Why won't Biden get the bus?

Interesting that so many world leaders are happy to as they understand the logistics and practicalities of everyone coming in their own cars but not the US? Does he get that this isn't about him? He's a guest like everyone else, not the star attraction.

@Meatymonster

lf you call pushing others out of the way in a very uncouth manner for a photo op ‘mixing normally’ with others, I wonder where you hang out.

The man is an orange pig, disliked by all with sense

disliked by mad lefties who's views are brought to them by the media particularly the BBC. Biden is a total disaster. It's just unbelievable to have an actual mentally unstable senile man in charge of the USA. Not a week goes by without him making some stupid gaff that never gets shown on the BBC. Trump sneezed the wrong way and it was BBC headlines but Biden is treated with kid gloves. Watch some for yourself

NC12345665 · 18/09/2022 15:16

Hmm You can hate trump and still acknowledge Biden is senile.

SarahShorty · 18/09/2022 15:17

Security. There are many other ways to kill someone even with firearms being illegal.

wackamole · 18/09/2022 15:19

Nothing to do with Biden personally, or his age or health. Each country has its own security protocol for their Head of State and their Head of Government travelling internationally (and in the case of the US President the same person holds both positions). For some countries and some attendees, the group arrangements for the Queen's funeral will meet their protocols; for the US apparently they do not. The UK has only asked attendees to use the group arrangements if they are able; some won't be and will have their own arrangements cleared. If the security requirements for the US President (or any other dignitary) couldn't be accomodated on this occasion, that person simply wouldn't attend.

SarahShorty · 18/09/2022 15:20

Biden has been in cognitive decline since around 2012, maybe even further back than that. Trump may be a bloviating idiot, but he was not and is not in any way senile.

justasking111 · 18/09/2022 15:20

We don't need an assassination just now, especially as embryonic talks are being alluded to re the Ukrainian problem

roarfeckingroarr · 18/09/2022 15:24

@BatteryPoweredMammy you can think Biden is unwell without wanting Trump as president...

Emanresu9 · 18/09/2022 15:24

Come on anyone who doesn’t think Biden is senile is having a laugh!

there are a hundred videos on YouTube of examples.

and I hate trump too but this isn’t about that! Biden is absolutely past his best to say the least.

I think the bus is insulting and a huge security risk

Do you know better than the experts in the Met who have concluded that this is the safest and most efficient way to move the dignitaries about? The buses are being used to make security easier and to make sure that everyone arrives at the Abbey at the right time. Jacinda Adern commented this morning that this was an entirely normal way of doing things. No one feels insulted

SenecaFallsRedux · 18/09/2022 15:27

The European royal families are quite used to being ferried about in buses for weddings and such, I believe.

Ponderingwindow · 18/09/2022 15:28

The President of the United States might be the Commander in Chief, but he effectively takes orders from the Secret Service. They are protecting him with their lives. It would be incredibly disrespectful to ignore their requests.

No one feels insulted? Not true. At least five countries’ diplomats are pushing back
”Britain is facing a diplomatic backlash over VIP travel arrangements for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, with multiple world leaders now requesting special permission to skip the proposed ‘park and ride’ scheme and arrive in their official vehicles.”

The Met are not really the experts in this sort of thing 😅

nopenotplaying · 18/09/2022 15:46

Forgot his bus pass

Ok, the security services then. But special protection is part of the Met 🤷‍♀️

PhillySub · 18/09/2022 15:50

You aren't paying for the petrol, why worry?

smilesy · 18/09/2022 15:51

@Discovereads reading that article, some heads of state need to get over themselves. “An affront to their masculinity” 😂

Longdistance · 18/09/2022 15:54

I’m sure he qualifies for a bus pass at his ripe age.

meateatingveggie · 18/09/2022 16:09

Never mind the bus, where's his black tie?

Not wearing one seems plain rude

sweatyannie · 18/09/2022 16:39

He's using his own transport so he can get there first and bagsy best seat.

SenecaFallsRedux · 18/09/2022 16:50

Wearing a black tie for mourning is not generally done in the US, but maybe he will wear one for the funeral.

Women in the US also don't generally wear hats, but I expect that Dr. Biden will wear one tomorrow.

HannaHanna · 18/09/2022 16:56

I don’t know why but I’m really enjoying this thread.

SenecaFallsRedux · 18/09/2022 16:58

He's in Westminster Hall right now wearing a dark tie.

I know! Next time, I reckon we should drop the bus idea altogether and just send someone to meet them at Heathrow T5 with a printed-off map and a link to the TfL journey planner. Biden included.

CatGrins · 18/09/2022 17:10

That motorcade that he just had for a 5 minute journey is utterly grotesque. His wife waving wildly in the car at crowds outside; they really do think it's all about them! Yuck.
