When are these tv tributes filmed?

Just watching what the BBC Iplayer has to offer on the Queen. Various types of programs and so far seen her children comment, past PMs talking, discussion on her hobbies and one about pictures of her including interview with person who designed portrait on lasts coins. All seem to have people in black clothing ties and specific mentions of her death and end of her era and past tense.

I assume none of this could have been filmed since her death as not enough time surely. So do they interview people and have them “pretend” she’s dead so they can make these programs in advance? Particularly interested in when the royal family film their bits. It can’t be since she died that would be quite odd but then so would filming this in advance surely. Any ideas?

AFAIK it's an ongoing thing, they are updated and filmed at regular intervals. Par for the course for anyone working in tv/media. All part of Operation London Bridge, amazing how much was planned in advance but makes sense. It will be the same for Charles, they will start preparing for if anything happens to him. I think for all senior royals.

The royal family have definitely filmed their tributes since the queen died. Charles did his after he got back from Balmoral today. I think the news mentioned he would record it from one of the drawing rooms at Buckingham Palace.

If you listen to Boris Johnson's tribute that he gave in the HoC this week, he mentions that he was approached by the BBC to contribute a piece talking about the Queen in the past tense just a few weeks ago. Obituaries for significant people of importance are kept up-to-date on file.

Definitely updated on a regular basis, so they have the PM of the day for instance.

Though, it has been mentioned that they never envisaged that there would be a change of PM and the death of the Queen in the same week.

They’re six pages into a discussion on this very topic on this thread:

They are done in advance. Everyone dies so they prepare. It is an important part of an orderly transition - you can't have everyone running about in a flap.
