Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

@notanotheroneagain

The document you referenced above referred a number of times to ‘Kennington palace’
do you read things properly before you link ? clearly it’s from some dodgy source, that doesn’t know what it’s talking about -
much like the podcast

Erm, something that I addressed before about posters knowing the subject and not recognising spell check etc. when you know what the subject you are discussing is.
You are the one who brought it up.

That's why I was surprised by your post.

She makes it sound like she was staying in a township

Oh, you mean like when people make the same assumptions about 'apartments' and 'cottage' ?

smilesy · 27/08/2022 13:12

I pray none of you have children or are allowed around children

Unbelievable

However, she has a top notch PR company now, so I really do wonder how / if they missed how her narrative would be perceived.

I was laughing at this comment from @themessygarden as I’m not sure they are quite as top notch as they’d like us to believe.

The Haed of Audio at Archewell posted a photo of herself standing in front of one of the Archewell billboards and said “catch our billboards all over the world!”. She even pinned where they are - New York City! Los Angeles! Erm…..Toronto!

So that would be like the Baseball World Series then that only includes the USA and Toronto. Maybe an atlas would be useful to see that that is not remotely “all over the world”.😀

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/08/2022 13:18

From what I could see the "top" comments, with the most interactions were definitely South African nationals, with high profiles

Were they black or white South Africans though? Because if the former, surely casting doubt on the comments risks shutting down their views, which is dangerous territory

Royal sources already confirmed that the heater incident happened, and that a faulty heater was smoking

Named and reputable sources, or just the usual media shorthand for "something we chose to make up"?

LondonWolf · 27/08/2022 13:22

Majority black from what I could see and yes, I agree with you. People can easily check this for themselves on Twitter.

Readinginthesun · 27/08/2022 13:05

Apparently it was MM’s heater .
Why it was required in such a hot climate is a mystery .
As parents we have probably all had “ what if” moments but 99.9% of us just get on with life.

Source?

Obviously you've never lived in South Africa!

I don't think anyone who berates the concerns of a new first time mummy, and who thinks it's totally fine to have a dangerous faulty smoking heater in a baby's room, is safe to be around children. It shows a shocking lack of empathy and basic awareness of child safety.

If you were babysitting someone else's child and a faulty heater started pouring out smoke, would you think it was no big deal? If it was your own child? Sorry but I don't buy that for a minute. If anyone on here took their baby to a hotel and this happened the average Mumsnetter would raise holy hell. But Meghan is supposed to tolerate it just because she's Evil Meghan and you've demonised and dehumanised her to the point literally everything she does is more justification for your obsessive hatred.

There was no investigation on the Archie incident, was there ? So don't seeee how anyone would have been blamed for breaking the law. Unless you know different.

There wouldn’t normally be an investigation of a minor incident like a heater smoking and being unplugged and removed. An actual fire, yes, as it would be recordable as an incident and depending on the damage there may need to be an investigation. So no investigation can mean that the matter was utterly minor.

StolenWillowTree · 27/08/2022 13:27

Named and reputable sources, or just the usual media shorthand for "something we chose to make up"?

The Daily Telegraph quotes "palace aides" which is standard wording.

Are you suggesting that a right wing, pro-royalist newspaper would fake quotes from Palace officials?

The entire "it wasn't a fire it was just smoke" is the Palace's rebuttal to Meghan's story, which is very telling. The Palace have not denied that the faulty heater incident happened, which they could easily do and would certainly do if Meghan had made it up. The fact they confirm there was an incident with a faulty heater, but are trying to take the tactic of "it was just a bit of smoke" (like a smoking heater isn't incredibly dangerous) says everything.

StolenWillowTree · 27/08/2022 13:31

Most of the hashtag you are talking about is driven from royalists, MM haters and bots (all identified by a company that checks). A few people have jumped on the bandwagon to get likes, most are not black South Africans.

Exactly.

A study showed that hundreds of Meghan hate accounts are all run by just a small handful of people. One woman ran over 50 separate Twitter accounts! (I wonder if it's the same banned troll who bragged about having created something like 20 separate email addresses so she could keep making new Mumsnet accounts just to attack and bash Meghan.)

