Camilla couldn’t give a fig about being Queen

Queen or Queen consort, please let’s not discuss that.

She has great involvement in issues that she’s bothered about like Osteoporosis, children reading, domestic violence.

Her services, at Local and national level, alone or with The King are regular and demanding for a lady of her age.

Her husband loves her. She loves him. She has made him more human

Queen (or whatever, is the last priority for her)

I suspect there will a new royal 'initiative' - a move way from walkabouts
Eggs, #not my king signs etc will continue They'll say it's to modernise - it's really because they don't want booed again

There is nothing 'royal' about walkabours - it was brought in when royal support was low and they needed to show them around . The charity link is part of that . We know they add nothing to the charity -but it helps royal PR and makes them look like they do something .

To me,
a need for constant displays of affection in public suggests an insecurity and a need to make things obvious in case of doubt. Those who are truly secure in their relationship don’t grab and stroke each other constantly. Especially when they are older and have been married before.

Tell that to the Macrons, Obamas, Bidens etc. Not seeing any divorce on the horizon, and have not even heard any rumours of such.

The Washington POST is one of the most respected papers in the US.

Its like saying you don’t read the SUNday times newspaper as it’s got sun in the title and you don’t like the sun tabloid 🤯

antelopevalley · 10/11/2022 10:36

Lots of cultures are far more demonstrative than the English. Judging other cultures by English norms is also a very English thing to do.

Serenster · 10/11/2022 11:24

Judging other cultures by English your own culture’s norms is also a very English human thing to do.

Fixed that for you, antelopevalley.

I’ll try to educate you, have you heard of watergate ? The Washington post broke the story. It’s a ‘newspaper of record’ in the states, I’ve a digital subscription, it’s not expensive and recommend it

look at the awards it has gotten over the years. Do you really think it’s a tabloid ? That because it has ‘post’ in the title it’s the same as the New York Post

notanotheroneagain · 10/11/2022 12:44

Seriously, there is no point in you lecturing me about the Washington Post.

I may have seen some articles that will raise my eyebrow here and there. It really does not mean anything.
I never said they were a tabloid.
As for you quoting some old story they had, it's like me telling you how 'The Times' are great - except they recently pulled out a story about Carry Johnson, just because the editor is running mates with Boris. The 'Telegraph' also pulled out a negative story about KM. Both broadsheets. Both would have been the paragons of truth ages ago.

See how this works!

Ohnonevermind · 10/11/2022 12:55

And that whataboutery has nothing to do with the Washington post,
(who thinks that Harry and Meghan have to move beyond victimhood or they will be forever trapped)

Diana dying in such a tragic way has thrown a shadow over Charles & Camilla.

That and the tampon thing. Probably more the tampon thing.

I think she will be more popular than her husband, just as his last wife was.

I think you might be right. These royal men seem to rely quite a bit on the popularity of their wives, imo.

If Camilla was a regular woman who posted on Mumsnet and described how she got together with her current husband, she'd be absolutely torn to shreds. Yet, here we are, the plebs fawning all over her. It's rather nauseating.

THAT post on mn would go down like a ton of bricks.

Totally normal to live apart !
Just as it's totally normal to have affairs !
You serfs wouldn't understand

just royal things

Yes, we hold ourselves to the standards they set for us.

I feel for staunch republicans at the moment. They spent years saying loudly “Everything will change when the Queen dies, no one will want Charles as King”. And then the Queen dies, and Charles becomes King and actually people across the country are happy with that - engaged even - and the republicans have totally missed their big moment. I’m sure it will come again! Such is the nature of things. But for now there seems to be a lot of frustrations being taken out on threads like this.

Yeah, I don’t think republicans are silly enough to choose that point in time - the death of the Queen - to push discussion about a republic. There would have been kick back, even from fellow republicans. People needed time to mourn the Queen. This was well recognised.

I do believe as the coronation comes closer we are going to see more discussion about a republic. I think it may well be a hot topic.

antelopevalley · 17/11/2022 00:05

Charles has been very low-key as a King so far and there have been bigger issues to worry about. It is still very early days.

antelopevalley · 17/11/2022 00:06

Morestrangethings · 16/11/2022 22:57

I disagree. Camilla knows she has to be low key and not outshine Charles. She will stay in the background.

Goodread1 · 06/05/2023 20:03

Interesting aspects to Camilla his wife ,
I think this was allways a love match really...

It's just a real shame it was so messy and nasty the divorce was etc...

Perhaps they are soulmates? Perhaps they share a sense of humour and an
empathy? Or is physical appearance the only reason one person would be attracted to another?

AskMeMore · 07/05/2023 01:57

Camilla is not stupid, She would not have married Charles if she did not want to be Queen.
When you het older you get more sensible. Yes you want to marry someone you love, but you are no longer young enough to be blind to other aspects of a potential marriage.

AskMeMore · 07/05/2023 01:58

And the causes were chosen by a pr firm to help improve Camillas image. She had extremely negative ratings years ago and a pr firm was hired by Charles to improve the publics perception.
