 22:25

Queen or Queen consort, please let’s not discuss that.

She has great involvement in issues that she’s bothered about like Osteoporosis, children reading, domestic violence.

Her services, at Local and national level, alone or with The King are regular and demanding for a lady of her age.

Her husband loves her. She loves him. She has made him more human

Queen (or whatever, is the last priority for her)

If they are a dysfunctional family, which I think they are, why should they have wealth, and privileges they do? Why should we care about a new baby or a marriage of a dysfunctional family? Where their marriages often do not last, various family members slag off each other in public or tell reporters about their grievances against other family members, and many of them seem to spend little time with their children and live apart even when married.
What is the point of the whole charade?

Rapidtango · 04/10/2022 14:47

'S'not what you said though. And tbh I don't think anyone thinks anyone's marriage/relationship is a fairytale existence. Charles and Camilla seem suited and to actually get on well. Their living arrangements suit them, which is surely all that matters.

Denying the truth of what exactly? Everyone appears to know they don't live together all the time. And why is it anyone's business? It makes no difference to their roles, it's just another stick to beat them with.

Novella4 · 04/10/2022 14:48

@smilesy lol!!!

That's their whole game !
It's old hat now and it's mostly only the elderly who believe it so I guess they'll have to come up with something soon

That seems a bit odd. Plenty of wealthy families are dysfunctional ( Elon Musk for example). Plenty of poor families are dysfunctional. I'm not entirely sure what your point is. You're not being asked to fawn over anyone.

antelopevalley · 04/10/2022 14:52

Of course we are asked to fawn over them. And give them money.

Rapidtango · 04/10/2022 14:53

Nope, never been asked to fawn over any member of the RF. Or anyone else for that matter.

And now the word fawn looks odd.

Novella4 · 04/10/2022 14:55

Do you have a choice @Rapidtango ?

They are taking from you whether you fawn or not .

gogohmm · 04/10/2022 15:00

When I met her she was very interested in the products (country market type setting), I didn't even think she was particularly posh - nice lady.

Rapidtango · 04/10/2022 15:02

Taking from me? At what, a couple of quid a year?

MissMarpleRocks · 04/10/2022 15:02

The happiest couple I know are friends of DH. They live very happily apart & have been married for over 30 years. It works for them. They both say they get the best bits of each other without the mundane. When they go away they both cannot wait to get back to their own homes.

Yeah right .

Try 350 million from a rapidly failing state

Dinoteeth · 04/10/2022 15:13

I work with someone who effectively goes on dates with their ex, go to dinner, pictures, nights out, visiting their adult daughter.
Says they get on great not living together. Which I sort of put down to moans about the normal mundane housework stuff to do with running a house.

But I can hardly imagine C&C moaning over who left the crumbs on the carpets they'd just hoovered.

Dunfermline turned out yesterday to see Charles and Camilla. We don't do fawning in Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon was actually booed.

Novella4 · 04/10/2022 15:23

Yes hey must have kept it quiet . V thin crowd.

He was signing a bill re rent control in Scotland. Charles will ensure his land is excluded from any such law of course

I must be much wealthier than I realised Grin. Must be due to the dysfunctionality of my family.

Roussette · 04/10/2022 15:26

Taking from me? At what, a couple of quid a year?

If only. There is no way of knowing the security costs apart from knowing it will be a horrendous amount to cover Highgrove and C's Wiltshire home

Ohnonevermind · 04/10/2022 15:28

At least the officers are probably able to sleep in their own beds, far worse and much more costly if they had to be based in a foreign country long term.

small mercies

He was conferring city status on Dunfermline. The resting place of many Scottish monarchs as you well know.

Rent control bill ?

Oh dear , your ignorance is embarrassing.

Seriously was Sturgeon boo'd yesterday in Dunfermline?
Am I reading that correctly?

SirChenjins · 04/10/2022 15:52

Yes, it was on the BBC news. The joys of polarised politics in Scotland - politicians from both side of the Indy fence are regularly booed. On this occasion though it may have been the more extremist nationalists booing her for associating with the RF and therefore betraying Scotland - you can never be sure.

Dinoteeth · 04/10/2022 15:57

You almost had me excited that general support for NS / SNP was dropping. Not a big fan of them. Glad I was out voted a few years ago.

Dunfermline Abbey is an amazing place, fascinating.

You post on the RF threads quite a bit so it would seem you care.

Of course we are asked to fawn over them. And give them money.

Literally no one has ever asked you to fawn over them. Ever. 😂 And no one has asked you to give them money, in the same way no one has asked you about giving MPs money. They are all part of the governance of the state and as such they all cost us money.
