Extracts of this were being discussed on a previous thread ('The Times) which just finished.

I'm interested in buying this book, despite never having ever bought any other book about the Royal Family and never having watched The Crown.

I'm interested however in the archaic rituals of the Royal Court and how it works as an employer, and also how the courtiers advise.

Yes the excerpts were focused on Harry and Meghan but presumably that's just for clicks given the relevant timing, and that the book goes well beyond that.

Poignant that in the synopsis for it on The Foyles website it says:

The Queen, after a remarkable 70 years of service, is entering the final seasons of her reign without her husband Philip to guide her. Meanwhile, Charles seeks to define what his future as King will be, with his court wielding ever greater influence as he plans for his imminent accession.

Anyone else thinking of buying this?

If Diana was still alive what do you think she would feel about the whole situation with her beloved sons ?

I don't think this marriage would have happened if Diana was still alive. Both her children would have turned out differently I think, not just Harry. Not so much damage.

Well, when people click on a link about a book, it's usual to expect them to discuss that book, instead of fantasising over hypothetical photos of complete strangers' 'adorable' kids in an as yet unpublished book.

But never mind. Your lack of response speaks loud and clear.

You could direct that comment to every poster here. But I guess it's reserved for those who write favourably of the couple. I take that as I'm doing something right - and will continue.

Oh but they’re a credit to their parents you say. So how did you come to that conclusion when the public hardly ever (never) sees them?
As long as they all look pretty you’re happy it seems. Let’s hope the book is full of pretty pictures and lovely anecdotes.

Pictures - definitely. Maybe some positive affirmations would also work well.

Diana was a true icon, meghan is an icon in her own mind (and Harry’s) only.

😂

No, I couldn't direct it to other posters here as they are not avoiding the topic of the thread. You are, because it doesn't sit well with your fantasy of life in the chicken coop.

What is employment law like in California.
i hope they’re not bullying their staff there too

They couldn't afford the number and caliber of staff they had while trapped in the palace. Harry probably even has to muck out the chicken coop himself.

@oakleaffy
Terrible to treat people in such a way, especially when they really don’t have a platform or the resources to right the wrong.

Agreed.
Am very happy that the Staff are now given a sturdy platform ( Courtiers book) In which to show how shabby their treatment was.
Not “ Their truth”, but “ The truth”.
It would have been legally checked out before publication.

How a couple can call themselves “ Humanitarian “ while berating hard working staff beats me.

I agree with this too. (In fact I agree with most of what's been said here). It's a shame.

Meghan's 'mentoring' of young women stands out as particularly hypocritical given some of the excerpts from the book.

Their hypocrisy is astounding. But it does tend to be the case, those presenting themselves as perpetual victims, are usually the perpetrators.

That’s very true.. Have thought back on “ Perpetual victims” known to me in the past, and they do indeed cause pain to others.

Isn't he too busy sorting out his pipes to be messing around in the coop?

Ohnonevermind · 29/09/2022 21:33

They do seem rather stuck in their victim mentality. Their brittleness means they keep being dragged back as they don’t have the resilience to move forward.

They thought they’d be Hollywood royalty, running a huge philanthropic outfit money being thrown at them by billionaires and the Democratic Party would be begging Meghan to run for elected office, and she would be nominated for academy awards for her documentaries on ‘Women’. This is probably all on Meghan’s vision board in her office facing her throne

it just hasn’t worked out that way. How bout dem apples

Ooohhh I see what you did there with your ageist little insult - is that all you can stoop to?

Farmageddon · 29/09/2022 21:39

I'm trying to think what smileandjoy's responses remind me of - kind of like a magic eight ball where you ask it loads of different questions, but only ever get one or two set responses - very robotic and strange, all with a creepy smile, a bit like Stepford Wives or something. Weird.

Dinoteeth · 29/09/2022 21:40

Who are the Golden Girls?
Bea & Eugenie ?
