The royal family

Did Harry see the Queen before she passed away?

I don’t mean the day she passed away as I know he sadly didn’t make it to Balmoral on time to be with her.

I’m not sure when he arrived in the UK, but in the days/weeks before she passed, had he seen her? Or was it during her Jubilee?

Who cares

Why bother to post that?
People can be interested in things without caring about them, this website would be very bare if posters were only allowed to post things they care about

I don't know the answer as I'm sure most of us don't but I'm guessing not

They announced that ,’while they were in the UK they had no intention of visiting the Queen”. There was an invitation to Balmoral earlier in the summer which they declined.

I would think that much of the hostility that was apparent at the funeral was due partly to this. Sadly, Harry now has to live with his decisions.

This is actually really sad 😞

yourestandingonmyneck · 21/09/2022 18:22

If this is true, seems a bit short sighted of them not to visit a 96 year old relative. At that age any visit could be the last one.

However I suspect nobody really knows if it's true or not.

Did any of the other grandchildren?

asblindasabat · 21/09/2022 18:36

I’m surprised. I’d have thought they’d have visited her when they came to the UK.

only Princess Ann and Prince Charles got there in time apparently

00100001 · 21/09/2022 18:38

It was announced at 6:30 and he didn't arrive until after that

Did they announce it or did the media announce it on their behalf having no actual clue?

I mean they visited Windsor a few months ago and no one knew.

So it's possible they've the same since?

Lindy2 · 21/09/2022 18:43

Apparently he declined her invitation to visit her. He was still stroppy about having to pay for his own security - although obviously whilst visiting the Queen he would have been pretty safe for free.

I think it was a very regretable.

Ladybyrd · 21/09/2022 18:44

Unless they come on here and answer themselves, you will never know. If they don't have police security, it would be pretty dumb advertising their movements.

All of this conjecture into the inner workings of their minds... I can't even read the minds of my nearest and dearest, let alone people I have never met and will never know. Presumably you have that ability is bizarre to me, but crack on.

Is that just how the royal family works? Formal invitations?

Given that he was her grandson, could he not act like the rest of us and just pop round to granny’s house any time for a cookie and a cup of tea?

Even when the Queen reportedly wrote to Charles and Diana all those years ago to ask them to divorce, I never understood why you would write to your own son and daughter in law. Why not just sit them down at the kitchen table like a family would if there were difficulties

They never made any announcement - all tabloid speculation. Did the other grandchildren see the queen OP? I am surprised only Harry's visit is being questioned . . . .

ElizabethBest · 21/09/2022 18:52

@Farmerazza yes, they were all there in August.

EspeciallyDivided · 21/09/2022 18:53

She was quite busy already that week with the change of PM. Maybe they couldn't get an appointment.

StolenWillowTree · 21/09/2022 18:54

No one saw the Queen before she died, except for Charles, Camilla and Anne who were already there.

Obviously they spent time together during the Jubilee and the Queen met Lili, I don't think Harry visited the UK between his last trip over the summer for the jubilee, and his most recent trip?

Badger1970 · 21/09/2022 18:54

I thought that the other grandchildren all visited this year. Harry chose to decline the invite.

Rapidtango · 21/09/2022 18:56

Farmerazza, William and his family spent time at Balmoral with the Queen over the summer. Edward and Sophie and their children too.

@florentina1

This is bullshit. They didn't announce anything - they came to London and Manchester for a 5 day work trip.

We've got no idea if they were invited to Balmoral to visit the Queen or not - very possibly they were - but given Harry was very fond of his granny, the most likely reason they didn't go is because they didn't have time because of work commitments and needing to get home for the kids. You know - the same stuff that happens to everyone.

I'm no massive H&M fan, but repeating shit like this is just unpleasant.

As did Harry and the Queen met Lili etc Lili had a party this summer here. So they have all spent time with her then . . . .

So despite the fact we know he has seen her at least twice this year? People are just out to write negatively about H+M at any given opportunity

Goingforarun · 21/09/2022 19:12

Please look after yourselves and stop speculating on decisions none of us have a clue about.

Cherryana · 21/09/2022 19:22

When it is not very obvious that death is imminent- I am going to suppose that it’s more common for a grandchild to not see their grandparent just before they die, if they are of working age with a young family.
