Can I ask a question about Diana please?

If Diana was alive now and divorced from Charles, I just wonder what effect it would with a monarch having an ex wife alive and well.

Would Camilla as Queen consort risk being overshadowed by her DH's ex wife?

Also, if Diana remarried what effect would that have on her royal status, would she move out of where she was living at Kensington Palace do you think?

Oh she'd still be generating headlines, I like to think her third marriage would have lasted.

SurfBox · 14/09/2022 20:51

I genuinely don't think there could have been any other fate than that which befell her. It wasn't even up for discussion

so you think she was murdered?

antelopevalley · 14/09/2022 20:55

@SurfBox Exactly. There are plenty of 60-year-old celebrities that look great. She had the best healthcare and beauty treatments you can buy. Look at Christie Brinkley for example.

One of my friends is convinced Philip ordered her murder. We don't talk about it anymore.

J0y · 14/09/2022 21:07

But Philip was fond of her!

J0y · 14/09/2022 21:08

Not that he murdered people he disliked. Fergie is alive.

mum2bee2022 · 14/09/2022 21:21

I think Diana may have eventually become an upper class version of Katie Price.

I really don't think that Charles would have been able to marry Camilla if Diana hadn't died.

This. Her situation with RF was all conflict. I'm not saying that makes her death ok, but her death definitely brought calm to the situation that would have been missing for last 26 years.

Foldingchair · 14/09/2022 21:51

All this Diana love... must be women in their 50s and upwards, right? I know most people in their teens then couldn't give a shiny shite about her, or the royal family.

Fwiw, I quite like camilla. I reckon she'd be a good laugh at a party. Diana would be too busy working out who was looking at her and trying to find a man to flirt with. She would probably bemoan the fact that women were all jealous of her and that she got on better with men.

SurfBox · 14/09/2022 21:53

Exactly xelebs, specifically attractive celebs who are very high profile, can maintain their looks much longer than the general public/average person.

antelopevalley · 14/09/2022 21:54

Diana had a lot of female friends.

gnilliwdog · 14/09/2022 21:57

She also said she was pretty thick at school, but she did win one prize - for being the nicest girl. I expect Camilla is great fun if you enjoy battering foxes to death.

Snoozer11 · 14/09/2022 22:09

I think the press would have turned on Diana.

I can see her having a string of failed marriages.

The two princes would have married different women and I don't think Charles could have remarried if she were still alive.

Because she was not a teen icon but moreso an icon for adults, namely woman, from their 20s to adulthood because of her style and as a beauty icon. She wasn't marketed for teen girls and kids in the same way film,tv and pop stars are. The royal family wouldn't have being cool enough.

Teens back then would likely have grown more interested in her as adults when they matured as a figure to admire/critique. There is alot of interest in her though today-just look at any youtube clips and the comments/views are big. Her legacy lives on. Also any thread on mn with Diana usually gets alot of posts.

I think Diana may have eventually become an upper class version of Katie Price

not likely as Price was never famed for being charitable or an inspiration/saintly figure, an upper class version of Cheryl Cole be more apt here. She's the nearest thing I saw to Diane in her peak as alot of people were taken by her as a genuine good person/victim etc and there was a national craze about her.

Why would they, she died years before they were born!

Diana and Cheryl Cole (the woman who assaulted a loo attendant)? I’m not so sure and can’t see the similarities?

J0y · 16/09/2022 03:54

Cheryl Cole like Diana 🙈🙈

Westfacing · 16/09/2022 04:08

Cheryl Cole... what's she got to do with the price of fish?

the poster meant teenagers back 'then',not today's youth.

eh at a time she was treated like Diana around the 08- 11 time she was literally everywhere crying on the xfactor, selling her autobiographies, crying on piers morgan, being dubbed as the nation's sweetheart who could do no wrong...

I recall so many posts on fb saying how 'inspirational' she was a such a role model etc. She played up for the camera well like Diana and she had very good pr.

The whole toilet incident was forgotten.

CriticalAlert · 17/12/2022 20:16

I don't think he could have married Camilla if Diana had been alive. And Charlie likes to get his way. I think Diana was ok and the RF were discrediting her in the media, but people genuinely liked her. Don't want to get conspiracy theorist here but I think she was murdered by MI5. Having Diana potentially marry an Arab would never have been allowed. .. then the future king of the UK having an Arabic half sibling? No way!!!! Just think about it....

ILoveeCakes · 17/12/2022 20:21

Out of interest, how many people believe it is possible to dig a 6 foot hole in what is basically a mound of mud in the middle of a duck pond?

I think the hole would quickly collapse and fill with water.

MarshaMelrose · 17/12/2022 20:34

Oh stop it. Henri Paul, the driver, had been drinking on duty and was over the limit. He drove too fast and hit a pillar in the tunnel. The only person to survive was the one wearing a seatbelt. Diana was not wearing one. If she had been, she probably would have survived.
How could MI5 have influenced any of that?
It's been investigated by several French and UK judicial departments. They've all found it was an accident. As one French police officer said, who do you want to investigate it next? The Pope?

Do you not have even a modicum of critical thinking ability?

Of all the ways to have an organised hit on someone, do you really think a car crash is the one that guarantees death? Embarrassing.

It would have suited Charles far better for Diana to have lived long enough to reveal herself as the nightmare she was, publicly. Which she absolutely would have done.
