Can we talk about tiaras now? Do you think that Queen Camilla will ever wear the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland? It's so iconic I just can't picture her doing so.

Ok, side note: I learned when googling the above tiara that Tatler have a 'Tiara of the Month' feature. Fabulous!

There are several blogs about royal jewels. I love The Court Jeweler. The Queen Consort often wears the Delhi Durbar and the Boucheron Honeycomb, which was the Queen Mum's favorite. They both compliment her, she seems to favor a very wide arrangement. I wonder if she will stick to those two or branch out now that she has more of a selection. I would like to see the Oriental Circlet get some rotation, along with the Grand Duchess Vladimir. They would suit her as well. But I just can't see her wearing the GoGB&I or the Kokoshnik. They are so much associated with QEII.

I would love to see Princess Kate in the sapphire parure. And the Burmese Ruby Tiara.

Are we allowed to extend the talk beyond tiaras to the Royal Collection jewellery generally?

I always had the impression Her Majesty had an extensive knowledge around the jewels in the collection and their history etc. At state banquets and when Royals are on tour it is often reported that X or Z wore a tiara or a brooch or necklace and earrings loaned by The Queen. Which is making me wonder who is in charge of them all now? Obviously there are Royal jewellers and I believe Angela Kelly was likely to give advice and keep records of who wore what when (given her starring role in Tiaragate). So I'm wondering if the Boss lady is now Camilla as Queen Consort with help from ???

I did read that Angela has been gifted her grace and favour home for life so I wonder if her job has ended with the passing of The Queen. Or if she may stay on, in perhaps a different capacity, advising on things like the jewellery?

I also wonder when the Daily Mail will stop reporting that Kate gave a nod to Diana every time she wears some earrings inherited from Diana which now belong to her, or that Diana liked to wear but which belonged in the Royal collection.

It will be interesting to see who is wearing what at the next state occasion whenever that may be.

I'm not sure how interested Camilla will be in being in charge of who borrows what so maybe there will be a more general move towards these are available for use with advice and oversight by a trusted servant with knowledge eg Angela Kelly if she hasn't retired.

Sorry to be shallow, but Camila absolutely rocks a tiara. She looks amazing. I loved the wheatsheaf one she wore at her wedding.

I think the GoGBaI will pass to Catherine if anything. It was an iconic HMQ look.

I'll join you in the shallow end. QC does rock a tiara! Particularly the big ones.

I'm half hoping that some of the ones mostly associated with the Queen are retired for a wee while, the GGBI and the Vladimir. I say this in the hope that it would mean those hidden in the Royal Vault that haven't seen the light of day in decades come out in rotation.

Can you recommend some blogs please? I would love to learn more about the royal collection. Thanks

I loved reading about them too.

I wonder whether they will hand some more to Catherine to use when she's Queen.

I seem to remember as well that there are a few in the royal collection that can't be worn anymore. They need to make sure the diamonds / stones don't have any negative associations. I think it caused issues at H&M's wedding because she wanted to wear one that they couldn't prove the origins of the stones

It's my favourite so someone better bloody wear it!! I think it would suit Sophie personally.

I'm secretly hoping something with taste will dismantle some of the ugly ones (all the ones Sophie had access to first please). Loved the Queen for many things but she was no Queen Mary when it's comes to jewellery design.

I'd also like to see a Jewellery Foundation so it all got worn a lot more and not just the same old ones seen.

I agree as a matter of taste. It's not as if there isn't plenty to choose from.

I don't really know which ones are Crown Jewels and which ones are personally owned but I do hope that each of the girls get to keep whichever one they wore as brides. And I hope some things make it to Princess Anne, etc.

I think - and hope! - that it will be Charles who sets the tone in that regards. And the reason I say hope is because Charles is a fan of jewellery and has given Camilla some stunning gifts over the years - this gorgeous pink topaz and diamond brooch she used as a clip for a pearl choker, and this modern diamond drop necklace she has worn with tiaras. Some of Kate’s diamond basics (earrings and bracelet) that she wore when first married were also said to be gifts from her father-in-law.

So, come on Charles, open the vaults and encourage Camilla, Kate and Sophie to dive in…

Does anyone know which emerald tiara Meghan supposedly wanted to wear? I wondered if it was the one Eugenie wore, and the Queen had been saving it for her granddaughter.

Possibly, was she already engaged / heading that way? I can't remember when she married.

I feel like it should not have been set out for perusal if the intention was for it to be saved for Eugenie. I had never seen that piece before so she can hardly have had it in mind before being permitted to rummage through a shoebox full of diadems.

As it worked out, everyone seems to have ended up with a perfect choice.

I think it was the Vladimir tiara if the gossip was correct something to do with its provenance.
www.thecourtjeweller.com/2019/07/the-vladimir-tiara.html

But I could be wrong.

Plus as with most things in the Royal household the jewellery is catalogued so maybe Meghan looked through the book & said this one or this one or that one etc?
So maybe Eugenie's did catch her eye?

But then again who knows as the media embellish & twist everything.

For all we know Meghan couldn't decide (they're all beautiful) & HMQ helped her to pick one & maybe Meghan said she didn't like one of them but loved the one she did actually get to wear.

I do think that Camilla will not wear anything closely associated with the late Queen, just as she does not wear anything associated with Diana. I'm hoping one day we might see Catherine in the GoGBI, and the fringe tiara.

I also hope they find something nice in the vaults for Sophie, she deserves it.

I absolutely love seeing tiaras being worn, they are so beautiful. I'm generally not a royalty fan but if we are to have them at least go full force, make the most of what's there! No point in beautiful tiaras tucked away in a vault when we could be enjoying them!
Camilla does suit a tiara, I would love to see little Charlotte given one. She's young but very poised, really reminds me of the Queen!