It's easy to find comments online saying things like "shame the n* baby didn't die."

The amount of naked racist hate against Archie online is terrifying. They are actually sad that a baby didn't die.

Serenster · 27/08/2022 13:31

More staffers left the Cambridge household in the time period, one staffer even did a "a friend says" article in the Daily Mail saying Kate was a bad boss, after Kate fired her while she was on her honeymoon. If Meghan fired someone while the woman was on honeymoon we'd never hear the end of it!

This has been brought up already and demonstrated to be utter rubbish. The staff member was made redundant (not fired) after her honeymoon (not during it) and her friend said she was upset because she had “loved her job” with no comment whatsoever about Kate.

So, complete nonsense, like the rest of your post.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/08/2022 13:31

Majority black from what I could see

Okay, thanks for clarifying, LondonWolf

So now we appear to have attempts to negate some black people's views in order to shore up another one who's preferred - and all over something where we can't yet know what actually happened

Interesting ...

Roussette · 27/08/2022 13:33

No. 1 in Hong Kong, India, Portugal and France also.
And keeping the top spot in the countries mentioned earlier in this thread, even though other podcasts in those charts are releasing new episodes continually.

I'm so glad Piers Morgan has blocked me on Twitter, I imagine he is ranting as he always does. And I see #JanMoirisRacist is trending. Hardly surprising with her disgusting piece.

I've just read that over 100 single purpose hate accounts targeting MM on Twitter have been suspended and deactivated.

There's some vile people around.

Serenster · 27/08/2022 13:37

I wonder if all the accounts tweeting that the heater was a deliberate attempt by the Royal Family to murder Archie have been suspended? Somehow, I think not.

Have you reported the tweets? There is no point in saying that, if you don't.

If I see something truly obnoxious like that, I report.

“And the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit they had us staying in

Yes its just so arrogant isn't it. Not 'once we'd arrived we left our ds at the accommodation where we were staying'. Its just constant victimhood and complaining. These podcasts will remain no.1 but for all the wrong reasons! I bet the rf are pissing themselves laughing. Finally, everyone else gets to see what they've endured.

Ohnonevermind · 27/08/2022 13:43

@JaniieJones

her own words do lend credence to the Tom Bower’s comment ‘that nothing was ever good enough’

Roussette · 27/08/2022 13:43

What... that her podcast is no.1 in countless countries? I doubt they warm to that idea. I imagine there's some gnashing of teeth in some quarters.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/08/2022 13:47

The Telegraph is just another media outlet like so many others, and has featured highly in IPSO's lists of adjudicated breaches

Just the fact that the RF appear to favour it suggests, IMO, that it's comfortable with reporting a preferred narrative rather than the full facts, so I'll pay attention if they're prepared to name a source but will otherwise keep an open mind

Readinginthesun · 27/08/2022 13:52

I am just amazed that this incident wasn’t mentioned on OW or at any other time or is the plan to drip , drip stories about her horrific time in the RF ?
Even her “ dear friend” Serena didn’t know about it ? Pretty sure it’s the sort of thing you would share with your “ dear friends”.
Actually , I am now wondering if Harry knew about it ??

BlueRidge · 27/08/2022 13:56

@StolenWillowTree "It's easy to find comments online saying things like "shame the n* baby didn't die.""
I'm trying to imagine how/why anyone would come across posts like that on the internet. How do you know this stuff? Do you actively go in search of it?

Serenster · 27/08/2022 13:59

“And the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit they had us staying in

The timeline too is interesting when compared to the words Meghan chose here. The Sussex party travelled to Cape Town on an overnight BA flight that landed early in the morning. They all travelled to their accomodation together. In the early afternoon Meghan (who had changed her clothes and hairstyle) and Harry travelled to their first engagement at the Cape Flats Township. Then Meghan and Harry went back to where they were staying, Meghan changed her outfit and hairstyle again, and they headed out to their second engagement.

So there was no “drop off” of their baby en route to the engagement. They all went there to rest after the flight and get ready for their engagement.
