Can we talk about tiaras now? Do you think that Queen Camilla will ever wear the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland? It's so iconic I just can't picture her doing so.

Wedding tiaras can be a bit hit and miss can’t they? Poor HLMQ had to wear a broken one for hers, it was hastily repaired but you can see that the symmetry was lost.

I agree Sophie got a bit of a dud.

I quite like the Halo myself, I think it suited the young woman that Catherine was.

Serenster · 24/09/2022 20:07

Speaking of tiaras I want to see someone wear, this one is pretty high on my list - Queen Alexandra’s diamond kokoshnik. It sparkles like nothing else! I’m guessing it is destined to be worn by Camilla as Queen, but someone…please!

I think it is a major piece and most likely will be worn by QC only. If she wears it. It will look magnificent on PK some day.

But again, I'd like to see some things spread out a little bit.

@Serenster as we've discussed previously that is one beautiful tiara!

Likewhatever · 24/09/2022 21:23

The QA Kokoshnik is a wow piece. I would love to see Catherine in it. I think it needs a brunette, but then I think most tiaras do. (I’m not one, sadly!).

Agree Meghan looked gorgeous in her wedding tiara. It was really pretty and suited her perfectly. Agree that Cartier Halo, although pretty, was very much understated and I would not have objected to a bigger tiara! Agree that Sophie should be upgraded to a better tiara. I love threads where everyone agrees!

They are rare indeed, especially in this topic Grin

CaptainBarbosa · 25/09/2022 17:14

I have nothing of substance to add, other than thank you for this thread! Some of these tiaras are beautiful!!

Camila really can pull off a grand one can't she

Meghan looked beautiful in hers on her wedding day.

Catherine's brunette hair really makes the all diamond ones sparkle, and pearls look great against her hair.

I'd also like to see Sophie in some show stopper tiaras now also! She has a beautiful complexion and can pull of some beautiful coloured gem stones.

JADS · 25/09/2022 17:24

@Serenster that is gorgeous. I could see Camilla in it or Catherine. It's like the Queen's wedding tiara on steroids. What happens in the coronation? Hopefully that will be a time to crack open the vaults.

user1492757084 · 25/09/2022 17:33

I have always been impressed with how Camilla wears jewellery. Sparkly tiaras and the like appear really well balanced. I hope, in time, she wears them all and lends many of them out too. I love to see the fine workmanship and they will pass down and go on in splendour.

Spanielsarepainless · 25/09/2022 17:35

I saw a photo of the honeycomb tiara. Yes, please!

Boxowine · 25/09/2022 18:39

I would like to see QC wear the Fife tiara for the coronation. Not sure if it is part of the Crown Jewels or just on permanent loan.

Likewhatever · 25/09/2022 19:31

I had to Google the Fife tiara but OP you picked a winner! Although if I was wearing all those loosely dangling diamonds it would add a whole new dimension of stress to my day.

CaptainBarbosa · 25/09/2022 20:01

The Oriental Circlet is one I'd like to see again, I thing QC could pull that one off.

Nice piece on the gorgeous Fife (it's so sparkly) I'm not sure but it does seem to be on permanent loan in lieu of taxes and ?live in KP?

If I were Sophie I'd be breaking in clad in black, Mission:Impossible style. Hell, I'd train Louis to help me and lower him from the roof Grin

JADS · 25/09/2022 21:11

The Fife tiara is absolutely stunning. It's on exhibition at Kensington Palace. I had a bit of a fan girl moment over it when I visited.

Hopefully Sophie will be come Duchess of Edinburgh and they can use the Scotland connection...

That Fife Tiara is gorgeous & I just can't stop laughing about Sophie & Louis doing a Mission Impossible to get it & I could see Charlotte & Savannah Phillips helping out too 😂

It’s so beautiful! When I visited it was in a big glass case in the centre of the room, with four tiaras in it, and the way it is lit means if you find the right spot you can take a photo of yourself “wearing” the tiara’s reflection. My sister and I had fun with that 😀

Can I ask a daft question? When Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew she wore a floral headdress into the church. When she came back into the church after signing the register she had changed into a tiara. If I remember correctly it was said at the time it was because she didn't become a duchess until she was married.
Why were other brides able to wear tiaras for the whole service. I get Diana's tiara was her family one and she had a title but what about Kate? Why was Sarah different? (although she looked absolutely stunning with both the flowers and the tiara)

That was her own choice. She wanted it to be a significant moment, so she chose to go in with flowers and out with a tiara.

EdithWeston · 26/09/2022 13:28

Anne definitely wore the halo tiara Kate wore for her wedding.
Beatrice, Anne and the Queen all wore the same tiara for their weddings

So that George VI's eldest daughter, eldest granddaughter and eldest great-granddaughter. Two of whom are still living and might wear again. Next to be seen on Princess Charlotte?

I seem to remember her saying that the floral headpiece was made to conceal the tiara so it could just be removed without disturbing the veil etc. I think it was a nice idea. Always thought she looked lovely actually, easy to forget with all that's happened since.

@Serenster what a brilliant idea with the reflections! It must have been a lot of fun.

Fascinating that Marie Claire page, thanks @Likewhatever !

I love the photo of Princess Margaret in the Persian Turquoise Tiara. Very "Audrey Hepburn at the Embassy Ball" in My Fair Lady.

Yes, Sophie does seem to lose out in the tiara stakes, when the Duchess of Gloucester seems to have any number at her disposal according to the MC article!
